Re: PS Plus Gets a Decent Black Friday Discount, But There's a Catch for Existing Members

zenarcher

Kind of lame for Sony to pull the same thing again with PS Plus Black Friday deals. I can understand that they might not want people to buy 10 years of stacked Plus for 33% off, but they could easily limit that to one year.

I miss the days of $22/year of Plus deals. The last time it was $22 I purchased 15 years worth. People thought I was crazy. I ended up gifting out a few years to my friends, and my brother. The next deal I bought was 3x years of Plus 12 month subs for $33 each from CDKeys in 2020. My mom passed away that year, along with all of the Covid craziness that happened, I forgot to redeem them, and instead the auto-renew took over. I realized this in 2022, and when I went to redeem them they were EXPIRED! 😔 I didn't even think they did this for Plus y after two years. What's worse is that's when the prices jumped again to $79 (from $59). So it would cost me over $250 to buy those 3 years again , in addition to wasting $100 on expired codes. I reached out to Sony multiple times and they verified that my codes were valid, yet they wouldn't allow me to use them, or some other type of workaround. Their advice "wait for another BF sale" which of course existing members can't take advantage of!😡 I had been a Plus member from day one, never missing a renewal, and owned multiple versions of every Sony system since 1995, along with hundreds upon hundreds of digital and physical games, and my Sony loyalty gained me no help. Anyway, let my story be a warning.. CODES HAVE SHORT EXPIRATION DATES. Don't sit on them like I did.

Re: Rumour: New PS5 DualSense Controller Will Feature a Removable Battery

zenarcher

Man, what are you guys doing to your DualSense/DualShocks when getting stick drift on "all of your sticks" and "in the first few months"?! I've been playing games, heavily, since the Atari VCS in the 70s, and I play PS5 games on a nightly basis, as well as Switch and others very often, and I've NEVER ONCE, experienced stick drift. Not on a single one of them! The only thing I don't do is play online shooters, such as COD or Fortnite. Maybe you guys are ripping the stick off when getting shot? In fact the only analog sticks I've ever had issues with were my Atari 5200 pad (like most over people), and my Vectrex analog joystick, which apparently needs some components replaced.

The other complaint I see is battery issues. I have dozens of DS3-DS5 wireless controllers and the only ones that have shown noticiable battery power decline are the PS3 controllers, and just within the last couple of years. I get about 5-7 hours from my DualSense controllers, and this is how you you extend the time from 3-4 hours to 5-7 hours. 1. Turn LED light to DIM. 2. Turn Adaptive Triggers to Weak. 3. Set haptics to Weak. 4. Most importantly, set it to turn off the built-in MIC on boot up. That alone will save a lot of battery power. Also, keep it on a smart charger that won't over charge, or charge when it doesn't need charging. That will allow it to work great for many years.

@Northern_munkey I responded to your post before you edited it. So chill out.

No surprise there. Most games these days require at least some form of download to start..usually a first day patch etc,etc,etc...bring back cartridges...oh wait even that's not fool proof anymore 🤔 "

Also, learn to properly edit. You can remove your bad info, instead of adding an apology at the end of it.

Re: PS5 Fans Furious As Microsoft Ships DOOM: The Dark Ages with Just 85MB on the Disc

@Northern_munkey Stop spreading lies. Check https://www.doesitplay.org/ for the truth. Most games do not require any downloads, or even the need to have an internet connection. Sure, some patches might fix a bug, or add a feature, but it'll generally play without it. I don't buy or play PvP hero shooters, or most online games for that matter. So about 100% of my physical games do not require an internet connection to play.

Re: Astro Bot PS5 DualSense Controller Pre-Orders Are Now Live

zenarcher

@Americansamurai1 Yeah, I bought it there about 30 seconds after the GS order went through and I saw the BS they pulled.. I quickly refunded the GameStop order, but they kept my $20 for their Pro membershit. Now I have to fight them on that. Maybe if they treated their customers with a fraction of respect they might have more people buy from them.. probably not, but they could try.

The sad thing is that I worked for that company (Babbage's turned into GameStop in the early 00s) for nearly a decade. I managed three stores in upstate NY. I even helped their corporate office with designing advertising art for several system launches (Saturn, PS, N64, DC, to name a few). They used to be a decent company to work for, and to shop at, but they became ultra greedy after going from Neo*Star ownership, to Barnes & Nobles, It's as if they knew Amazon was going to kill their book stores, so they doubled down on video game greed. Oh well, they won't likely be around much longer anyhow. That stock nonsense won't likely repeat itself next time they are in need.

Re: Astro Bot PS5 DualSense Controller Pre-Orders Are Now Live

zenarcher

Be careful with GameStop! They added in "GameStop Pro" for an extra $20! WTF...
Order Total
$107.99

This should be illegal. Sure I was speeding through and didn't read the entire page, but it was selling out everywhere else. THey knew this and decided to be slimy, If they push back on a refund I'm going to get my credit card to go after them.

Re: PS4 to PS5: All Games with Confirmed Free Upgrades

zenarcher

Looks like you've missed GRIS. It has a free PS5 update, as " GRIS | PS4 & PS5 "
and also Jydge. It also has a free upgrade to PS5.

Thanks for the list though. It's a big help. It's a shame Sony doesn't do more to keep people aware of these free updates since they don't always show up in the PS5 library. -Matt

Re: Mini Review: The Persistence Enhanced (PS5) - Survival Horror Roguelite Still Rocks

zenarcher

This makes absolutely no sense to me... They took one of the best PSVR titles and finally brought it over to the PS5.. WITHOUT the part that made it so special in the first place?! What are publishers thinking these days? If it didn't sell higher numbers, it's likely because it was running on archaic VR tech, screen door effect lenses, using Move controllers, from THREE CONSOLE GENERATIONS AGO. The graphics and sound may have taken a step forward, but everything else took several steps back. Hopefully they have plans to add PSVR² support.

Re: What Ever Happened to Vib Ribbon on PS4?

zenarcher

Hey Sony, it's 2023, and we're STILL waiting on VIB RIBBON for the PS4 (or PS5)! I saw the hidden easter egg on the back of the Soul Edge cabinet for PlayStation Stars trophy "Be On Edge" from December. "SCPS-18012" scratched onto the back of the cabinet. Is this a hint that it coming? I'm not sure why no one else has commented on this.

Re: PSVR2: How to Fix Blurry or Unclear Image Quality

zenarcher

It looks like a lot of fake "reviews" of the PS VR2 here. "Blurry images, and barely better than PSVR1".. LOL.. Yeah right. stick with proper reviews and people who have no console allegiance. I recommend the Digital Foundry review, and others so have been using VR for years.

Re: Psychonauts 2 Treated to a PS5 Patch

zenarcher

So, it sounds like there are no details as to what this patch actually does, aside from the QOL additions. The PS5 should be able to handle 120Hz/4K, along with the instant loading, when run from the PS5's internal hdd. Any updates, Push Square??

Re: Psychonauts 2 Razzle Dazzles with New Musical Trailer, Still Coming to PS4

zenarcher

@HotGoomba It doesn't look like it would benefit much from next gen tech anyway. It's graphics look stuck somewhere in the PS3/360 era, which is fine. It looks as it should. At least we know for certain that it will play perfectly fine on the PS5, and if it's enhanced for PS4 Pro, should have the usual benefits of playing on a fast CPU frequency (4K, smoother frame rate, etc.).

Re: Psychonauts 2 Razzle Dazzles with New Musical Trailer, Still Coming to PS4

zenarcher

@jorel262 Not necessarily. Microsoft may still continue to release some of their games on other platforms. It wouldn't make sense for MS to restrict a series like Costume Quest, for example, to be an Xbox exclusive. Remember, more sales, means more money for Microsoft, despite what console it sells for. I would at least expect their games to be released on the Switch. Maybe Xbox will have timed exclusivity however.
