Don’t Starve Together takes the addictive gameplay loop from the original survival title and applies it to multiplayer. Playing locally or online, two players will be gathering resources, building equipment, and trying to stay out of harm’s way as you explore the wilderness. A second player can both help and hinder your chances, so communication is key to making progress in this fun, challenging co-op game.

14. Far Cry 5 (PS4)
The Far Cry series has had limited coop before, but Far Cry 5 goes all-in with the ability to play with a buddy through the entire game. You can tackle the main missions or outposts, but the best way to play is to simply free roam causing as much havoc as you like. With Far Cry's plentiful dynamic systems, there's no limit to the crazy scenarios you and a friend will create for yourselves in Hope County.
Playing Wildlands cooperatively is absolutely the best way to experience it. Having a squad of buddies means you can talk tactics and plan out your attacks, or simply fumble your way through together. Whatever your approach, the game’s huge sandbox and open-ended objectives make for a decent online co-op experience that can provide some excellent, explosive moments.
In many ways, Rock Band 4 is the ultimate coop game – after all, who doesn’t want to form a music group with their friends? This new-gen edition of Harmonix’s plastic instruments fad may have failed to rekindle the commercial glories of past instalments, but it’s still pretty bloody fun – and it’s packing an enormous song selection to boot.
11. Fortnite (PS4)
Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode may have usurped its co-operative nuts and bolts, but there’s still a lot to like about Epic Games’ long overdue construction combat game when you’re playing alongside pals. While the gameplay largely resembles your standard four-player Horde mode, the building element adds an extra strategic layer to the third-person action.
