Sadly this is the nature of big business, if it’s not going to bring profit for the shareholders then it’s done. I hope those who have been laid off get to find another role with a great studio who will look after them. I’ve not been a fan of MS tactics for a while but I’m also not naive enough to think it’s only them playing business this way …
Absolutely agree with this review. It was good in parts but very inconsistent throughout. It was fun but I wouldn’t say it delivered on what it promised for sure. Standout was Astro bot.
I don’t mind the thought of 4 seasons. There’s likely so much backstory for each character that the game cannot explore due to the nature of gaming it could easily tell an amazing story over 4 seasons without losing the core elements of the game
Looking forward to this. For the short time I had a series X this and forza4 were the games I seemed to play more than any others, except maybe Ori. If it looks good, or better on the ps5 pro I will be happy as it’s visually a very pretty game too.
First I’d love to finally see GoW collection remastered released. I’d like to see PS Portal able to play any games in your library but this would potentially scupper a new PS Vita.
GTA6 will release a final trailer with gameplay this year but game will be bumped to 2026.
Another NBA, FIFA and Call of duty game will be released 🤣
Sega releases a surprise classic remaster from the Dreamcast era and the internet loses its mind over Mean Girls: the video game (only available on physical media as a CD ROM)
One thing that is clear to me is that the closure of high street stores selling physical media and other larger chains reducing their stock is clearly having an impact on physical sales. When you cannot get to a location to pick up a physical game then you will either order through the likes of Amazon or buy digital.
This isn’t just a Sony issue, this is an industry wide issue, however if it means Sony can keep digital prices higher and make more profit, that is a concern, as there is no competition to stop this.
Got mine yesterday after upgrading from the base model and I’m very happy with it. Ratchet and clank looks gorgeous on it and I’m very happy with the build and performance so far. Managed to snag a a disc drive from a retailer yesterday too for delivery and of month so very happy!
Sony clearly underestimated the demand, however let’s be clear the demand was from scalpers, otherwise it’s likely there would have been a few more available for those who want one. I’ve got plenty digital games to play so can wait to get one at RRP, I’m more annoyed the US has them in stock and the exchange rate makes them about £60….
Very much looking forward to this one, I’ve sunk hundreds of hours into the first game! You were also able to use with mouse and keyboard on console too so expect this to come across to this game.
Anyone have any idea what time they will go on sale as it doesn’t give a time, I can’t sit and just refresh the page all day as I have to, y’know, do some work!
This feels like the end of an era and really sad. I don’t think Game as a store will survive this now as people will just pre order online for delivery, so game will become a funko shop and too many other places sell these to make them viable.
Also the reduction of physical media will also hit CEX as a there will be less copies going around so wouldn’t surprise me if we see them holding high prices for longer.
My main and only concern for this story is the impact on the individual employees potentially having their data leaked. I don’t know the specifics and won’t go looking for it, however I’d be worried if my passport, DOB, address etc were all leaked online. These hackers have no respect for those individuals and this should be a criminal investigation now.
Not bothered about the wait, it’ll be here when it is, I just hope it’s playable and that the trailer isn’t just a polished cinematic version of what it actually will look like (I think it is tbf). They’ll make ridiculous amounts of $$$ off the back of this and online anyway it’ll keep them going for a while but I’m not hyped, have too many games to play now and that’s cool.
It’s a sad moment for people and never nice to have to experience no matter the industry you work in, however with the insane costs of AAA games now, it sounds like they’re being very risk averse and people are the ones bearing the brunt as the companies will continue to make insane profits.
Back in the ps1/2 day, I was a die hard Xbox gamer, never really owned a PlayStation but since ps3, I switched. Why? Xbox got too big for its boots and forgot about the customer, made less good quality consoles and games and imho lost it totally with Xbox one. However, both Sony and Nintendo have kept to the core of “it’s about the quality of the games” and that is what has kept them in the market. Look at Nintendo, not even making 4k/120hz games yet but are selling by the absolute truck load. Mario kart 8 still in the top ten - people play video games because they enjoy them, Sony understands this and knows the key to their success is still great games, not gimmicks or mass purchases.
What’s really interesting here is that the argument of it creating a monopoly, well that model already exists in another market, it’s called ticketmaster and live nation. It has been well reported on different people’s views on what that has done for the market.
However, both Sony and Microsoft have been buying out studios for a while now, but sony and Nintendo tend to invest in those studios differently. There will also be exclusives on each of these consoles (I mean I don’t hear people moaning that Zelda isn’t on the XBSX or PS5) and that will always be the case.
If you want those games, buy that console. I don’t know what damage this purchase will do to the market, however markets also change drastically in the period that MS will want to recoup that cost, so who knows, this could hugely backfire on them too.
Well back in the day I was always an xbox mainly player. It had very strong games on the original xbox and 360 and a great controller and a fairly reliable UI. I just didn't see anything that Sony could tempt me with. Then we got to PS3 and the PS4 and Sony absolutely got their stuff together with great game after great game and I think, tbh, Microsoft took their hands off the wheel, got complacent and took their fanbase for granted and are now reaping this period.
Both Sony and MS have relatively deep pockets, difference now is that Sony have cracked releasing a series of very strong games that are reviewed very well with an insane marketing campaign behind them.
MS either needs to really get behind the Xbox and really do some research on what the "gamers" want and make some swift changes or they'll lose even more subs. I don't want either brand to fail, however this is their own doing and buying out a massive brand so the other one can't have it really isn't going to be the win they think it is unless their model changes.
I haven’t been to that park specifically but I know others who have and it’s really worth a visit, probably the closest we have to a universal style park in Europe
@Ralizah very well said indeed, encapsulated some of my thinking. As a member of the LGBTQ community myself, it’s been incredibly disheartening to see the hatred and online bullying used by all different types of people to sway someone to either back the game or not play it. That’s not how we get engagement and support for a very topical and needed cause around human rights when we are being attacked by right wing media and religious groups already on a daily basis
I’ve never been a huge AC fan before this but I have played the main game to the end and now starting on the DLC and absolutely loved the setting and the mythology.
Well tbh I’m kind of sick of stuff leaking, I like waiting to hear when these game companies want us to know and when it’s ready. Im pretty sure there’ll be some strong NDAs in place for things like this so whoever has leaked it may well be in trouble too.
Genuinely surprised at how fun it looked, as others have said, combat looks very one note but plenty of time to see how it all pans out. Very wary of pre ordering games now after so many have glitched at launch so likely will wait for reviews / updates before buying as there’s gonna be so many games to play around that time anyway!!
I don’t think we can compare the offerings between the three big hitters as they all use very different business models. I’m happy with PS plus as it is and think it’s great value. If they focus on a larger combined library with some third party day 1 releases I’d still be happy to buy a physical copy of Sony studios exclusives as I generally re sell once played so that is very good value for me. Games pass is ok, but there’s nowhere near enough good new games to make “day 1” worthwhile for me.
I guess another perspective is that a season of binge worthy TV is around 6-7 hours, so for a big game that may, in TV terms take 3 seasons to tell a decent story so 18-21 hours feels right to me.
Purely depends on the game. What I do want to see less of is blatant go to B, do this then back to A, now do this, now back to B. Feels like padding out a story for the sake of it rather than a good use of storytelling narrative.
Great to see more content coming. I’m happy with timed exclusives. The best games on the ps4 were pretty much the Sony exclusive ones and that’s been the case for me since PS1, Xbox and N64. Interesting comments here but I don’t see anyone saying Mario should be on all platforms…. It’s a company’s IP and they have the right to make all the money they can off their investment. If it means better games for us and talent being able to show us what they can do then great. If not, don’t buy it.
