The wonderful Dreams has just received its latest update. Media Molecule's create-anything sandbox is now up to version 2.20, and the new patch is ready for download. So, what does this update do?
The headline change this time around is threaded comments. In the past, when you viewed the comments on a creation, they were laid out horizontally, and it was hard to keep track of conversations and replies. Now with the new update, comments and replies are displayed much more clearly. You scroll vertically to view comments, and can unfurl any replies you want to read. It's not the biggest update ever, but it definitely improves this aspect of the game.
Additionally, any Media Molecule-made prizes you unlock are now remixable. What that means is that you can now edit them and use them in your own creations, which is neat. Aside from that, there are some UI improvements and squashed bugs.
Here's the patch notes:
- Threaded Comments: Hurrah! When replying to a comment, your message will now be threaded below the comment you're replying to.
- Mm Prizes: Not one. Not two. But ALL the Mm Prizes are now remixable, including those from Imp Quests! This will prevent you encountering any publishing issues if you use them in a creation.
- Banner Indicator: Added an indicator below banners in DreamSurfing and DreamShaping, indicating your position in the banner roll.
- DreamSurfing Thumbnails: The warp on creation thumbnails has been reduced, meaning they'll display more clearly.
- Audio Effect Field Collection Update: Updated some of the Elements released in our last update to newer versions.
- Fixed a bug preventing the setting for the Save Online Reminder prompt being correctly remembered.
- Fixed a bug that would show users an incorrect banner first when loading DreamSurfing.
- Fixed a bug that would cause a crash when accepting updates on music which had many updates.
Check out the full rundown here. What do you think of this update? Are you happy with these adjustments? Daydream in the comments section below.

I need to dive back into Dreams this Christmas and see what the community's been up to. Incredible game.
Please don't let this one die, Sony! It deserves so much more
I gotta make time for this amazing game! Maybe after cyberpunk
Glad to see Dreams get an update. I played through Art's Dream and a bunch of user created stuff when it first came out, including this site's interactive review. It was great stuff, but it made my PS4 Pro wheeze like an old man climbing stairs. Now on PS5 it runs whisper quiet and I can put more time in without annoying other members of the household. Also, it has a relatively small install size so you get a lot of bang for your buck on the SSD.
Reading from top to bottom! What a novel concept!! lol.
I really need to learn how to create, i started during the beta but have forgotten everything since.
@TeapotBuddha Music creation on it is essentially the same as LBP as far as I looked. I've made music on LBP and it's come out good. I'd say the tools are slightly better here. It's basically like a piano roll on FL. If you know how to use it manually then this is a good music creation tool for fun. A good example is you can make game music without much issue on it as well as the fact the ending cover song for time moves slow was done in game as far as I'm aware. So it's what you're willing to do I guess. May need to look at some YouTube videos and look up Time moves slow Dreams.
@get2sammyb all the good games are now being released. There's a game Octane (not by the community @Octane ) and it's great! There is also a ton more collaboration by people who are better in particular field. So visual artists mixing with logic experts and musicians. Get on it Sammy you can build your own decoration for the Christmas tree!
@iKickBullies @TeapotBuddha if you love music production you will love Dreams. I haven't updated my YouTube videos properly and my latest stuff is better but have a listen to this;

In fact some things in Dreams are better than a typical PC DAW. Once you work out all the nuances you can include animations to automate wave forms which is like way advanced. Here's another example;

Again these are from a few months ago and I've got well better by joining up with the Dreams Sounds Monday crew and my abilities have levelled up.
Anything in particular you recommend giving a go on there? @themcnoisy
I do pop on from time to time to have a quick play.
@LieutenantFatman I will send you a list of the best games in a day or two. Want to get the definitive list and send it over for everyone. Will ask the big curators and then everyone can have a go. In the meantime search for the_tenia and he has a score wars contest, those games are usually decent.
If you can LF listen to my tune Rocket Fuel. It's a song so you can't search on the Dreamiverse but look up my name mc_noisy and it's one of the last songs I've made. It's the best song I've ever made!
@TeapotBuddha so if you have previously used music production software and would rather not fork out for a DAW licence then Dreams is great. As well as the music suite you can play around with logic - that's when the fun really starts!
