Re: Microsoft's Potential Game Plan in 2020: 'Spend Sony Out of Business'

Microsoft is led by very bad corporates. Sony on the other hand which has a CFO obsessed with growth (https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2023/02/sony-shakes-up-corporate-ladder-by-promoting-exec-obsessed-with-growth ) and which outspend Sega to take over its market ($299) and tried the same with Nintendo and Microsoft is a very good company.

@Yaycandy it was a statement by xbox’s boss under oath yet you say it’s a lie.

Bold.

And reading through other comments I see others claiming Spencer is lying too.

Alrighty then.

You all know Sony bought exclusivity and the whole of Insomniac after the Sunset Overdrive exclusivity deal by xbox, right? I’d love to see the day Insomniac releases Spiderman on Xbox. To disprove Spencer’s point made.

@naruball in terms of diversity in gaming (different gaming experiences) I think Nintendo still wins. Compare Metroid with Zelda, Brain Age, Clubhouse Games, Mario, Famicom Detective Club, Fire Emblem, Mario Kart, Luigi’s Mansion, Nintendo Labo, Super Smash Bros and Splatoon and you can see that no two gaming experiences are alike.

Well, this is Sony investing in the live-service games. I think I saw three or four of those games? With Square Enix and EA also adding theirs?

I miss the days where Sony would release also a bunch of experimental and smaller stuff in between the big hitters. Sadly they wrapped up those studios.

Looking forward to the 3d party games though. Especially Diablo IV, Street fighter 6, metal gear soliD, Alan Wake 2 and Talos Principle 2. But I’ll be playing all those games on my series X because I like that console more for games that don’t make use of the dual sense controller.

Re: PlayStation Well Ahead of Nintendo, Xbox In Terms of Brand Momentum, Says Sony

@ChrisDeku why should it be divided into regions? Switch outsold ps4, most important metric. Also, makes sense that the ps4 was ahead of switch until the pandemic because the ps4 is years longer on the market. And per year on the market the switch and the ps4 had roughly the same sales but the ps4 lost steam and the switch did years later. https://www.vgchartz.com/article/454961/switch-vs-ps4-sales-comparison-august-2022/

@Kevw2006 you could say that to above commenters who brought dlc for gta iv into the discussion then too…

Also, the whole spiderman franchise is excluded from anything not Sony. So…. it has nothing to do with Insomniac, they just made the game Sony asked them to make, but Sony kept the whole Spiderman franchise from all other places. Incomparable to Hellblade.

@nomither6 i would agree with that paragraph.

Such a shame Sony got rid of their Japan Studio. And that Quantic Dream got acquired by NetEase.

We can now tell what two types of games Sony will make for the next 10 years. Single player narative driven action games, and the occasional racing game. Oh, and MLB the show. That’s all I think. Not much variety.

Oh, and apparently 12 live service games. Joy…

Re: Out Today: PSVR2 Brings Next-Gen VR to the Masses

@thedevilsjester so yeah, about the headline of this news post we can ask two things:

  • what can be considered next-gen VR. Answer probably the PSVR2, while the Quest 2 can’t be considered next-gen.
  • does Sony truly deliver it to the masses with a price tag of 1000 euros minimum? I don’t think so.

I think it will remain at the same attachment rate as psvr at that price and especially with the current and announced line-up of games (and rumoured reveals tomorrow) which was about 4-5%. Profitable, but not mass appeal.

Also, the Quest 3 is apparently coming at the end of this year, replacing Meta Quest 2 and priced around 400-500 euros with the same specs or comparable to psvr2 and meta quest pro. And probably backwards compatible.

I think I’ll wait out on the psvr2, see where that story goes. Unless Sony can convince me with something new and great other than racing and rhythm games (again), which I loved, don’t get me wrong, but won’t make me buy into a new system all over again…

@nomither6 have you been called a 10 year old already? . I unlocked that trophy today for saying that Sony does do scummy business with their timed exclusive deals which originates all the way back to the ps2 with GTA 3 for instance.

I asked which comment made me look like a 10 year old, no response. I’m probably on that ignore list too….

@thedevilsjester depends what you’re looking for. The library of games of psvr2 is not compelling enough for me yet to pay 500 euro’s. Most games are also on the oculus quest 2 library of games for less money. And Sony so easily ditched the psvr that I’m going to play the waiting game. Last time I bought the psvr together with a friend to share but it never felt worth it to both of us. Played mainly beat saber and GT Sport but not much else worth mentioning.

Also, apparently you could buy the Valve Index if you really want high end graphics and features. Psvr2 is in between the two. I’ve never played a Valve Index though, also I don’t own a gaming pc so I wouldn’t know.

Perhaps below comparison from gamexplain can help you out.

@BrotherFilmriss this community is absolutely not tolerant towards Xbox . Try having a peak at the comment section when there’s anything about the activision-blizzard acquisition. People throwing blades of chaos and claws of Hades towards you whenever you say something bad about Sony.

Apparently that’s not allowed here.

Anyway, back on topic, I’ll definitely give this game a go since I love the Bioshock series and I hope this will give me a piece of that same vibe again. On gamepass. (No need to spend 60 euro’s on that game on my playstation, which is nice. If I love it I will buy it afterwards for the collection!).

1000+ euro’s isn’t exactly something for the masses. Quest 2 is actually 500 euro’s cheaper.

Edit: No you do not need a pc for the Oculus Quest 2…. And quest 3 is coming at the end of this year with same specs as Sony’s psvr2 and for 400-500 euro. (No need for a ps5 or pc).
