Re: Death Stranding 2 Seems Like a Lock for Gamescom Opening Night Live

Batesy125s

I can't wait. I know the first had a mixed reaction, but I loved it, it was one of my favourite PS4 games. Yes Kojima is weird and a fair bit pretentious, but I love him and I'd rather that than some of the other coolie cutter games that get released. Hiking through the Icelandic seeming environment is still on of the most beautiful and poignant moments in games. Day 1 purchase for me

@somnambulance I wish my wife would play these with me but although she likes games that aren't too hard, she doesn't like story based games that don't have much "gameplay". I however love the life is strange games, and I find the characters relatable, despite me being in my 30s and British, so pretty much the opposite of the characters. This and mixtape are high on my most anticipated game list.

Re: Pour One Out for Iconic US Gaming Mag Game Informer

Batesy125s

I remember before GTA 5 came out Game informer had a big blowout with all the information.

They also had really great covers whenever there was a big game. It's sad to see the death or print media. Throughout my teens and early 20s I used to read a few gaming mags, and apart from Edge they're all gone

Re: Video Game Performers to Strike Due to AI Concerns

Batesy125s

I'm glad they're doing this, as everybody deserves to be paid for the work they do, as the SAG AFTRA says.

I think AI is a great tool that can be used for good, but the companies just seem to want to replace human beings with a cheaper alternative, rather than utilising it as what it is - a tool.

Also video games are an art form and although not everyone will agree the voice actors are artists that bring together the whole performances and story. Until AI can understand human emotions, it will never be able to write anything more than a basic story with 1 dimensional characters

Re: Talking Point: Was Sony Right to Resist Adding PS5 Exclusives to PS Plus Day One?

Batesy125s

Honestly I think they should keep first party games off day one, if its a game I'm interested in I will buy it anyway

That being said the increase in game pass still works out good value for money. That's £15 a month for hundreds of games. I used to rent games back in the day at £3.50 just for a weekend. Some months I would get 3, 4 maybe 5 so it would cost that much any way. £15 a month and you get access to all those games is just unreal value for money

Re: PlayStation Returns as TGS Exhibitor for the First Time Since 2019

Batesy125s

Hopefully this means under new management there will at least be some return to more japanese centric games being featured. The closure of playstaing japan studios still hurts.

Also if they're returning to TGS, any chance of them bringing back playstation experience? Thought that was great and some big games were revealed there, such as Uncharted lost legacy

Re: Golden Order Restored as Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree Recovers from Review Bombing

Batesy125s

@ishaajo840 I agree with part of it, that poor PC performance is a valid reason to complain. But calling a Fromsoft game is too gard is like going to the Sistine Chapel and saying "great place, but I didn't like that painting in the ceiling". Hard difficulty has always been part of the games' identities. I'm not amazing at them and find them hard, but that's on me not the game

Re: Poll: Can a Game's Brutal Difficultly Put You Off Playing It?

Batesy125s

I don't shy away from them because sometimes I just fancy playing a game that is challenging. But I will say with limited time I don't tend to play too many. Maybe one or 2 tough games a year. I also don't mind going backwards and forwards to a game over the course of a few month. I don't feel like I need to finish a game quickly

Re: FromSoftware Boss Puts Elden Ring Difficulty Discourse to Bed, Once and For All

Batesy125s

I agree that the games are meant to be hard and it's all about the sense of achievement. I wouldn't say I'm good at soulsborne games but I've finished DS1 and 3, Bloodborne and Sekiro (got stuck on fire giant on Elden ring).

Also what people who don't play it don't get is that if you level up and get some of the best weapons in the game, you can make the game easy it just takes a bit of time. I managed to beat some of the harder bosses in Bloodborne in a handful of hits

Re: Disco Elysium Successor Cruelly Cancelled in 2024 Would Have Been 'Most Hardcore Disco Since Disco'

Batesy125s

@TJ81 I completely agree. I mena obviously no one likes getting talked down to, but I don't think that is the intention of either Kojima or the Disco elysium devs. I just feel that whenever a piece of media tries to get a little artsy, it's straight away labelled as pretentious, or up its own arse. I just feel like with media like that you just have to go "this isn't for me" and move on.

I've been a fan of Kojima since MGS 2 and I've loved all of his games, but it did take me 2 attempts to actually get into Death stranding properly. With Disco elysium I got it on offer around November and thought I'd play it for a few hours and I would be done. It ended up being my 5th most played game of last year

Re: Disco Elysium Successor Cruelly Cancelled in 2024 Would Have Been 'Most Hardcore Disco Since Disco'

Batesy125s

Such a great game amd I loved the writing and characters. I get people think it's pretentious but then that just becomes a by-word for "I didn't understand it and/or it didn't resonate with me" People call Kojima pretentious, which is a fair point but then his games are full of great ideas.

If Shakespeare was still alive he would probably be pretentious, but it doesn't change the fact that he's the greatest writer the world has ever known

Re: Dragon Age: The Veilguard Reveal Has Utterly Torn Fan Opinion as Trailer Gets Slaughtered

Batesy125s

@Weez I understand where you're coming from with the splash screens and the little quippy way they introduced the characters, I just don't think it was that bad, though it was a good way to show off the characters.

And as you say the little gameplay snippet looked good so hopefully will win people over and be the Dragon age people want. Me personally I'm looking forward to this as I loved Inquisition and its now been a full decade since a Dragon age game. I'm hoping it's a return to form but as you say we can reserve judgement until we've seen more

Re: Dragon Age: The Veilguard Reveal Has Utterly Torn Fan Opinion as Trailer Gets Slaughtered

Batesy125s

Don't know what the problem is. The art is a stylised aesthetic and is definitely what the original games wanted to look like. The whole "getting a team together" thing is one of my favourite themes in movies, amd is why Mass effect 2 is easily the best of the trilogy. And as for it being "woke" well as soon as that word is used the opinion becomes invalid and of no merit
