To be honest, I prefer Xbox achievements over PlayStation trophies. For trophies, I don't really feel like any other matter other than platinums if you want to have bragging rights. Trophy levels aren't that interesting either. But a more interesting concept for me is getting points for achievements that you accumulate over time into one overall score, and that's more appealing to me. Even though I get 5 G or 10 G achievements, that still adds on to an overall score that I can show off with because points are points. But different kinds of trophies ruin that feeling for me. I don't really care about getting bronze trophies, and because those are worth less than silver, gold and platinum trophies, I feel like those aren't even worth getting anymore unless you're going for a platinum obviously. But like I said with the gamerscore, no matter how many points you get those are still counted towards an overall score and I like that more.

Some games are even weird on how they make the trophy lists versus the achievement lists. For example, in Mega Man Legacy Collection on PS4, you get a bronze trophy for completing each game. On the other hand, on Xbox One you get 50 G for completing each game. The latter one feels more appealing to me to be honest. Also, Sony hasn't even made platinum trophies a mandatory thing for all games on PS4, while Microsoft has made it mandatory that all Xbox One games have a 1000 G list, which is why I've grown to like achievements more than trophies. I mean, what's more appealing, getting 1000 points for receiving all achievements or getting 12 bronze trophies. It's just not the same thing, for me at least.

@themcnoisy: pffft catch up, yeah right. I have never been that big on achievment/trophies. The only reason I had alot on the Xbox 360 is because during that time I was a stay at home dad (long story won't get into it now) so I played alot especially with my son. Even back then I didn't go out of my way to get achievements. Once the main story of a game is done that's usually it for me.

I must admit, I prefer Xbox Achievements to Playstation Trophies but I don't go out of my way to get EVERY possible achievement. I do actively avoid some achievements though. My OCD kicks in if I get an achievement that isn't a multiple of 5 - I hate having a GS that doesn't end in 5 or 0. I forced myself to play Fifa 09 because I scored a goal in the 89th minute (19GS) and the only way to get the 1pt was to play 50hrs! I haven't played and can't face a football game after that. I guess that's something that Trophies have over Achievements LOL

Apart from 1-2 freebies (Dorito's games I think), I can't think of any fully completed game. I go for Achievements/Trophies purely if they fit in with what I want to do, what I enjoy playing etc. I would never bother wasting my time on 'speed runs' (like Uncharted has) because I want to enjoy my time in these - I am sure I would get very pi55ed off if I missed out by a few seconds and wasted 5-6hrs rushing through... Getting 50 headshots, or 20 Stealth Kills etc - things that can happen through general play, I will try and do but not beat the campaign, then beat again on super insane, brutal nightmare mode that only unlocks on completion the first time.... I don't want to replay a story again straight away - I don't mind returning to a chapter to pick up an odd 'challenge' trophy I may of missed but not a whole campaign again.

I consider a campaign finished when I reach the end - generally. Games like Tomb Raider (Reboot) and Arkham Knight I completed to 100% (that's all collectibles, all side missions, all Riddler trophies etc) yet have around 70-80% Trophies. Those games are 'finished' as far as I am concerned - I have seen everything the story/game has to offer!

A pessimist is just an optimist with experience!

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...

This happened to me twice on an uncharted 1 level, after that I couldn't muster the courage and stupidity to try the others. I ended up with one speed run from U3 completely flukey at the airfield when you push the car to the window and run through the rest. At the time I needed to switch the ps4 off and go to bed so gave myself one last life. Boom did it. Didn't even realise it was a trophy.

@KratosMD: Yes I agree, but also that comes down to the amount of GS I gave up on when I switched to PS4 Bronze trophies are crap I totally agree with that.

@themcnoisy: I didn't think they were very hard though, got max stars on all of them as well lol. The ones that I found a pain were the drift ones. Its all about the timing between braking whilst carrying enough speed to take the corner without touching anything and getting on the accelerator without kicking the back out.

Picked up the Rocket League Platinum one the other day there. After unlocking 150 items. Great game

As for trophies in general, it's rare I can play a game for the sake of playing it these days. If I don't get a trophy within the first few hours, I tend to shy away from it.

I miss my gamerscore but will never regret coming back home to PS.

@daveofduncan: Rocket League is amazing, I had to delete the game to play some others. Its no surprise I had withdrawal symptoms and didn't want to play anything else for a couple of days after deleting it. As a dad its my go to game as its so quick, baby asleep - boom quick 5 minute game, wifes gone shops - boom a few quick games etc etc. Great platinum too as its pretty hard with the aerial shot unless you clock flying quickly and the 500km trophy takes longer than you think.

@themcnoisy: The funny thing about the aerial shot goal trophy is that I got it when I hit the ball in the air, it flew across the entire map and was about to land in front of the goal when the dumb bot just jumped up and bumped it in to the goal and I still got the trophy, lol.

I actually started to really crunch down Rocket League during my free time earlier in the Spring and I became really good at it, until I got the Veteran rank status, then everything just went crumbling down. I started to face off against really good players and I wasn't even that good yet, which put me in a constant losing streak. My randomly selected team mate for every match would almost always shame me and tell me how bad I was at the game and because of this, I stopped playing the game. Also because I started to get frequent headaches from continuous hours of playtime and it affected my studies.

I do play it from time to time for fun when my nephews come over, but other than that, I don't really like playing it anymore. It's a phenomenal game though, but it's not something for me anymore.

@themcnoisy: I must've actually flooked the aerial goal trophy if it's in the main trophies. I noticed it on the dlc trophies though for the Utopia dlc?!

Agreed though. It's random and chaotic most of the time but it's a blast.

I finally have the Fallout 4 platinum! It's a great trophy list (if you ignore the broken settlement system), that really encourages you to delve deep into the game. I found exploring, scavenging for magazines and bobbleheads the most fun to be had as the quests were kind of a let down most of the time.

Bread-Not-Toast

I'm Level 15 with 68% percent completion and 2,238 trophies, not bad considering I've only been playing since early 2014.

@PlaytendoGuy: Almost the same level as me. I only have 1900 trophies though so wonder what happened there?

Did anyone used to enjoy Call of duty 4 / mw2 trophy lists? I did it encouraged veteran play over a few levels at a time, as a trophy would pop every 3 or so levels for completing them on the veteran difficulty. On the other hand Completing the whole of advanced warfare again on veteran for only 1 trophy seems a slim reward compared to the older games and I'm struggling to motivate myself to do it - anyone else have this issue?

@themcnoisy: Personally, that's my main gripe with the trophies/achievements for those kinds of games. According to PlaystationTrophies, you basically get two silver, one gold and a bunch of bronze trophies for completing the story and on Veteran as well (not counting miscellaneous trophies) for Advanced Warfare, while according to XboxAchievements you get 625 G for doing that same thing. Just like I've mentioned before, the latter sounds much more enticing for me than the former.

Other than that, I do agree that the trophies/achievements for the Call of Duty games tend to focus less and less on having anything to do with finishing something on Veteran as each iteration came out. For example, Call of Duty 2 on the 360 has 11/13 achievements tied to completing missions on Veteran and if you finish the game on Veteran you basically get a full 1000 G. This trend continued somewhat until Black Ops 2 I think. That's basically why I even bought some Call of Duty games a couple of months ago on the 360 just to get a lot of achievements with simple objectives. Although Call of Duty 1-5 Veteran campaign are considered to be really hard, I feel like I could probably get passed some of them if I play long enough. But never the first game though. Bad checkpoints allocation and no health packs on Veteran? No thank you. Call of Duty 2 and 4 are basically the ones that I would be interested in playing on Veteran out of those five.

@KratosMD: All the MW series of games are doable on veteran (bar one cod 4 level but I will come onto that in a sec). Each veteran level can take an hour and a half if you play them like I do - slow, methodical and tactically. Which is fine when you snaffle achievements / trophies every couple of levels. Cod 4 has infinite enemy spawns on a couple of levels mw2 onwards have finite enemies so as long as you clear each area one enemy at a time you will finish the game. There's one level in cod 4 late on set around a building with multiple dogs and 3 infinite enemy spawn points, snipers and you have to wait for 2 or 3 minutes while its going crackers around you. I've come so close 5 or 6 times and its the only level ive truly given up on. I must have died 1000 times. mw2 is hard but rewarding, mw3 is really easy bar a couple of sticking points again towards the end. Advanced warfare is similar in difficulty to mw2 but without the trickle of trophies to motivate you to finish it on veteran. There's too many games worthy of the 10 hours I need to put in for that solitary gold trophy.

@themcnoisy: Trophies are weighted differently in terms of levelling up, as far as I'm aware. So somebody who platinums every game they play could be a higher level than somebody that has way more trophies, but with most of them being bronze.

I think I'm a level 22 with something like 6,000 trophies but I know people who are a higher level with less trophies because they complete games more thoroughly.

At least I think that's how it works.

Have to agree that I dislike trophies that ask for another full playthrough on another difficulty setting but only offer 1 measly trophy for it.

Wolfenstein: The New Order was quite good as there were two narrative threads you could follow which affected cut scenes, so you could get the hardest difficulty level and other trophies and see something new.

Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot

The trophy system is totally and utterly broken now...yesterday the trophy system was completely down and today it's back up, however you can't initialize trophy data for any of your new games that you have purchased/played for the first time after the trophy server outage...WTF is going on?!
