Topic: Yakuza Kiwami or 0 first?

Apologies if this has already been discussed.
I recently got both games and wondering where I should start, I've been told by some Kiwami but then by others 0 which just confuses things more.
I've even been told to play 1-5 before even starting 0 which is impossible since I haven't got a PS3 atm.

Zero. I hadnt played any and Im now a fan for life.

@The__Goomba I also started with 0. Perfect entry place. It also made me care a lot more about the characters in Kiwami (1).

I cant remember which one it was, may have been Kiwami being the remake, but one is a lot more complex than the other as a starting point in terms of gameplay.

So 0 first seems to be the popular choice, thanks for the help.
Hopefully we get ports of 3-5 too so I can experience the full series.

@The__Goomba I had to make this decision myself too and chose for Yakuza 0 first. Sure, Kiwami will probably feel like a step backwards, technically, but if I really dig 0 that won't stop me.

Also, I heard the devs intended Kiwami to be played after Zero, featuring references and such to the game.

I can't tell you if this is the "Best choice" for me, as I haven't played the game yet, but that's just what I decided!

@YummyHappyPills Kiwami is a remake of the first Yakuza, Zero is the prequal.

@The__Goomba @Kidfried I have played both through to completition at about 65% trophies. They are both great and practically the same. Zero has the added bonus of bigger side games and a whole story for Majima. Kiwami is set in one city so you get to know it really well without using the map and the story flows better. Other than that they are the same. Both amazing, both must plays and both a good way to spend your time. I didnt enjoy Kiwami initially, and then boom it ramps up from the mid point with all kinds of cool interchanges which are probably better than zero.

Just picked up an old PS3. Happened to be the Japanese Yakuza collectors edition so it came with Yakuza 5. 4 was free on PS Plus not too long ago so just started playing 4. Can't believe i've been missing out on this franchise for so long! Eager to get around to the PS4 version of 0. That one looks amazing.

Sounds like we might get ports of 3 to 5 which is cool. If not, pick up a pre-owned PS3 for cheap and enjoy them
