You just can't stop Nathan Drake's voice actor, Nolan North, from belting out some incredible headlines, can you? This time, the prolific video game star has been talking to the Official PlayStation Magazine, and he's relayed a rather interesting quote from none other than director J.J. Abrams - the man behind the upcoming Star Wars sequel.
"He said the opening of Uncharted 2 was the best opening of a game, television show or movie he's ever seen," North told the publication. A bold claim, and North also mentions that Naughty Dog's brilliant franchise is the main reason why Abrams cast him in Star Trek Into Darkness.
No matter which way you look at it, that's one heck of a quote, and obviously some striking praise for the Uncharted franchise - the second game in particular.
But do you agree with Abrams? Is Uncharted 2's opening really that spectacular? See how many times you can fit the words 'oh crap' into the comments section below.

It was pretty freaking good...
If it isn't it's not far off. Bioshock's was pretty good too. THose are the first two that pop into my head.
It has since been bettered by The Last of Us, that would be the intro I would attribute as the best I've ever seen from any game, television show or movie.
I quite enjoyed it - not a bad way for a tutorial to start. and interspersing it with the back story and reason you ended up on the train...
Naughty Gods
I like nearly all his work but clearly he's bat sh*t
@Dohv Naughty Gods indeed.
Uncharted itself was spectacular just like Uncharted 4 will be, but going off the full E3 Demo I really think Uncharted 4 will be stunning.
All I want to do now is play Uncharted again. I wish the PS4 collection wasn't so expensive. Although there's no arguing that it's very much worth the price, I still can't really justify paying £50 for 3 games I already own! Oh well, will just have to wait a bit and grab it around Christmas / January sales, still plenty of time to recap prior to 4 releasing!
wait...he was in Star Trek 2?
It was a pretty good opening for sure. I was shocked when I put the game in and that was the first thing I saw.
@viciousarcanum Apparently it was a minor part as an officer on some ship!
@SteveButler2210 I must admit I was a little disappointed with the price point of the Collection too. Its not as if its all 3 in their entirety either as the MP is removed and I am sure I could buy all 3 for PS3 inc a GotY edition of 3 with extra content for less. I know it won't look as pretty as a remastered version but you get the full story as well as a MP experience too.
I must admit though that the MP isn't something I am overly bothered about and I don't know if there are any 'extras' or 'bonus' features. As far as I know its just the story content remastered by Bluepoint
@BAMozzy
The Uncharted collection will definitely look and play a lot better than the originals, seeing as its 1080p/60fps.
@banacheck I didn't think the games looked bad on the PS3 or played poorly at 30fps either. It doesn't change the story. For games I already have and know the story well its not going to give me the same sense of awe and mystery that the first time I played them did. I can honestly say that playing the definitive edition of Tomb Raider wasn't better than when I played it on last gen because I knew where things were, what happened next etc.
I would hope that a 'remaster' is better looking and feels a bit smoother but I don't know that its £50 better considering I already have all 3 and can get a whole new experience for less
No video? ...OH, I remember this. Even for 2009, I would not call this one "the best." All you do is climb yellow bars in ND games! Certainly gets beaten by any MGS intro IMO. Heck, I was blown away by GT6's intro. As for interactive intros, I liked Fallout 3 and Skyrim. Some of my all time fav intros are to Dark Forces and Rebel Assault II because they set up the games perfectly WITHOUT ANY GIMMICKS like the character having no inner ear and not realizing which way Gravity is pulling on his body! What is that about?
This is more bad news regarding Star Wars 7... J.J. The Jetplane has the exact wrong aesthetic preferences for this project 😐 The force does not flow through him
The greatest in my opinion is the intro for Onimusha 3. That was amazing
Yes. This is probably my favorite opening scene in at least video game history. Especially later in the game when it first hits you the significance that current scene relates to the opening. (weird choice of words, but I'm avoiding spoilers)
I did feel like the Last of Us' opening was more emotional, though. Just not as crazy as Uncharted 2.
Nooooooo! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! Nooooo! No! Oh crap!
So weird how people like that. I was so bored during that intro. It was so slow, and its not like there was any real tension.
@MikLSP I absolutely agree. Might be because I have a little girl but the last of us really got me. I think its the most touching story in any game or movie I've seen.
@tenderbeefcake same here, that's definitely a factor and helps you immediately relate to Joel and what he must be feeling.
