I'm not a fan of souls like games/difficulties but I really like the look of the game. I wasn't invested enough to pay for it but I will try it out if it comes to PS plus. That's why I like PS plus.
For me both models work. Gamepass saves me a significant amount of money on Xbox games and some big day 1 3P launches. That saved money can be used to buy PlayStation and Nintendo games. The 3 different ways of each company doing business is a huge win for multiplatform gamers like myself. Right now there is no right or wrong strategy although I think long term Sony will follow suit with Microsoft because they usually are the first to make the hard moves (like day to PC a few years back).
I have an Xbox an Gamepass so there is zero reason for me to buy these on PS5 and Switch. I would rather save my money for PlayStation and Nintendo exclusive games.
The stories around it are getting old and boring, fast.
The overreactions on the Xbox and PS sides were embarrassing. This was really a nothing burger in the end. The most interesting information is that I can continue to play Xbox games day1 on Gamepass and save money for PlayStation/Nintendo games I like. It's a win for everyone.
I am curious about the new hardware announcement they have confirmed for this holiday.
I have a feeling that the PS5 pro may be scrapped and they may push the PS6 forward to 2026.
With no real prospect of a price reduction in site, the PS5 will fail to clear 70 millions units and sales will fall off sharply now.
This won't look good for investor relations and the easiest remedy is a brand new console for players to get excited about which can be priced a bit higher.
Much weaker than the newer and day 1 selection of games that Gamepass offers (P5 Tactica,P3R, Eiyuden Chronicles Hundred heroes) but a good back catalogue for those like myself who didn't play any of the PS4 exclusives like Death Stranding, FF7 Remake, Detroit Become Human, Days Gone and much more. Rachet and Clank Rift Apart for PS5 is also a great add. The Only PS4 games I ever played excusive were Ghost of Tsushima and Spider-Man.
Tales of Arise is one of the best JRPG's of this generation so that is a big add, although I feel like those who would really have enjoyed it like myself would have brought and played it already.
Sony need to go day & date to get more profit out of the software they have. The success of Helldivers 2 on steam shows them all they need to know. Consoles make little to no money and they need to modernise their strategy somehow. It is clear what they are doing now is not working for them financially even if the brand loyalty is at an all time high.
@Cikajovazmaj They never have to worry because MS can bail them out and are only the 3rd highest revenue making in MS. Sony 's main money is SIE. They are much more in danger than Xbox will ever be.
Spiderman 2 is a huge downgrade from the first, The insomniac formula is getting tired. I hope they take their time with the other 100 Marvel IP's they are working on to change things up.
I was most interested comments on no major IP launches until at least April 2025 and the future strategy of going multiplatform. I think it will be a fairly quiet year for SIE but there is plenty of 3P stuff to get stuck into.
Console sales have thin profit margins and software sales are down so day & date on PC may be a smart move. Sony have already built up enough of a fan base to not need exclusives anymore.
Also like many I would like to see SIE HQ move out of the US and back to Japan.
They might as well make the most of the minimal console profit now while consoles are still viable. I'm certain they have a long term strategy like MS, I just wonder when we will see it.
@Ainu20 True, On Thursday we will know if any goes beyond the agreed ABK ones are actually coming to PS or if the rumours were just made up. I'm sure both have strong futures which is good for players.
@Ainu20 Well that could all very well be true but we are both assuming without any hard evidence. People in the industry have raised it as a concern though even in the ABK court case (kits would have to be supplied directly to MS too). My assumption is that MS have the kind of resource Sony does not and can scale something up pretty quick. I guess we will see at the start of the next gen if any real advantage has been taken. I wouldn't be surprised if MS games (ABK included) stick to the PS5 version into the PS6 gen which is a less attractive proposition, although maybe that suits MS too.
Microsoft is a direct competitor in the console space and can use early information from the PS5 pro/ PS6 dev kits to make adjustments to its own hardware. I hardly think Sony want that.
Having the PS5 dev kit post launch is not an issue but they will need access to Sony's latest hardware to port and develop new Xbox games.
3/10. Gameplay is repetitive, the story is not only poor but very short. Some of the story is crude and rather grotesque. (some of you may know about the scene I am talking about).
The only plus side is the graphics and polish of the cutscenes.
Probably one of the worst games I have played. I am a pretty level headed person I would like to think but this game made me angry.
I am grateful I played a friends copy and didn't have to pay for it. I felt so bad for my friend I actually got them a £70 gift card to get another game.
I wonder if Rocksteady will make another game after this.
Part of me wonders the feasibility of Microsoft bringing games to PlayStation.
A) Would Sony even agree to do that
B) MS would have access to business critical info like having the PS5 pro/PS6 dev kits which can inform business decisions (Since they are planning another gen of consoles).
Letting MS have brand new industry secret hardware early (for future games development/porting) is no light decision to take at all.
Sony have to be careful. Nintendo getting some ports due to the partnerships seems much more likely.
@REALAIS It should become more apparent in the summer. T2 own some huge franchises that can net big turnover. They may make further profit and turnover downgrades when we actually get into FY24/25. A early 2025 release of GTA 6 would net a lot more than 2Bn by April 2025.
@Ravix I would love to be wrong so I can play the game sooner but business like T2 are very calculated when it comes to finances.
Being pushed out of March 25 to FY25/26 does seem to fit the reduction of 1Bn quite well. We could get a summer launch but my gut says September onwards.
@Andee Yeah right now that's me, but if there is a Nintendo console that can play AAA games and be portable I won't buy the PS6 (Not really into much of the Sony 1P stuff except Detroit Become Human/ GOT on PS4 and now maybe Rise of the Ronin and Stellar Blade finally on PS5). I got an Xbox for 3P as you can get the digital codes much cheaper online which you can't do with PSN much.
@Ainu20 I think most Nintendo fans like myself would pay up to $500/£450 for a Nintendo handheld/home console that could play GTA 6 and all the latest games. They would still have Pokémon, Zelda, Animal Crossing, Mario plus tons of other exclusives Sony could only dream of. It's hard to know how powerful this new Nintendo console will be , but I am pretty confident it will retail higher than the Switch and games will be £/$70. It will still sell like hotcakes.
In the UK and Xbox Series S is £250 and a full Oled Switch is around £300 but one has outsold the other by a big margin and I don't need to tell you which one.
Honestly Sony should be worried about Nintendo. I think they are the ones who are going to give Sony a real headache over the next decade. If the new Nintendo gets anywhere near to playing AAA games Sony are in big trouble. Nintendo will do to Sony what Sony did to Xbox in the Xbox One/PS4 gen. With Microsoft in the console space, Nintendo are too risk adverse to really try and compete on hardware power. Without an Xbox console Nintendo can really go for the PlayStation.
Am I the only one that thinks this kind of behaviour is weird? I mean Xbox does have games published on PlayStation (Ori, Cod, Minecraft) and Nintendo so is this really news?
I can see why removing the platforms could be seen as a move to remove fuel to the fire but some people just want to start the fire and watch the world burn.
SEGA got the gamepass money and sold loads. Great business move there. I tried it on gamepass and liked it so much I brough it for Xbox for a very good discount (online code).
I can't wait for P6, If it does lunch in 2025 alongside GTA6 that would be one of the biggest gaming years ever.
In game free add ons and difficulty options for the W. Sony know that not locking this and Rise of The Ronin to just a souls like difficulty will net them more profit. It means I'll be buying both when I wasn't planning to before. Many others who dislike souls like games will follow alongside those who want a challenge.

Re: Unannounced Games from PlayStation Studios Have Been Cancelled
Cancelling some of those expensive yet worn out sequels would be a good start. I would like to see some new IP.
A 2nd game is okay but a lot of Sony's IP is onto the 3rd+ game now.

Re: GTA 6 Is Unlikely to Release Before April 2025, Analysts Advise
It's obvious that it will be releasing towards the end of 2025 and anything else is illogical to think.
A) the polishing phase is usually around 12-24 months for AAA games
B) T2 would have to launch the game in Late/24 January 25 for it to have any real shareholder impact on FY25/25
C) The turnover downgrade is a fair indication that something has been removed/taken out of FY24/25 but unsure if this is GTA 6 or another project/s.
D) FY25/26 will have a much better shareholder outcomes if the game launches in later late autumn/early winter 2025.
E) T2's primary focus is shareholder appeasement so they will plan the launch date of the game when it is ready and suits them financially
