Although there were a couple of decent ish reveals (personally I like the look of the new Mafia) but this was easily the most exciting reveal for me. Love, death + robots season 1 and 2 are some of the best shows to come to Netflix
I can't wait to play timesplitters 2 again. Still the best multiplayer gaming sessions for me, had so many hours played with friends, some who are no longer with us
I can't wait. I know the first had a mixed reaction, but I loved it, it was one of my favourite PS4 games. Yes Kojima is weird and a fair bit pretentious, but I love him and I'd rather that than some of the other coolie cutter games that get released. Hiking through the Icelandic seeming environment is still on of the most beautiful and poignant moments in games. Day 1 purchase for me
@Fiendish-Beaver agreed. Its definitely going to end up in my top 10 and I'm not even halfway through currently. Such a fantastic game with great story and characters you really connect with. And as previously said, it's the little touches and things they put in that most people will never see that makes it stand out
@somnambulance I wish my wife would play these with me but although she likes games that aren't too hard, she doesn't like story based games that don't have much "gameplay". I however love the life is strange games, and I find the characters relatable, despite me being in my 30s and British, so pretty much the opposite of the characters. This and mixtape are high on my most anticipated game list.
Currently playing Hades on Steam deck, the perfect Steam deck game.
On PS5: probably going to continue my journey towards the platinum on Elden ring. Amd may continue my journey in Trails of cold steel 2 for something a little more light-hearted
I remember before GTA 5 came out Game informer had a big blowout with all the information.
They also had really great covers whenever there was a big game. It's sad to see the death or print media. Throughout my teens and early 20s I used to read a few gaming mags, and apart from Edge they're all gone
@Godot25 I think genre defining has been bandied about a bit too much recently. That being said BG3, Elden ring and Legend of Zelda: TOTK are all stand out titles in their respective genres, so I suppose technically are genre defining
@nomither6 my wife just started playing a couple of months back, she loved the game. That being said I can't imagine it being a "massive success" or being bigger than borderlands
@nessisonett I agree but to be fair I love the idea of letting players switch it off. I like trying to figure it out and I love games like Baldurs gate, elden ring and Zelda TOTK that give me the freedom of working things out for myself
Good to see at least 21% of people voting haven't played it. Either that or they should never be trusted to review anything. Not saying it deserves a good rating as I also haven't played it. But for something to be abysmal it would have to be a thoroughly fundamentally broken game in every aspect
I'm really looking forward to the Yakuza tv show. Films and shows have really turned a corner in the last few years, starting with the Sonic movie. I don't think there has been a genuinely bad on in a few years
@Max_the_German I agree with you, but I know a lot of people who hate open world games because they have no guide and prefer to know what they're doing next
@colonelkilgore yeah I'm the same, was mainly into JRPGs back in the day, although I also played MGS and capcom games such as Resident evil. But I missed out on a few games that are now considered classics, such as these and Castlevanie SOTN
I'm glad they're doing this, as everybody deserves to be paid for the work they do, as the SAG AFTRA says.
I think AI is a great tool that can be used for good, but the companies just seem to want to replace human beings with a cheaper alternative, rather than utilising it as what it is - a tool.
Also video games are an art form and although not everyone will agree the voice actors are artists that bring together the whole performances and story. Until AI can understand human emotions, it will never be able to write anything more than a basic story with 1 dimensional characters
The statistics of 93% buying digital is crazy to me. I buy most of the games I'm most excited for physically, although if its not on my "must buy" list I do sometimes buy on sale digitally or play through ps plus or game pass. But I'd always have a place in my heart (and on my shelves) for physical releases
I upgraded to the ps4 Pro but honestly I think I will leave this until the PS6. Currently no game has really pushed the PS5 so I'd prefer to see some new game releases rather than a new console with no new games
The first tales game I ever played. Although I still have never finished a tales game. Might go back to arise or Beseria after I've finished the Trails games, as I've been on a big JRPG kick recently
Honestly I think they should keep first party games off day one, if its a game I'm interested in I will buy it anyway
That being said the increase in game pass still works out good value for money. That's £15 a month for hundreds of games. I used to rent games back in the day at £3.50 just for a weekend. Some months I would get 3, 4 maybe 5 so it would cost that much any way. £15 a month and you get access to all those games is just unreal value for money
@Cry_Zero this is only a partial list so there probably will be. That being said the fact that they haven't leaked leads me to believe that they won't be particularly great ones
@AgentMantis fair enough, thank you. As a weeb myself (although I've never though of any character as a waifu 🤣) I love a fun anime story and this always interested me because of that.but I was put off because of the thought that I'd hit a wall and wouldn't be able to continue unless I paid money
@get2sammyb thank you, I appreciate that. To be fair that's what I was hoping , that I could earn characters just by playing the game. I also dont mind spending every once in a while, say if there's a crossover character
Genuine question, and I'm not asking for people who haven't played it to tell me it's terrible or anything like that but; can I play it as a single player without having to spend loads on the gacha elements,? Because I'm interested in the premise
Great game for fans of anime. To be honest it's not often we anime sickos get a decent game based on anime properties. Looking at you, Jump force. Can't wait for the new dragonball game tbh
Hopefully this means under new management there will at least be some return to more japanese centric games being featured. The closure of playstaing japan studios still hurts.
Also if they're returning to TGS, any chance of them bringing back playstation experience? Thought that was great and some big games were revealed there, such as Uncharted lost legacy
I only found this series properly in 2020 after hearing about it years ago, and I'm still only on 2. Need to get back and finish it because I do love the story and characters, but the dated nature of the gameplay means I have to take breaks for a while and come back, as I just hit a wall
@ishaajo840 I agree with part of it, that poor PC performance is a valid reason to complain. But calling a Fromsoft game is too gard is like going to the Sistine Chapel and saying "great place, but I didn't like that painting in the ceiling". Hard difficulty has always been part of the games' identities. I'm not amazing at them and find them hard, but that's on me not the game
@CrashBandicoat yeah I would imagine so, or at least I'd hope so. I've actually gone back to Everybody's gone to the rapture as I'd never played that one. Also a fantastic game. I also love that you get different accents on their games. Not often you hear a Scottish accent that sounds authentic and not like a parody
Good to hear they haven't forgotten about it, but I'm not sure how much I believe this. Maybe when there is a release date it will feel like a real game, so let's say another 10 years
Good to see Still wakes the deep is in there. Although this doesn't prove much until the digital sales go up, but its such a great game and I hope it continues to do well
That sounds really cool. I love a game like this to break up all the AAA dozen hour games. Also What remains of Edith Finch is a fantastic narrative experience. Played it over the course of a night back in 2019 and its still one of my favourite gaming memories
I don't shy away from them because sometimes I just fancy playing a game that is challenging. But I will say with limited time I don't tend to play too many. Maybe one or 2 tough games a year. I also don't mind going backwards and forwards to a game over the course of a few month. I don't feel like I need to finish a game quickly
I agree that the games are meant to be hard and it's all about the sense of achievement. I wouldn't say I'm good at soulsborne games but I've finished DS1 and 3, Bloodborne and Sekiro (got stuck on fire giant on Elden ring).
Also what people who don't play it don't get is that if you level up and get some of the best weapons in the game, you can make the game easy it just takes a bit of time. I managed to beat some of the harder bosses in Bloodborne in a handful of hits
@TJ81 I completely agree. I mena obviously no one likes getting talked down to, but I don't think that is the intention of either Kojima or the Disco elysium devs. I just feel that whenever a piece of media tries to get a little artsy, it's straight away labelled as pretentious, or up its own arse. I just feel like with media like that you just have to go "this isn't for me" and move on.
I've been a fan of Kojima since MGS 2 and I've loved all of his games, but it did take me 2 attempts to actually get into Death stranding properly. With Disco elysium I got it on offer around November and thought I'd play it for a few hours and I would be done. It ended up being my 5th most played game of last year
The xbox one was great, the others were very meh. The astro and horizon reveals were good for playstation. And I only watched Ubisoft for more info on AC and Star wars. They might as well have done 2 individual streams and not have had a fill showcase
Such a great game amd I loved the writing and characters. I get people think it's pretentious but then that just becomes a by-word for "I didn't understand it and/or it didn't resonate with me" People call Kojima pretentious, which is a fair point but then his games are full of great ideas.
If Shakespeare was still alive he would probably be pretentious, but it doesn't change the fact that he's the greatest writer the world has ever known
I love this. I actually never played any of them back in the day, as I was moving away from playing platforms at that point, but now I'd love to go back and play them all, after how well loved they all are
I bought this on sale the other day and am absolutely loving it. Only recently got past the first boss though so still time before I can definitely say I love it
@Weez I understand where you're coming from with the splash screens and the little quippy way they introduced the characters, I just don't think it was that bad, though it was a good way to show off the characters.
And as you say the little gameplay snippet looked good so hopefully will win people over and be the Dragon age people want. Me personally I'm looking forward to this as I loved Inquisition and its now been a full decade since a Dragon age game. I'm hoping it's a return to form but as you say we can reserve judgement until we've seen more
@Weez but it doesn't have a lack of aesthetic, it has a stylised aesthetic just like 1 and 2 did. And as for the infantile tome, the characters don't speak much differently to the characters in Baldurs gate 3, which are generally considered well written
Don't know what the problem is. The art is a stylised aesthetic and is definitely what the original games wanted to look like. The whole "getting a team together" thing is one of my favourite themes in movies, amd is why Mass effect 2 is easily the best of the trilogy. And as for it being "woke" well as soon as that word is used the opinion becomes invalid and of no merit
