I love that we're getting all these titles on playstation, however you'd think Microsoft would be a little more tactical with their release schedule. No need to release them on top of eachother!
My personal favourite... I was 11 years old when I got mine so this console defined those early years. Gaming during the PS2 and PS3 was incredible, E3 was like Christmas.
I was just so excited and fascinated by this industry during these years.
Great review, I'm yet to try a two point game but I've had an eye on this one. something about it being in a museum, it just sounds like fun! Also, I love the points made about it having a sense of humour, a big win for me.
Tren, built by Media Molecule within Dreams (and brought to my attention by Push Square) was an absolute highlight for me and my kids. What an awesome little project that was.
Great achievement from the team. Sounds like all versions of the game run well though so it's just a generally well optimised game which deserves praise these days.
I'm not sure the game is for me, but it's good to see!
This can't have been that costly a game to make, I wonder what the margins were really like? 1.3 mill doesn't sound that bad to me for a smaller title...
I loved it tbh, thought it was super fun and high quality... I was kind of optimistic thinking Ubi might start investing in a mix of AAA and A titles but yeah, not happening.
Wow, this is so neat! I shall be looking through some of these when I get chance. Print media was kind of beautiful in its own way... No offence Push Square, you're cool too.
I must say I loved the original Factions in TLOU. It does seem these modern games are to big and complicated though to include a multiplayer component as well like back on the PS3.
Wouldn't it be cool if they found an awesome FPS multiplayer focused studio and just made an old school Killzone game? I'd be interested for sure but would it really attract the numbers they want to see? I'm unsure
I'm unsure but aren't these guys a pretty experienced MMO team?
I don't mind Sony trying to get into this space, but what I don't like seeing is the first party studios that have traditionally made steller single player titles producing them.
I think Helldivers is a great example, get a talented third party team that's proven in this space and nurture an excellent live service game with them, let the first party do what they're good at.
I do think Sony should be trying to be in this space to be honest. They can nail it and it's been proven.
At 61 you do feel like we're nearing the end of his career. It's sad to think about but how many games do some of these guys have left in them? Kojima, Ken Levine, Neil Druckman and so on, you have to savour what these people do! They won't be making games forever and these dev cycles are so long now.
I played this earlier in the year on my steamdeck. This is a fantastic video game, one of my favourites this year. I'll purchase it again on playstation when I fancy it. These devs deserve all the praise and success they're getting!
I'm pretty sure Silent Hill isn't patched, however I purchased it thinking it would be based on the enhanced tag. I'll still play it but its not a good look and what's more annoying is I can't find anything from Sony or Bloober to confirm or deny
Interesting stuff! The idea sounds neat but what I like most of all Is seeing the commitment to the original vision from Neowiz.
Games are a wonderful creative space but the modern age lacks that a little from a big budget perspective imo. Love to see it! Will keep an eye on this one, thanks push square.
I don't really get a kick out of an unboxing video but doing it yourself is great fun. It's super exciting getting new hardware, I hope everyone getting one has fun on Thursday!
@get2sammyb Maybe I'm being a grumpy Gus... It's just a remake is soon to be here, this Lego game, the rumoured MMO and tv show that was in the works (which appears to be on hold now?).
Like i say, maybe I'm being grumpy. I liked Forbidden West alot and it's exciting for these things to go dormant and appear years later.
I don't like that Sony is pushing the Horizon IP so hard. I like the Horizon games, but they're falling into the trap of too much, too soon. Give it time to breath and I think most will be more excited about the brand.
But... it does look charming and fun, I think ill probably enjoy this with my kids someday. From a technical point of view, that's a very pretty looking video game, the dev team have done a great job it seems.
I started a playthrough of Detroit become human... It'll be my second playthrough but I remember little of it so I'm looking forward to it! Have a great weekend everybody
Ubisoft is in trouble... I don't buy alot of ubi games, they don't appeal to me but they have some great IP and Id really like to see them capitalize on it. A triple A splinter cell game? Gimme. I don't want to see them fall, they just need to figure out what gamers want. I just think the desire for these humongous open worlds aren't what they used to be?
I'm just kind of over this formula of video game. The massive 50 hour open world. I did enjoy them alot for many years but I just don't want to go from place to place doing a similar mission structure and getting upgrades anymore.
I crave linear story titles so much at the moment and nobody really seems to be making them anymore. It makes me kinda of sad haha. Even more gutting that Dead Space remake didn't achieve the numbers to warrant any investment in this style of video game.
Looks interesting .I've played a few of The Chinese Rooms previous titles and they're pretty good to be fair.
I've just finished Nine sols on my Steam deck and I need something a little more straightforward to play. I've tried to not read much of your review and go in as blind as I can lol. Looks like it performs fine and there is a good setting/story to digest. thanks for bringing this to my attention push square!
@Zuljarasan, what a game Hollow Knight is! I am playing Nine Sols on my steam deck and this game is up there with Hollow Knight for me. You should keep it on your radar as it's coming to playstation. These games are so much better to me than the titles coming from the big publishers at the moment.
Astro looks great and I was surprised by how much i enjoyed the Lego Horizon trailer.
I want both of these types of games & more from Sony! A new Fumito Ueda game? Give it, give it now!
What I truly miss are the riskier titles, Journey, Fat Princess etc. Those days are long gone and not just for Sony, it seems nobody want's these titles in their portfolio anymore which I find kind of depressing.
Ill buy Astro for sure, but I'm keen to see what the big studios are working on and I am becoming a little impatient now.
C'mon Sony, win me over again. You're losing me a little over here and I've been a diehard from the beginning.
I'd love some smaller titles. Games like fat princess or journey were really fun and interesting and it seemed like sony were taking risks with these titles. I really miss that era of playstation, now it's all very predictable.
This was a great game. The platforming is particularly good in my opinion.
I've become quite the fan of Ubisoft Montpellier. I think they have great talent and vision and i look forward to what comes next!
In an industry of exploding budgets it was refreshing to play something a little smaller in scope but just as deep in lots of other ways... I just hope it was successful enough for ubi to take notice.
if this is true it'll be really disappointing to me. This gen is so dull, particularly Sony themselves! when it's all said and done, are we gonna say these remakes defined the generation? C'mon, give us some original games!
I'm a long time fan of the brand but i feel a little let down so far from the first party, they came out pretty strong with games such as Demons Souls and Returnal but what is going on with some of these Studios?
I know we're long past it, but the Sony of old used to have this mix of IP in Uncharted, God of war etc mixed with strange titles like Fat Princess & Journey. This lack of experimentation is disappointing for me personally.
I know I'm in the minority, but if we see more of the same with titles such as Spider Man, TLOU or God of war, things really will start to feel stale. I want something new! and it shouldn't have to cost $250 million to produce it.
I've played GTA my whole life, started out playing the top down series on my parents PC as a kid. The series is no doubt legendary and I really hope this game elevates the gameplay to new heights. I can't get excited about the Rockstar formula which has been copied to death. particularly in an open world modern city setting.
I loved Red Dead but that games setting is what makes it special to me and for whatever reason, I let it off the hook more so than GTA.
GTA V had some stand out moments, the heists to be specific & I hope 6 has more of this on offer.
Sony understands audio and it's headphones are some of the best around. Glad to hear they're good, however i think Sony make themselves look pretty bad when they force users to use these for use with the Portal rather than the option of Bluetooth buds.
@somnambulance I totally agree with you... It's my favourite thing out of Media Molecule aswell.
I actually think this is what that studio should become, releasing super creative smaller titles to compliment the big releases from the other Sony studios. Tren is such high quality fun. I've shown a few friends who are bigger on the PC side and they've all loved it. It's criminal it's not more accessible, I'm positive it would kill on steam.
It's been odd with this game. I haven't experienced any bugs whatsoever and I'm 20 hours in now but seems like some have had a pretty iffy experience. Good on them for getting a patch out to address it though.
Haven't started Spiderman yet, I'm currently playing lies of p and while it's a great game... I gotta say I feel it's a touch too long now that I'm towards the end.
A tight 20 hours or so sounds perfect. In some cases, games are becoming so big and bloated to justify the price tags. Remember uncharted 2? A tight 10 to 12 hours or so? I sort of miss this philosophy.
@Th3solution I hope you're right. We're in a strange position as fans, we'd usually know what's coming by now but we're 3 years into the console and still no official word from many of these studios! Here's hoping we get a big showcase soon!

Re: Frostpunk 2 Wrestles PS5 Release Window into Place, Thaws Summer 2025
I hear nothing but great things about Frostpunk. I'm looking forward to trying it myself.
I wonder how it'll perform? Isn't this game a bit of a monster on PC?

i think ill be picking this one up at some point.
Re: Yoshida: I Played The Last of Us Online And It Was Great
Yeah okay, but still... A god of war live service game? From Bluepoint... That shouldn't have been greenlit.
It is disappointing we shall never see factions in any form, I'd have been happy with a small factions project! The first was great fun
Re: Sony XDEV Urges Fans to Tune in to PS5 Livestream Today
That is so disappointing haha. I was even beginning to dream of something new being announced on top of Death Stranding... Oh well. I feel silly lol

Re: Intergalactic PS5 Is Naughty Dog's Wildest, Most Creative Story Yet

Re: Out Today: PS5 Pro, the Most Powerful Console Ever

Re: PS5, PC Flop Concord Never Returning, Studio Closed Down
Crazy, I still can't believe Sony bought this team when they hadn't proven a thing. Historically, Sony works with a studio many times before buying.
I hope they've learnt there lesson...They've made some costly mistakes this generation!
