So I have a 5 year old nephew who absolutely loves to play games with me. I have a Wii U but he doesn't really enjoy playing it all that much strangely and would rather play my PS4 because he likes the controller better he says. My problem is that my PS4 is currently loaded with games that he either isn't old enough to play or games that are just too hard for him. Anyone have any suggestions for "kid friendly" games? He's currently running around in Infamous First Light blowing up cars and punching stuff.
The playstation is more aimed at the adult gamer crowd. A wii u is a better bet. That said lego marvel super heroes, Minecraft and they can also play cool maths games on the interwebs.

Maybe get him a pro controller? I can understand the GamePad is a bit too heavy/bulky for a 5yr old. But you can't even compare PS4 with Wii U when you are looking for a kid-friendly gaming machine. (seriously...there are so many flawless games on Wii U full of fun, discovery and wonder its almost frightening)

I realize that and I'm looking into getting him more into the Wii U since we can enjoy playing MK and Splatoon (when it comes out) together. I never considered getting a Pro Controller because of how expensive they are but that's a really good idea. I was thinking maybe I could find some cheaper games for PS4 like some of those that @Tasuki mentioned, but the Pro Controller idea seems like the better option to me. Thanks for the input guys!

Look at third party controllers like Rock Candy, they can be just as good as Nintendo's own but a lower price.

When you wrote MK I thought you meant mortal kombat for a second.

I wouldn't let a 5 year old play inFamous, but Second Son would probably be good for him if he plays First Light. (I'd double-check with his parents too.)
I would recommend:
Minecraft (I own it on PC, but the PS4 version should still be good)
Resogun - If it's not too hard.
Minecraft is always a winner - every kid I know plays it religiously. Good for capturing their imaginations. LEGO Marvel Superheroes, too. Great introduction to open world games and more complex mechanics found in other titles, and it's good, colourful fun.
Yeah, First Light probably wasn't the best game for him to be playing but it's the best I had to keep his attention at the time. I feel pretty silly not thinking of Minecraft though...forgot it was even on the PS4 to be honest! I think that's something that really would keep his attention as he has one wild imagination.
Knack, the Lego Games, Disney Infinity, Skylanders, Rabbids Invasion, Pure Pool, Pure Chess, Rayman Legends, Monopoly Family Party Pack, Little Big Planet 3, Just Dance, Putty Squad...at least those are the games that I own that my young girls like to play and watch. Other than that, I'm just like you waiting for some party games and clean-kid-friendly titles to come out. Tearaway Unfolded comes out soon and the Ratchet and Clank, and Hot Shots Golf some time later on...I don't know when any Dreamworks Animated Films, Disney Animated Films or any Spongebob games will come out for it though.
Got Lego Marvel and playing it with kids is an exercise in frustration. Good game though. We 100% it on xbox and me and the 6 year old are looking to do it again. The animation on the Bruce banner to hulk and vice versa is class.
