Anyone got the new update? Loving my new IR emitter, in addition to turning my TV on and off with the Xbox it's great for the new ability to use voice commands from my headset (you don't need to grant Cortana access to your profile to use her). The games UI is much more dense and offers additional sorting options along with an Updates section which I find to be particularly helpful as I have my Xbox One in Energy-saving mode. So many more things added too. What do you think?

@Vincent294 I have the update but I haven't really played about with it. The 'My Games' section looks a lot better though.

Spelunky is a cool addition (although it never had me hooked) and Beyond Good & Evil is wonderful. I don't know how well the game holds up today, but I've had loads of fun with it way back when.
The One-games aren't really my taste.

Finally finished Jade Empire on the Original Xbox and it's definitely in my top 5 favorite Xbox games. I loved the atmosphere, the music l and the story was great. It's a shame EA won't let Bioware make another one.

What a coincidence that there's actually someone on this forum who played this so recently. I actually just dug out my original Xbox (never played anything on it, just used it as a movie machine when I was younger) and I saw that I had one game for it, which is Spider-Man 2. I am currently playing through it and it's an amazing Spider-Man game. Because of that game, I decided then to look for some other games that I don't own that are on the original Xbox and I found Jade Empire for a fairly cheap price at an online retailer, so I just ordered it having heard great things about it. I love the Mass Effect games that I've played, so I'm really excited to play this one. And judging by your enthusiasm about it, I believe I picked a good choice for a game to play on the Xbox.

Other games that I'm interested in buying for the system are Burnout 3, Project Gotham Racing 2 and Mercenaries, basically games that are cheap at my online retailer (already bought so many games these past months!) but also considered to be great games. Games like Halo: CE and Fable I already have as Anniversary Editions on the 360, and games like MGS 2: Substance and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory are remastered on the PS3 already in the HD Collections (I believe?). Would love to hear recommendations though.

@KratosMD: Spiderman 2 is an awesome game all around, I can even count how many hours I logged on that game on the Gamecube. It's definitely one of the best Superhero games ever.

Back to the Xbox Project Gotham is a great series it's one of those that I wish they would make a new entry in the series but with Bizarre gone I don't see that happening.

Some of my favorites games on the OG Box are

Crimson Skies — Great if you like games like Star Fox.
Soul Caliber II — Yes it's multiplatform but if you don't have it it's a good choice.
Dungeon and Dragons Heroes — Great if you like dungeon crawlers like Diablo
Knight of the Old Republic — Both one and two are must haves.

If I think of some more I will post them.

@KratosMD Try and get hold of Black, that is an excellent game. Great gameplay and superb graphics (for the time) although it will pose a bit of a challenge and the checkpoint system is a little unforgiving.

@Tasuki: Not a fan of the 2nd and 3rd game's franchises, but I'm definitely interested in a Star Fox-like game on the Xbox. Also, wasn't the first Knights of the Old Republic made by BioWare? In that case, I'm all in.

@Vincent294: I have the (Dreamcast?) game on PSN, but I'm guessing the Xbox game is a better version of that one?

@crippyd: Will keep my eyes out for that game. Love me the occasional single-player FPS game, so I'm down for that.

@KratosMD: Yes KotOR was indeed made by Bioware. In fact it uses the same engine as Jade Empire so if you like Jade Empire's gameplay then you will enjoy KotOR.

@Vincent294: Oh, ok. Then all the more reason to get it, as I don't even own it apparently.

SEGA's franchises don't seem to get a lot of new releases nowadays, so I'd be happy to try out the old ones while I still can.

@Tasuki: Well that's good. Really looking forward to playing Jade Empire and if that turns out to be a good experience for me, then I'll certainly give KotOR a go.

@KratosMD: Knights of the old republic is the best Bioware game and best original xbox game. @Tasuki has that recommend on the head.

Also as @Vincent294: Mentions Jet set radio future is also a must own.

A game no ones mentioned is Ninja Gaiden - NG2 and NG3 are terrible in comparison, NG1 does so much right, and proved to difficult to follow. I still have a copy here at home. But be warned, it is very very hard.

The racers (pgr2) and fps games (halo) have all been surpassed in the last 3 generations and its hard to go back as they look alot worse than you remember.

My used copy of Front Mission Evolved (360) arrived in the mail today (haven't yet had the chance to open it).

I haven't played a mech game like this before (where you can customise your own), and I chose this one because while it's apparently rough around the edges, it has more of a single player mode than similar games on the system, and can be pretty fun if you just want some mecha action.

Switch - NSMBU Deluxe
PS4 - Moss

I actually don't mind the graphics that much. I played for example some of the later Forza games first, then went back to Forza 2, then 3 and had a great time with both those games. I haven't even played any PGR games (although I own the third one), so the best thing would be to play the old ones first just in case.

I actually ordered some more Xbox games just now. On top of Jade Empire from before, I also bought Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction (basically looks like Just Cause in terms of crazy gameplay before that game came out), Project Gotham Racing 2 (there were other racing games that I wanted to buy but I wanted to play this one first, reason being what I mentioned above) and finally Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance. I finished the first MGS game about a half year ago, so I think this would be a good time to start out on the second game. I know I said I would play the HD version of this game but it just feels better to play it on an original console.

Other games that I have plans on getting are Burnout 3, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath and Halo: CE (same reason as above for why I want to buy Halo again). My online retailer doesn't really have a lot of those Xbox games you guys have recommended in stock, so I can't buy them yet. Hopefully they get more games in stock soon, would really like to increase my Xbox collection some more.

Played some Jade Empire and Project Gotham Racing 2 today, both very fun games. Jade Empire really felt like a "precursor" to Mass Effect, with features like a karma-system and assigning points to different attributes when leveling up, but it also felt very unique. Really loving the Asian setting and all the different characters. The combat feels great too when you get used to it. As for PGR2, the only real comparison I can make is that it felt a lot like DriveClub. You drive short races, getting points, unlocking stuff with said points etc. It's a really fun game and a breath of fresh air from the racing simulator Forza. I really love the controls and the drifting feels spot-on. The level of progression gets addicting, as I just want to level up more and more to get better cars and perform better in races.

I can feel like I'm going to play these two games a lot for the next coming week or two.

@KratosMD: Yep Driveclub reminded me alot of the PGR series. PGR has.always been one of my favorite series starting back on the Dreamcast with Metropolis Street Racer. As for Jade Empire feeling like Mass Effect that's cause they used the same engine pretty much. KotOR, Jade Empire and Mass Effect all have the same game play.

@Tasuki: I just finished chapter 1 and so far the game has been great. Interesting characters, fun side quests etc. I've also been getting more and more used to the combat. It feels really natural and fun. The one problem I seem to encounter is when I get stuck in a combo by an enemy. I literally can't do anything, not even dodge out of the way and before I even think to chi heal I die. The fights aren't hard, it just feels like the game is punishing you severely if you ever get caught up in one of the enemy's combos. For example, at the end of chapter 1 when I fought the "mini boss", I got caught up in his combo and died immediately without being able to get out of the way. On my second time, I tried to avoid him as much as possible and didn't even lose a bit of my health. I guess the game is just trying to teach me to play more carefully and use different attacks to defeat my opponents.
