Re: Talking Point: Does PS5 Have a Sequel Problem?

DzarkGaz

Personally perfer a studio who makes a game I enjoy to release a follow up i will buy and enjoy, than spend a fortune on a new ip that may not hit the mark, and if it dont see that studio obilerated due to game costs. However, i would like Sony to take more risk with funding smaller, riskier new games and innovations in the AA space where failure wont destroy a studio but a sucess can be followed up with bigger budget sequels

Re: Embarrassing AI Art Plagues Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Launch

DzarkGaz

Ok so they use ai and last years code to make this years game worse, then seemily used ai to QA the output given all the bug, issues and random crap like no pause or mid mission save. Yet they still want £60 for sometjing that cost an AI subscription and someone on minimum wage to prompt, absolute f*****s, this is from a non Cod fan, fell really sorry for anyone who was defauded by this!

Re: Poll: Did You Buy a PS1 at Launch?

DzarkGaz

Went N64, a lot of friends got PS1s great console but goldeneye to this day makes 64 a good choice, was too young and parents wouldn't buy me both lol. Ps2 on wards was full in from launch lol

Re: PS6 Still Years Away Despite Increase in Next-Gen Chatter

DzarkGaz

I want a PS6 now for better fidelity. I honestly do think care if people stick with PS4 or PS3 if they don't value gfx increases, it's all good. By why do so many who don't value gfx increases want to spoil everyone else's fun and bemoan a better system that will not come into their living room and destroy their old hardware and demand payment for the new one!

Re: The FTC Is Still Fighting Microsoft's Activision Buyout, and It's Not Going Well

DzarkGaz

Knowing MS this was the plan all along, push a load of old games to competitor consoles to remove all regulatory pressure. Once FTC and anyone else still fighting is out of options. XBox The First, next generation consoles is announced with all new MS owned games only available on it, possibly after snapping up a few publishers first with their new consumer friendly strategy as evidence its not trying to monopolise the market!

Re: PS6 Can't Rely on Cutting-Edge Graphics, Sony Must 'Change Its Way of Thinking'

DzarkGaz

Lol, of course we need better hardware, we are all rocking 4k TVs and Monitors, games Devs can easily make 4k eye candy (internal rendering) but due to hardware limitations resolution is scaled back, the up scaled with the inherent problems it causes, and still they struggle to hit 60fps. While going for 8k will offer limited improvement in discernable fidelity we definitely need a more powerful PS6 if only to hit true 4k with 60/120fps and no fake AI upscale/frame gen.

Re: Capcom Seems Sold on Using AI to Help Out with Game Development

DzarkGaz

The biggest problem with AI will come later, if you rely on AI it will stagnate as it only rehashes what is already there. By replacing the creatives with AI, no one is creating any more and new ideas dry up.
AI makes mistakes and hallucinations, you need experts who know the basics to review and spot them, if no-one is doing the basics and learning where are the experts coming from to verify the output.
It's a false economy in a lot of scenarios they are pushing it.

Re: Reaction: Sony's Live Service Push Has Been a Disaster of Utterly Insane Proportions

DzarkGaz

Honestly don't get the strategy. Most of the successful live service games have a very similar trajectory.
Make good single player game with decent multiplayer (GTA, FIFA, GT, CoD,etc) or luck out releasing a multiplayer version of a popular game in development (Fortnight) or release a multiplayer variant of popular franchise in a booming genre (apex) then if it hit throw the world at the Live service side and profit!
Of all the live service games Sony went with the only one that looked close to this model and may have been successful was the Last of us but sure the correct model was launch with Last of us 3 (dev cost mostly recouped) if multiplayer was popular (very likely) pivot more Devs towards it and profit. Oh well opportunity missed I guess

Re: Poll: Will the Switch 2 Compete with PS5?

DzarkGaz

Playstation only fans will not be tempted to switch (pardon the pun). Similarly Nintendo only fans are not and did not move to playstation en mass. The there are the dual owner who will remain dual owners and get a switch 2.
The main competition for Switch 2 is the Switch and can they get people to Switch (pardon the pun) to the presumably much more expensive Switch?

Re: The State of the UK's Physical Games Market Might Explain PS5 Pro's Lack of Disc Drive

DzarkGaz

I'm mostly digital only. Never really traded games so just sat dust collecting on shelves mostly. Not entitled much so I don't expect to get games for free or near free, buying at launch and selling. Also having the disk drive separate is the best option those that want it can have it (when scalpers run out of gullible targets). Those that don't, looking at the stats in the article is most people, save money on the hardware. Those claim most pro owner will cos they are hardcore and have back catalogue? What hardcore gamers sells there old consoles

Re: PS5 Dominates UK Black Ops 6 Sales, As Game Pass Causes Xbox Share to Collapse

DzarkGaz

Think this will be bad on Xbox side, a lot of those "lost" Xbox sales will be existing subscribers, any new subs will likely be 1 month campaign and done, unlikely someone will pay monthly allowance for a year to play CoD when it's £70 one-off (excluding @Nexozi of course whose happy to pay £180 per year + cost of Xbox - PS sell price to play CoD for free!!!)
Good news for PS, based on those figures they will not want to remove it from PS in 10 years or whatever the guarantee was on take over!

Re: Tech Experts Reckon PS5 Pro Could Help Pave the Way to PS6

DzarkGaz

Why the anger with price it's a pro version. It in no way sets the tone for PS6 pricing. Base console will always be affordable they want software sales to 10's of millions of user. Making a few quid on the few willing to pay for higher spec will not excite shareholders and investors!

Re: Vince Zampella Defends PS5 Pro Price, Says 'It's Actually Not That Bad'

DzarkGaz

Did I miss Sony's announcement that they are discontinuing the PS5 in November? At the same time as they release a mandatory update to all existing PS5 and 4s that does nothing other than render the system useless and displays a full screen advert advising you need PS5 pro or you cannot game on PS again?
I'm guessing I did based on all this outrage over an optional system that me ( and probably many others) will buy and accept it is a reasonable cost for an optional premium accessory!
I did forget the age old rule that the price you sell any item must be the same or less than a similar item sold decades ago!!!!

Re: 'It Makes Sense Why the PS5 Pro Price Is So High,' Say Tech Experts

DzarkGaz

PS5 is a loss leader or break even to tempt people into the eco system and make on software. PS pro is a premium item, it won't be tempting anyone into the eco system, so correctly the add a margin probably 20-30%, seems fair to me.
I don't get all p!ssy on the internet because the Xperia 1 IV is £1200 when you can get a basicphone 101 for £79.99 at the local market. The world's gone mad. If you don't see the point in slight improvements for exponentially more cost that's all good, the is product to meet your basic needs. For those that have and want the extra bells and whistles let us have them and pay the price! I'm game!

Re: Despite Price Point, Analyst Firm Expects PS5 Pro to Sell Like PS4 Pro

DzarkGaz

Wow, so many "the world owes me everything for free types! Nobody is removing your ability to stick with your PS1, 2 or 3 if that's what your budget allows, for the slightly better off sticking with your PS4, 4pro or 5 is still possible without spending a penny. You can still buy a PS5 diskless and and disk drive if you want! But that is not enough for them if they cannot have better Graphics for cheaper than now, the no-one should be able to pay for better!!!! What is this world coming too, what are they teaching kids/young adults today wow

Re: More Xbox Layoffs Reportedly Inbound as Company Attempts to Cut Costs

DzarkGaz

Why do we never see honesty. This is simply the cost column on the spreadsheet being larger than the revenue column.
Which surprises no-one, but lots of successful publishers and dev, successful as they sell games full price to 10's million gamers across all platforms.
Proceed to give games to Xbox players for free (those that want go already have it,) and restrict any sales from 100's million customers on PS.
These suit could see the revenue issue looming!!!
