There's been no shortage of Crash Bandicoot craziness over the past couple of years, but we get the distinct impression that things are about to heat up on Wumpa Island. According to a NeoGAF post, Lex Lang – who voiced Dr. Neo Cortex in the more recent Crash titles – has been asked to "resurrect" a "doctor" from a game gone by. We can't see the original post as we're not friends with the actor – but the screengrab embedded in this article certainly doesn't look like a fake.
A Crash Bandicoot fan site later got in touch with Lang, sending him a winking emoticon followed by a series of question marks on Twitter, which the voice actor later liked. Now, it's worth stressing that the veteran has voiced a lot of characters over the course of his career, so he could be referring to something else entirely. However, given the constant rumours regarding Crash – including Shawn Layden's infamous choice of tee – we reckon that there's something brewing.

E3 is only a month away and I think we all know that at some point during the Sony panel Crash will make his appearance. This is turning into far too much information to be nothing.
Here's hoping this E3 ends all the years of teasing and rumors as I want Crash back.
Yep, cancelled that project now. No feasibility in competing with Crash. Smooth Sony.
And @get2sammyb might want to use a screenshot that isn't from a Nintendo exclusive title. I know it makes your blood turn blue.
Blah Tom Clancy is the real Cortex!
@PlaytendoGuy
At this point, all I want at E3 is Crash Bandicoot and a Sucker Punch-developed Spider-Man game.
@BLPs What project has been cancelled? And yeah, that's honestly the best picture of Crash on the web, though, so it'll do.
@Gamer83 That would be a great show. Throw in a Last Guardian release date and I'd be very satisfied, too.
@get2sammyb
I think the third thing I'd want is an announcement of external harddrive support. Crash, Spider-Man from Sucker Punch and the option for external storage and I'm happy with that for a show. A more in-depth look at Gran Turismo Sport would be a bonus.
@get2sammyb That's the best image? Good lord. Also, nice admitting the vitriol to the competition
As for the project, it was a platformer in the Crash style, but given the attention and funding that an actual Crash game would get, as well as the failures of the target consoles involved, I decided with the team that it was best to shelve it, even though its near 2 years in.
@BLPs Are you talking about the prototype Renegade Kid worked on for about 2 weeks?
@Churchy No, personal project of mine.
@BLPs Why would you shelve two years' work when nothing's been announced?
@get2sammyb Because the console(s) are practically dead and if Sony does come out with something, well it'd be a game that would be DOA. Plus it's not working out as well as hoped. Numerous setbacks including flooding to my composer's studio destroying equipment has just made things either slow to a crawl or stop entirely.
This is just the final nail really. At this point, after waiting for insurance to pay on his end, all the setbacks on mine, the recent news about the target platform, and now Sony on a never-ending hype train (And with their install base there is no way I'd even get close to breaking even at this point) I'm just saying stuff it, moving on to something else.
Will eventually get a crash imo. When? Who the heck knows.
@get2sammyb
Man, will you ever get over that stupid shirt?
@sinalefa Not until Crash is back, baby!
What I really want is a new Crash game made by Naughty Dog. But I think Naughty Dog is behind Crash. :/
It's weird seeing the hype for this. To me, Crash Bandicoot was just a game that was on one of the demo discs from the Official Playstation Magazine in the UK. I played the demo once, though "yep, that's a cartoon platfomer" and never thought about it again.
It must be a generational thing. I was about 15 or so when it came out, I'm 33 now. I imagine if I was about 28 or less, it would've been a bigger deal to me back then, like Sonic was before it. It reminds me of that early post-Nintendo (aka PS1 era before anyone realised that Nintendo were in a serious decline) hangover where gaming companies all thought they needed a cartoon mascot of some sort and they felt weird if they didn't have one.
That said, it's great for people that grew up with it and I'm very happy for them to be maybe - sorry, DEFINITELY - getting a new game.
I hope whoever remakes it uses the old Crash design and not his newer look
I (James not the mad doctor beside me) was listening to the soundtrack today!
