It’s hard to believe, but it’s been over a year since we got our first look at Gravity Rush 2. Sony curiously opted to include a clip from the forthcoming sequel at its Tokyo Game Show booth, but since then, developer Japan Studio has barely acknowledged the existence of the title. However, speaking as part of a Famitsu feature on 2015, creator Keiichirō Toyama has hinted that we may learn more soon.
According to a translation of his comments courtesy of Gematsu, he’s aware that fans have been waiting a while for new information, but he hopes that “they’ll understand why once [the studio has] something new to say”. This sounds to us like production has switched to the PlayStation 4, which is sure to disappoint Vita owners, but perhaps makes sense for the longevity of the promising property.
Sony mentioned recently that it would not be investing quite as heavily in first-party projects for its flagging portable format, but the system is still selling reasonably well in Japan, so that comment seemed aimed at its Western teams. Making the aforementioned sequel for the manufacturer's next-gen appliance would allow for a bigger, more engaging open world, though. The question is: would you like to see hero Kat on the big screen?

I obviously know why, and I'm going to be disappointed if it turns out to be a PS4 title.
They should do both platforms
Is that the new version of "please understand"?
@Knux
I'm not, the franchise cannot survive on Vita.
I don't care which plataform, I just want Gravity Rush 2!
@Punished_Boss_84 Only because Sony killed their own handheld.
I'd argue the market 'killed' the Vita - not Sony.
I'm actually gonna be happy if they make the sequel PS4 only.
No offense to the Vita, but I prefer being able to play games in HD on my 32 inch 720p LCD HDTV.
(yes I know it's tiny as heck to most people, but cant afford to get a bigger TV)
Hopefully vita considering sales are up and it is or was an exclusive
I'll like to see her on both screens.
@ToddlerNaruto Actually 32 inches is perfect for gaming in my opinion. Gaming on bigger screens feel awkward.
yes yes yes on PS4 would be awesome! and give us the first one while you're at it Sony.
@XFsWorld Hmm really? I remember playing on a friend's 50 inch screen and loving it alot more than my 32 inch.
To each their own though, everyone has their different tastes, that's what makes this world not boring.
As much as I would like to play this game on Vita, I'd be happy with a PS4 version. As long as it still uses motion controls and allows you to tilt the controller for gravity of course
@get2sammyb
Scapegoat. Sony killed it with the brunt of their actions, there's a reason it's first year was its healthiest.
first Gravity Rush game was originally a PS3 game but Sony decided to release it on vita because Vita wasn't selling very well. but now that PS4 isn't doing good in japan it's time for Kat to come home, where she really is belong:)
Put it on ps4 I'd say. You can always "remote play" if it's that serious. I think this game would benefit from a console release! It'll make it a bigger better game at the very least.
If it has to be on PS4, at least keep the Vita version too.
@get2sammyb The market is harsh, but Sony messed up on the Vita due to their lack of love and stupid decisions (overpriced and unique memory cards, lack of a variety of first party games, relying too much on ports, and trying to make the Vita a Wii U GamePad).
Both the Wii U and Vita are in similar situations, but Nintendo's and Sony's responses are very different. Nintendo is trying to support the Wii U as much as possible with exclusive and amazing games, while Sony just throws up their hands and says ''eff this'' while blanketing it under a lot of bad PR.
I love Sony and my Vita while also planning on buying a PS4, but that's not going to stop me from calling Sony out on their BS like their lack of love for an amazing handheld.
@Punished_Boss_84 Sure, but even then it wasn't setting the world alight. There's only so much you can invest in something before you have to cut your losses. Tearaway was one of the best games of last year and bombed; Gravity Rush has a slim shot at being a popular new property for Sony, and it needs to be on PS4 if it has a chance of reaching the wider market.
I don't like it either, but it's where we're at unfortunately.
@Knux That's fair, but no matter how many highly rated titles they toss at Wii U, it's not seeing an upswing. I get that that's doing right by the few people who bought it... But, as I said above, where do you draw the line?
@get2sammyb The same market hasn't killed the 3ds. Why did this market choose to only kill the Vita?
It has been an incredibly poor proposition to consumers since day one and Sony have done nothing to try increase its value. Under all my definitions that is 100% Sonys fault. You can't blame a market for being hostile to a product when its competition in the same market is thriving.
@eLarkos Pokemon.
@get2sammyb so its the markets fault the Vita doesn't have a smash hit? Im not trying to be argumentative for the sake of it. I genuinely dont think you can blame the market for the Vita. I would love to buy a Vita.... If it was any good. But instead I (the market) happily bought its competitor.
P.s i dont own Pokémon ;p
@get2sammyb
Sure, but I don't think Sony's ignorance, low resources, Bad PR and utter lack of care is any better than the direct opposite of the first year. Also, their half hearted effort of trying wasn't even enough, 3yrs and no GT? Haha.
There's only so much you can place blame on the market, which is exactly the same thing I said on NL. They are partly to blame.
@get2sammyb Pokemon didn't drop till 2013 by then 3DS was selling gangbusters so I disagree with that kind of excuse.
Anyway this would upset me a bit but I can (sigh) understand why they would do it, to be honest I'd rather a Gravity Rush 2 then no Gravity Rush 2.
I love my Vita and I loved Gravity Rush on my Vita but Gravity Rush 2 would be a better game if it was on PS4.
@get2sammyb lack of marketing is why it failed for me, I really had no idea it existed until maybe September last year when I looked into getting a PS4
Shame about it possibly not coming to Vita, since the first one was a game that was perfect on handheld and one of my top 3 Vita games (despite that ending...).
But all that aside, I DON'T CARE! This IP is awesome and I just wanna see it on any device! Hopefully they can make it scale and have more gameplay variety on a proper console.
Looking forward to this!
Good put it on PS4. It will now be a more ambitious game with the potential of the most powerful console of all time. Don't like it get a PS4.
I'm going to buy and enjoy the game regardless of platform, but I definitely hope this means it's a PS4 game. Vita is done, time to move on completely.
@Gamer83 I wouldn't be surprised if Sony discontinued the Vita next year which isn't a realistic expectation to happen otherwise...
@Punished_Boss_84 So is there any reason why you are hyping up so many vita games on your channel since you Don't like the way Sony has treated the vita? I do not get that logic...
Outside of your channel on YouTube you say that the Vita is in dire straights and it is Sony's fault for not keeping their promises and yet you hype whatever gets announced on your YouTube account for no reason whatsoever. By those standards, I should not only blame Sony but you also for hope falsifying the vita's reputation... :/
Personally I really hope to see Gravity Rush 2 on both PS4 and Vita but I'm not holding my breath. Seeing as more than likely it will be PS4 exclusive I really hope they remaster the first game for PS4 as well so those who haven't experienced the amazingness that is Gravity Rush can experience it as well! Looking forward to any more news regardless!
I just want to know when I can buy it.
@Enobmah_Shards
Probably has something to do with the fact that it is not my channel.
@Enobmah_Shards
Be fine with me if tomorrow the Vita was discontinued. And that's coming from somebody who's an early adopter and loves the system. But the health of the PlayStation brand as a whole is more important to me and this thing is selling like crap and Sony isn't exactly in the best shape to be supporting a dead device. There was a flood of games in the first year, nobody wanted to buy the device so it is what it is. Partly Sony's fault for asinine pricing but consumers being idiots didn't help either. They b*tch about lack of AAA games, but when there were AAA games they weren't buying either. I'm actually annoyed Sony is still even half-a$$ supporting this machine. Just let it go already, some people will cry but too f'ing bad.
@Vader-Taters
That's one remaster I'd definitely be on board with. Day one purchase if it happens. And it makes a ton of sense too since unlike the Vita people actually seem to like the PS4. Gravity Rush is criminally overlooked and underrated, a release on a popular system could only be a good thing.
@Gamer83 I have to agree with the AAA and the consumers part of it. All that the vita gets are Indies and niche Japanese games that are being localised next year. Resident Evil Revelations 2 will not save the vita next year, Mark my words...
@Punished_Boss_84 Aren't you somehow involved in that channel? o.O
P.S. I hope you aren't lying or trolling me about it...
@get2sammyb monster hunter going to the 3DS didn't help either
@Enobmah_Shards
Was involved.
If it's coming to PS4, it will still be on Vita. But people still upset because it's not Vita exclusive? For me, I'm fine if I can play it on Vita exclusive onot.
Enjoying the first game. If the sequel jumps ship to the PS4, I guess I'll have to just watch videos on Youtube.
