Kidfried commented on Review: Gravity Rush 2 (PS4):

@get2sammyb I enjoyed the story quite a bit in the first game, but the game ended with a cliffhanger and quite a lot of loose ends. Is the story answering some of the questions the last game left me with and did the story satisfy you? Basically I had hoped quite a bit that there would have been a paragraph on story in your review, but I understand that I'm probably in the minority of people who played the game for its story.

I'm still wondering why Sony dropped it. Sure, it doesn't look like GOTY material, but from a technical and gameplay perspective it at least looks decent. The graphics are quite gorgeous too. Don't forget Sony has already published Knack, The Order 1866, The Tomorrow Children and No Man's Sky this generation too. Something else must have gone wrong behind the scenes, right? Guess we'll never know.

Kidfried commented on Review: The Last Guardian (PS4):

People feel that due to the fact that they have a controller they should also be in control. I love it when games challenge these types of basic principles of game design. I understand some might get frustrated about it, but that doesn't make it bad game design. There is a lot of music that isn't nessecarily pleasing to my ear, but still I considered to be of high value. Games still have a long way to go with regards to being 'art'. Best example I saw this year was The Witness, but I'd love to give this game (and Inside too) a go.

I'm really sorry. I always try to be understanding of people with a different opinion, but I can only laugh at people defending Konami here. What do you base your opinions on, your gut feel that this person is a diva?

Is it even worth noting how often developers (from lead designer to programmers) are treated terribly by their publishers or do you rather choose to ignore? Just read the Nikkei report of Konami, just read also about Iga on the statement: "He’s heard what’s happening, but mostly it’s been through the news and not people directly at Konami, because that company has a way of bullying their employees not to give out too much information – to say the least,"

I can very well understand this is only one side of the story. Of course Kojima isn't the easiest to work with, but that doesn't in any way justify how Konami has treated him.

Kidfried commented on The Reaction to December's PlayStation Plus Ga...:

@johncalmc The comparison with music is not completely fair. In contrast to music there is often a huge price difference between triple-A and indie games. People complain about indie's, but it is of course the low production values that they have a problem with.
I'm a fan of a lot of indie games, but there is a decent point to be made for expecting more bang for your buck. No one complained about Rocket League and Journey, when they came on. It's games like Pumped BMX+, games that don't hold a broad appeal nor have high production value, that people complain about.

I have hardly played a great Plus game this year, so I understand the complaints. If I could choose to only pay for online and the discounts I would.

Kidfried commented on Talking Point: Why Are Fall's Biggest Blockbus...:

At the start of the generation we all screamed "this is for the players" and the 'hardcore gamer' became the top priority. These hardcore gamers all bought the new consoles resulting in great sales. But these hardcore gamers are very hard to please, and many of them also game on PC. Often they look up let's plays on Twitch instead of buying games, or decide not to buy certain gamers because of what they've read on the internet.
The approach worked well in the console's first years, but is a dead end in the long run.

@rjejr Games get delayed. We don't know what happened behind the scenes, but at least it still got finished. Not going to blame a developer or a publisher for something I don't know about. So, fast-forward to the present.
As I said the Final Fantasy is unfortunate, but I believe Sony did nothing wrong in picking the game's release date.
1) The Last Guardian went gold less than a month ago, an earlier must have been impossible. Also, they probably already had the marketing ready.
2) Late January is just a big middle finger to the fans that have waited this long. They announced the 2016 date at last year's E3, they really had to keep that promise.
3) They delayed Gravity Rush 2 to let this game have some breathing space. That is a huge effort already. They delayed this game a week to not have it collide with Final Fantasy. It's still rather unfortunate, but more they could not do.
4) Besides, for games that are really good (like they probably epect TLG to be), the release date is less important anyway, because it will generate sales in the long run. Take for instance Tomb Raider, that game was a huge failure at launch, but managed to keep selling and make a nice profit years later.

Kidfried commented on Review: Watch Dogs 2 (PS4):

So, this probably means I'm going to give the franchise another chance. Watch Dogs wasn't a very enjoyable game, but that didn't stop Ubisoft from making great sequels before (Assassin's Creed, Far Cry).

Kidfried commented on Review: Super Dungeon Bros (PS4):

@get2sammyb I'd call it a lack of art style. Its style is rather incoherent. (Could of course still be a great game, but combined with the low review score I can't really become excited for this game.)

Kidfried commented on Red Dead Redemption 2 Teaser Image Shows Seven...:

@ShogunRok @Napples I don't understand why so many people feel the need to point that out. I'm going to guess 95% of those people don't even know what they're talking about for never having played Revolver.

The thing is, Rockstar never stated the games to be in the same universe or being part of the same series. I don't even think they have patented "Red Dead" seperately. Sergio Leone made both the movies "Once Upon a Time in the West" and "Once Upon a Time in America", but they aren't connected at all; only a bit spiritually.

From all the rumours that are floating around it even seems to be quite plausible to call this new game Red Dead Redemption 2, as it may be a prequel to RDR1. We've also seen Battlefield Modern Combat 2 and I didn't hear anyone back then say "Well technically this isn't the 2nd game in the series."

Kidfried commented on Review: DriveClub VR (PS4):

@get2sammyb Well, 5's or 7's, it's all the same. To everyone who didn't invest in VR now it will mean the same thing: the system doesn't have must-have games, and there is no need to buy it for Christmas.

Kidfried commented on Rumour: Is This Your First Look at Egyptian As...:

So, this is definitely a fake or an on-purpose leak. I'm inclined to say the former. First, this is a laptop screeshot, not very likely for a game designer. Second, I don't believe for a second that a studio first invests time in making the tooltips before having finished the game basically. Third, the logo is the exact copy of a fake that has been circulating for quite some time. Fourth, why would anyone leak with his own name (or that of someone else) on the screenshot. Fifth, this screenshot doesn't show anything we haven't already heard... so why bother anyway?

Nothing to see here people, move along.

Kidfried commented on Hands On: Could Horizon: Zero Dawn Be Sony's N...:

@Feena I feel exactly the opposite. I have not seen a game look as bland as the new Zelda in a long time and am very disappointed in its lack of own personality. Horizon on the other hand has a lot of fresh elements at least: main character, enemies, it's palette.

@rjejr Fans of the first game will understand this trailer and why it's really good looking. No need to downplay it. This game is pretty unique. It's gameplay focused gravity shifting game.
But yes, they clearly have no idea how to market it.

Kidfried commented on PlayStation Move Is About to Make a Big Comeback:

The Move is a pretty good controller from a technical standpoint, but from a gameplay standpoint it didn't offer a whole lot. But I have to add that I was disappointed with my Wii too.
I am not going to refute that the controller might actually redeem itself through its use in VR, though. Wait and see!

Kidfried commented on Play Overwatch For Free on PS4 Next Week:

@sub12 That's not completely fair of course. I bet you Blizzard is paying Sony big bucks for this marketing push.
And besides that... 1) PSN offers more, like, way more. Not only free games, but also better communities, et cetera. You can't compare those two services in regards to what they're offering. 2) You pay for online in Nintendo games through buying your game. Nintendo games are a lot cheaper to make, but sell for the same price as most PS4 games and hardly ever lower in price.

You're going to pay these publishers their money one way or the other. In no way is anyone offering you the "sweeter deal".

Kidfried commented on Talking Point: What September PlayStation Plus...:

I'd love if they did something like The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Shovel Knight, N++ or something. It's time for a real quality title this month.

@TreesenHauser It's great news you're getting a PS4. It's a really solid console with marvelous games. PS Plus is great for enough reasons, aside from the free games there is the 10GB cloud storage and great discounts. You'll get your money's worth.
What games are you planning on buying?

@Deadcow I'd be fine with that, but there's enough people who only subscribe for the free games.
