Got my copy yesterday, but unfortunately it arrived the same week as one of my all time favorites, FFT, came out with a remaster. I am playing through that before moving on to Yotei, but can't wait to get started.
I've always been curious just what exactly Goat Simulator is, but unfortunately I canceled PS+ at the end of summer. Lot of single player games I'm looking forward to and I don't get through them too quickly these days, so between FF Tactics and Ghost of Yotei, I'm more or less set until the new year.
As much as I love MGS3, I think I'll wait until a sale. The PS4 version still holds up really well and I'm not sure I want to pay $100 for an updated version. Props to them for a faithful remake, as I would love this style remake for some other titles that I don't have anymore (MGS1 and 2, old FF games).
I was already looking forward to it, so not sure if this necessarily made me more excited, but definitely nice to see an update as we get closer. Was hoping to see if Legends would be included. It wouldn't change whether or not I get it, but I definitely enjoyed the mode.
Sounds good to me. Don't mind a shorter story if it has good replay value. I remember playing through Onimusha 2 multiple times to see how things changed when you had good/bad relationships with the various allies. Definitely looking forward to this!
Rebirth killed my hype a bit. I was originally pretty excited, now I'm just waiting for it to be over. Don't get me wrong, Rebirth was pretty good, enjoyable for the most part. But I'm not really expecting any crazy changes. They would like us to think it'll be different, but as Barret would say, "There ain't no getting off of this train we on." They've just re-routed us on a different, and longer, train to get to the same destination.
@Jimmer-jammer while I had no idea who Bosch was before (seen some of those works before in my travels, but was never the type to look into the artist), the game definitely got me curious to look into it. I was also really interested in the themes throughout the game, especially working in a high school where kids with anxiety is sky rocketing... but also so neat to see how so many of them got sucked into the election news without really knowing much about it (I don't even live in the US) lol.
I really enjoyed my time with it. I had some small issues with it (like the three optional towers all being the exact same layout, and other optional dungeons being more or less the same), but I loved a lot about it. One thing I wish they did with the Archetypes was for them to reflect each tribe a little more uniquely. For example, a Mustari's take on a Healer vs a Clemar. What that means to them might be slightly different.
Either way, personally I had a great time with it and likely in my top 3 this year (along with SB and LaD: IW).
Oh cool, my Stellar Blade pick made the cut lol, thanks!
Honestly, was hard to choose. Played Infinite Wealth, P3 Reload (which was a new experience for me as I never played the OG), Rebirth, SB, Astro Bot, and Metaphor... So there were lots of great games to pick from. If Metaphor came out sooner, it may have been my pick, but I feel like I submitted this before I got through it all.
Anyways, great seeing what everyone else thought! May have to add some of these to my list.
Happy for Astro Bot. Wasn't my personal pick for GotY (between Metaphor, SB, and Infinite Wealth), but definitely a fun experience. Wish it was a bit longer and had some more replay value, but overall a solid choice that most people, regardless of their personal choice, can agree was a fun game... Which is what gaming should be about at the end of the day.
I don't mind a challenging platinum, but Rebirth was just tedious and annoying. Granted it's a fine line between the two and what one person finds challenging, another might find tedious lol... So, I was happy to end my time with Rebirth when I did. Props to those who stuck with it to the end.
Plus, I refuse to go on a date with anyone other than Tifa, so one of the trophies is impossible to do.
@Oram77 agreed, I'd honestly be most disappointed if Astro or Rebirth win here. I can't really think any memorable tracks in Astro (not to say it didn't have any, but they just didn't really stand out in my mind) and Rebirth is mostly just remixes of the OG or Remake, which again... Nothing wrong with that, but to win over a completely new original sound track would be sad.
I enjoyed Astro Bot and Rebirth, but my personal favorites are Infinite Wealth, Metaphor, and Stellar Blade. Plus the all have great sound tracks! Rebirth was great and all, but the last couple of chapters really went off the cliff... Still haven't brought myself to getting the platinum.
Astro Bot was also fun, but I was pretty much done with it after 20 hours. It was a great 20h experience for sure, but I didn't have any real reason to go back like other platformers.
I love Jin, but I'm also excited for the new region and lead character. At the very least, I hope there are some references to him or better yet, a mythic tale based on him to unlock an ability.
Looking forward to it. I felt really cool slinging spells and juggling dark wizards lol. I really hope at some point we get to visit other wizarding schools.
It was between Infinite Wealth and Stellar Blade for top spot, then Rebirth and P3 Reload battling it out for 3rd and 4th. I never finished Nier and couldn't really get into it, so I didn't even mind the story of Stellar Blade, but the combat kept me coming back. I took frequent breaks from Rebirth just to play the boss rush mode and work on the platinum.
Don't get me wrong, Rebirth was good and had a lot of the things I felt were missing from FF16, but then went overboard with them. I had much more fun with IW's side content than Rebirth (even the Segway handled better in IW!). And the last two chapters of Rebirth were a mess. Combat wise, they built off a great system in Remake, but some of the combat simulations and boss battles were just SO tedious. And as much as it seems like I'm hating on the game, I really did enjoy about 85% of it. I think I just had sky high expectations because everyone was giving it universal praise, while the other 3 I had more modest expectations.

Didn't they just shut down FF Dissidia Opera Omnia a couple years ago... another Dissidia gacha game...?

@ztpayne7 honestly, that's all I'm hoping for. I'm also still waiting to see if Legends mode will be a thing.

Never actually played a DW game, but was curious about this one. Do you need to have played previous titles before this?
