The Legend of Dragoon's Dart Almost Fought in PlayStation All-Stars

Posted by Sammy Barker

Here comes a new challenger

We thought that the roster in mascot mash-up PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale was fine, but it could have used a few more niche names. While we were always personally gunning for the mannequin from Echochrome, it turns out that Dart, the protagonist from PSone classic The Legend of Dragoon, was in production as DLC at one point, before being cancelled.

Early artwork of the character popped up on artist Mike Edwards’ personal portfolio over the weekend, but has since been pulled. Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida recently mentioned that the crossover combat game didn’t sell enough copies to warrant any more content, meaning that this is unlikely to ever see the light of day. Still, it doesn’t mean that we can’t speculate about the character’s rival. Who would you have liked to step into the ring with Dart? Let us know in the comments section below.

More characters for the game would be great some are getting old really quick.

Unfortunately PAS was not as fun as I thought it would be. Just couldn't bring myself to by it after playing with friends. I would have been pretty pumped for dart though, legend of dragoon is still one of my all time favorite rpg's.

The roster definitely needed a few more niche characters, just to add a bit of spice to it. Shame Dart wasn't in the original release.

Looks like Jak, guessing he would have played like Jak, not a lot of variety added. Though I suppose his special move would have been nice. They did a good job of copying those in Rainbow Moon.

Full disclosure - it was a great game but I don't remember this guy, I remember the girl in black, and a knight w/ a lance.
