Re: Gran Turismo 7's New Bonus Credits Offer Feels Cruel for Current Players

Dlld0Baggins

I can’t recall but I feel like I got some sort of perk credits amount when I bought the game day one and I didn’t buy a special edition.

But in either case, as an old head with the rubber band contraptions to match, for newcomers to come onto the scene having never been able to take advantage of some of the more wacky days of now patched shenanigans, I’m fine with their receiving this perk. My stable of 400-500 cars, flush supply of crate engines and nearly every engine swapped iteration already acquired as well as every Hagerty Legends car and invite car already snagged, I’m okay with missing out on 1-3 26 minute races worth of winnings… but by all means, do go on.

Re: 'Morale in the Studio Is at Rock Bottom': Rockstar Whistleblower Alleges Union Busting as GTA 6 Is Delayed

Dlld0Baggins

@FuriousMachine yeah, I’m betting the “highly confidential” material R* alleges was shared is pay or contract details involved in the union talks. Corpos love to make everything the same category of “proprietary information” or “confidential” just by stating something is so and basically lays the groundwork for firing someone for sharing information because it is basically intrinsic to starting a union that pay is discussed. Thus sharing pay is confidential and grounds for firing, aka discussing a union ground for firing.

Re: PS Portal Gets So Much Better Today in Huge UI, Cloud Streaming Update

Dlld0Baggins

@Otherbarry unfortunately, the Portal direct streaming ability as a whole, regardless of how you own the content played, is tied to subscription to PSN Premium. Which I am not so as it stands this doesn’t benefit me and I’m not sure it’ll worth the upgrade for my subscription but it’s certainly cool and does a good job compelling some to that upgrade. I might if I find more reasons in the future. I don’t travel a lot right now and have good fiber connection at my home so I’m likely to just stick with what I have since I tend to extend my game play to whatever I’m into on my home console via the Portal just in another room or while briefly traveling around town and waiting on my kids art class or something. No one else uses my PS5 most of the time either.

Re: PS Portal Gets So Much Better Today in Huge UI, Cloud Streaming Update

Dlld0Baggins

@Linaphor not a dumb question as it’s somewhat nuanced but it is quite different. Previously, in order to play a game from your library, it had to be installed on your PS5, boot your PS5 at home and rely on your home connection’s upstream bandwidth. Now, if you’re a PSN Premium subscriber you can stream all your digital games and I believe all of the streaming games that Premium access affords you directly to your Portal via its internet connection. Freeing up your home PS5 to be untethered to the task and not relying on your home connection and PS5 to stream the game to your portal. Essentially, it’s possible now to stream games on the portal without a PS5 involved or even owned at all. At least that’s how I’m understanding it on that last point.

Re: Xbox Boss Believes Sony's Strategy of Console Exclusives Is 'Antiquated'

Dlld0Baggins

Sure, sure, sure, I bet you do think that way. Of course when a company buys more publishers than they can afford, it would make sense that they then have to sell their games everywhere because no one is buying Xboxes so they have to put them where people are. I own an Xbox as well. I’m not trying to dump on them but I don’t think their strategy is one that’s going to sell hardware going forward. They are going to have to become the next Sega and publish everywhere but Sony don’t need to follow suit. I’m buying Sony’s games to play on Sony’s hardware and Sony’s hardware to play Sony’s games.

Re: Rock Band 4 to Be Delisted from PS Store After 10 Years of Support

Dlld0Baggins

@Grim yeah. I’m right there with you. My CRKD just came in the mail today and I’ve been enjoying knocking the rust off. Gonna be a while before I get back to TrFaF on hard…to say the least of expert. But I’ve bought about $40-50 worth of DLC and still FOMO buying the stuff that look to fall any moment with 10/2/15 list dates…

Re: Reactions to Stupid Call of Duty Skins May Make Dev Tone Down Black Ops 7

Dlld0Baggins

They’re probably gonna see the BF6 reception and swear to all they hold dear they’ll ground their skins to hell and back. And then the game will launch and they’ll be looking for another couple bumps on their quarter and some film exec with a movie on the horizon with a branded tie in and a wad of cash will come present themselves to be suckled.

Re: Monthly Gran Turismo 7 Updates Just Keep on Coming, Patch 1.61 Detailed

Dlld0Baggins

I like that PD put in weird non-race types of cars, I’d just like the ratio adjusted a little towards an extra actual sports car here and there. Maybe another GT? But if they are putting in “boring cars”, maybe give the cars with lifting back hatches (SUVs I mean) a break for a shooting break (wagon)? I like weird cars I just don’t want to be slinging top heavy mom utes around the track as much. Personally I’d love to drive my 10th gen Accord but I realize that’s about as interesting as the 4-5 utility vehicles we’ve gotten recently. But we have gotten those so…

Re: More Gran Turismo 7 Content and Upgrades in New PS5, PS4 Update

Dlld0Baggins

I’ll always take free content and appreciate the work that goes into creating these cars in the game. But SUVs… I’d like to take a break from the SUVs. They don’t fit the ethos of the game, not even as much as the true random weird stuff they put in like mini trucks and ambulances. What I’d like to see is some more GT3 cars sprinkled in and I think a lot of the fanbase would agree. I’ll grant. certainly if an engine swap were to appear for the SUVs later they might have a place in the dirt tracks but that’s always been an aside for GT. I mean, it’s in the name… is it licensing? What’s the hold up for even semi recent GT cars being added?

Re: Talking Point: Is It Officially Game Over for PSVR2?

Dlld0Baggins

I love mine. I probably often play more than once a week but it ebbs and flows. I should note that it’s predominantly on GT7 with a seat and wheel which is a lot of money when it bought it. Easily 2x what I paid for my PS5 at launch. But it’s some of best money I’ve spent on entertainment. The kind of stuff if I told 14 year old me I’d be doing at age 40 I wouldn’t have believed me. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have that kind of scratch, I’ll admit that. But I paid full price for everything and never regretted it. Love all of the rhythm games, Walkabout Golf, Legendary Tales, etc as well. Half of my regular rotation games are PSVR2 titles.

Re: PSVR2 to Lose the Support of Its Best Game This Month

Dlld0Baggins

@AdamNovice I agree. I personally don’t care if other people get to play the game on another system. Tying games to PS4 and the possible intrinsic limits that so many PS5 games might have had as a result for so long is one thing. But I think the game dev situation is different now. PC and Xbox versions of games aren’t taking away my enjoyment of the games I play on PS5.

Re: PSVR2 to Lose the Support of Its Best Game This Month

Dlld0Baggins

I don’t disagree that there could have been better support. I will admit that it surely didn’t sell as well as I’m sure Sony hoped. But I bought mine day one, preordered with HCotM. Still haven’t beaten that one but I’ve been fortunate enough to afford a simple seat and a t300 (also bought when it was higher than it is now). With that setup and GT7, all of the great rhythm games, Walkabout Golf, Legendary Tales and Ultrawings, I’m very pleased with the system.

I think all of this “it was doomed, never supported, no one bought it, not enough games!” talk is similar to the “where are the games‽?” about PS5 generally. Everyone dumps on the States of Play. I think people just love to b*tch and moan. I guess I am too indirectly. But I think it’s a great time to be a gamer and honestly couldn’t be happier with the selection and the system(s).

I hope this simply means they’re working on a Beat Saber sort of sequel, at least spiritually. I’ll buy it for sure if they release it on PSVR2.

Re: Report Investigates Why PS5's Store Is Still Drowning in 'Eslop'

Dlld0Baggins

I think the suggestion to hide games is good. Sony could enable this for individual users but they’d have to probably do a good bit of work to enable the user management of their own hiding of games.

However, an even better solution would be a users ability to go as far as hide developers. Anything community interactive requires Sony’s participation to make useful and carries risk of abuse (a la a voting system, say).

However, if Sony would tighten the onboarding of developers a bit so culprits couldn’t ultimately just easily ditch a bad reputation and start over, this could be useful.

Sony could leverage some back end data, enable users to personally hide games/developers and then aggregate these “hide” requests to allow some of the wheat to separate from the chaff. Start by investigating the worst offenders based on how often they get hidden. Sony don’t have to expose any of this to the users so they don’t run the risk of creating brigading effects because they will need to set up personnel to take action only on reviewing the data in an aggregate and then deciding if it’s warranted to delist or depress listing preferences.

All this will require Sony to at least get into the nuts and bolts of their store though and do some work so that is the question. Are they going to do something, or even anything is the question? To even just get that far requires a decent bit of work and it seems like Sony has yet to do anything.

Re: PS5 Users Are Begging for Themes, PS1 Startup Screen to Stay

Dlld0Baggins

I personally would love to keep them and hope they just do. But I can see how they might not want to, at least from the perspective of not keeping the “30th Anniversry” going and the look of the overlays ruffling the feathers of whomever it was that gets the say about advert being priority #1 of the UI, sadly. But at the very least I’d love if they quietly left the toggle option of keeping the OG boot and splash. It’s like mainlining nostalgia straight into my veins to hear and see that. I’ve actually stopped putting my PS5 in standby just to hear it.

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered Sounds Like a Ridiculously Good PS5 Upgrade

Dlld0Baggins

It’s so wild to see certain games get sh*t on so much. I immediately took to Horizon and have loved and bought just about everything related to the franchise since. I’m biased obviously but there are plenty of games that are patently not for me. And that’s fine. Many of them are regularly getting their flowers which they clearly deserve. I’m not spending my time on this planet to go and put them down like that’s an important thing to do. Gamers are a weird bunch. I’m one too. I’m weird in plenty of ways. They just usually aren’t ways that seem so toxic to outsiders.

I bought HZD day one, as did I HFW. Bought their respective DLCs. And also bought a digital complete edition of HZD at some point in there just because I was lazy with the disc. And I’ll be buying this upgrade too. I guess the haters are gonna have to seethe on that for some reason.
