Forgive the lateness of this thread I completely forgot about the FIFA World Cup going on due to all the excitement of E3.

Anyway I have a few of the games recorded right now so I wont be able to watch them till tonight.

Bout time someone did this (haven't permission to make topics). Cracking opening game: end-to-end, exciting, action-packed, mistakes, goalkeeping howlers, terrible referee decisions, massively dodgy penalty, blatant home referee, Brazil winning (good for the tournament, no favouritism from me)... Just what you wanna see. Can't wait for Spain v Netherlands tomorrow. Damn tasty. Then looking forward to wiping the floor with the English again on Saturday. Viva Italia!

Spain VS Netherlands?  Wasn't that the Championship game last World Cup?

I'd have thought given this is a UK based website that somebody would have this thread up a while ago. Was out so I missed the Brazil game but did want to see it. Will hopefully be able to catch a replay or something.

I'm a scum fan and I can say Howard Webb is very ovverated. Tonights match was a joke. It wasn't a penalty and the croatia goal was fine. Sour on the first game. Never mind.

Dodgy decisions, complaints about the pitch, riots on the street and we're only 15 hours in! Love it.

I think Croatia deserved a draw last night. Brazil got off a bit lucky - especially since Fred went down so easily for that supposed penalty. There were a few wrong decisions during that match.

Still, I called 3-1! Sammy can be my witness.

As for tonight's games...

Mexico 2 - 1 Cameroon

Spain 3 - 1 Netherlands - what a game this should be.

Chile 1 - 1 Australia

1-0 to the Netherlands for me. Spain seem to have lost their way recently. Plus their strikers are just nothing to be feared about. Fernando Torres? Put him in Liverpool red and he will slaughter any goalkeeper. But since he left us he's become genuinely abysmal. I have a strong feeling Spain are going to be found out his tournament (hope I'm wrong, I do like them, just not Judas).

Poor refereeing last night. Ruined it for me... and to my surprise, Brazil was not much of a threat. The Croatian golakeeper should of saved that Oscar shot though.

Spain vs Holland is the big one tonight. I think 3 - 2 to Spain. Enjoy the game folks.

I thought the officials chosen for this World Cup were supposed to be the best/most consistent in the world? Is this why English referees were so poor last season, to prepare us for the low officiating standard? "Schockeng," as Alan Hansen will undoubtedly say.

Told you fellas. Okay, got the score wrong but I told you Spain would be found out this year. It was like the Liverpool 5 Arsenal 1 game. Spain, like Arsenal that magical afternoon, had no shape, pattern or discipline. Their heads went and the Dutch - like us - looked like they would score at every single opportunity.

I'll say it now, they won't beat Chile and they're going home in round one.

Fantastic as it was I say Robben's second was better. The skill before patience combined with exquisite awareness of everything going on around him and then a thumping finish. His time at Bayern Munich has made him a complete player.

I hope Van Gaal can continue this run of form into his tenure at United.

Anyway, England tonight! Score predictions? I reckon 1-1.

Yeah I have a feeling it's going to be 1-1, but obviously if England won that would be great too.

Thankfully Van Gall will do nothing at United. Look at his track record and in the last seventeen years he gets his teams in good positions then messes it up. "I would love it" as Keegan would say.

Tonight I'm afraid you English swines are going to win - as long as Sterling plays. We (Italy) always start slow in competitions and we can't do that in this group, especially with Gigi now out. I can see us going home in the first round sadly. Saying that if Hodgson is stupid enough to play Welbeck (and he is) then I think we'll draw or win. The guy is useless. Makes Torres seem world class.
