As expected, Double Fine showed up during Xbox's just-finished broadcast, and it's given us a fresh look at its latest project. Is Psychonauts 2 still coming to PS4? Don't worry -- despite the studio being bought up by Microsoft, Raz's brain-bending sequel is still en route to PlayStation.
This new trailer gives us our first real look at gameplay, and it looks as trippy, colourful, and downright bizarre as you'd expect. The footage is soundtracked by a song from the game, performed by none other than Jack Black, who previously worked with Tim Schafer and co. on Brütal Legend.
Psychonauts 2 is out next year on PS4. Are you excited for this unusual platformer? Open your minds in the comments section below.

The last of their games for other consoles. Sad.
Looking forward to this. I absolutely loved the first game. Just hope we don’t have to go back to that meat/circus level >shivers<
It kinda sucks that this might not come to PS5, but hey whatever, I'm buying this anyways, no matter if it's on PS4, PS5, or Xbox Series X. (Or Xbone)
Dude this game was suppose to release like two or three years ago, lol.

@Ken_Kaniff eh, better a game delayed than rushed.
I would very much like Brütal Legend 2 after, plz and thx.
@HotGoomba a two year delay is a bit much. Sounds like piss poor management when it came to the time line to finish this game.
@Ken_Kaniff
Actually, the game got delayed from 2019 to 2020 because Double Fine now had the funding to expand the game, as it's reported that before that, they removed boss battles.
I have no idea why it again got delayed to 2021, but I'm guessing it has to do with the pandemic, and it would've been a Series X Launch Title if that didn't happen.
Also, many heavily delayed games like Breath of the Wild turned out to be masterpieces, so if a game is delayed, it rarely because of mismanagement.
@jorel262 Not necessarily. Microsoft may still continue to release some of their games on other platforms. It wouldn't make sense for MS to restrict a series like Costume Quest, for example, to be an Xbox exclusive. Remember, more sales, means more money for Microsoft, despite what console it sells for. I would at least expect their games to be released on the Switch. Maybe Xbox will have timed exclusivity however.
@HotGoomba It doesn't look like it would benefit much from next gen tech anyway. It's graphics look stuck somewhere in the PS3/360 era, which is fine. It looks as it should. At least we know for certain that it will play perfectly fine on the PS5, and if it's enhanced for PS4 Pro, should have the usual benefits of playing on a fast CPU frequency (4K, smoother frame rate, etc.).
@zenarcher I never said that it took much advantage with the Series X, I meant that it would have been a launch title in the same way Breath of the Wild launched on WiiU and Switch on the same day, but I do agree that it looks as it should, although some extra polish could be nice, I'd be fine either way.
Either way, I'm still getting this on PS5/PS4.
