Well, here’s a game that we’ll almost certainly be palming off to Stephen Tailby to review when it launches on 23rd October – not that we won’t be giving him the stink-eye while he plays it. Nickelodeon Kart Racers is a real game, and it features characters from SpongeBob Squarepants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Hey Arnold, and Rugrats. Say what?
That’s right, there are a total of 12 characters, including Arnold, Helga, SpongeBob, Tommy, and Angelica. What about Chuckie, dammit? There’ll be 24 tracks all inspired by the Nickelodeon shows mentioned above, including the Pickles' home. The actual kart racing itself will have a jet-ski mechanic to it, which you’ll need to take advantage of when the road makes way to slime. Gross.
Erm, yeah. There’ll be competitive and co-operative local multiplayer, although there’s no mention of online play. It’s about time the Rugrats rocked up in a game again – that PSone platformer was an absolute classic.

Eh these kinda games are always inferior when it comes to Mario Kart. It's wonder why anyone would want them.

It'd be better if all 12 characters were from TMNT. Also this title could easily have a whole lot more characters generally. Pretty sure each one of those shows could have about 10 characters without getting too obscure. I'm assuming there are plans to add a lot of them as DLC?

Also, who's going to buy a Kart racer based on some pretty old cartoons a few weeks before the only real Mario Kart competition (Team Sonic Racing) comes out?

As much as I detest Nickelodeon, I must admit, the PS4 is lacking in kart racers. There are worse game ideas being produced.

Who is this even aimed at? Kids today won't care about most of these characters. Millennials pushing mid-life who want to re-experience 90's icons like grotesque talking baby and child with a football shaped head?

@Ralizah that is a good point. But the series featured have been in pretty heavy rotation almost continuously since the 90s. My 11 year old spent a fair time watching enough of them growing up too.

@Tasuki nostalgia I'd be interested in this if it had Rocko in it, as someone who doesn't own a Nintendo console I'm ready for a good kart racer, will be pick up Sonic Team Racing (which I'm a little sad has been changed from the All Stars line) but there's always room for more. I'd actually love a Sony kart racer with the stack of characters you could have a great line up

This is pretty cool, brings back memories of my childhood. I wish they had more than 12 playable characters though. Hopefully they have playable characters from "Ahh! Real Monsters", "Doug", and "Rocko's Modern Life". Those were my favorite shows.
What about Alanis Morissette or Count Duckula?
They should also throw in some Double Dare obstacle course tracks for good measure.
@get2sammyb could you please edit the article? It claims there are 12 characters, but that's a bit misleading. There are 12 characters confirmed so far, as well as 12 Nickelodeon IPs to be represented, with only 4 IP shown so far (meaning an absolute minimum of 8 more characters)

Anyway, IN THEORY, I want to like this game but have quite low expectations right now. If the final roster satisfies my nostalgia enough I might get it regardless of quality.
