I don't get all the hate on the character. Is it because he's bald? I don't remember people hating Nathan Hale from Resistance or Cole from Infamous. Is it because he's Asian? That would just be straight up bigoted.
I predict that the PS6 will not include a disc drive, but there will be an optional external drive sold separately, so it won't be like the PS5's drive that mounts inside the console. I wish Sony designed the PS5's drive to be external to future proof it to be compatible with the PS6 and beyond instead of necessitating the purchase of another one when the time comes.
@ButterySmooth30FPS I played the first title in the PS3 remaster not too long ago and I didn't notice any issues. Unless there are major, recurring bugs, I'll stick with the 60fps PS3 versions any day.
This would've been more useful 2 weeks ago when I did the transfer to my new Pro. It took a few attempts to get it to work. I did it via the LAN cable method. One annoying quirk is that even with this method both consoles need to be connected to Wi-Fi to perform the transfer. But my old system was always wired, so I had to reconnect the HDMI cable to the old PS5 to connect it to Wi-Fi, then hook my Pro back up to the TV and try again. Another thing I noticed is that many settings did not transfer over, so I had to take a video recording of all the settings on my old system and then reference that to set them on the Pro. Hopefully, this update addressed these issues.
I would advise rewording the title of this article because the current title suggests that it's an official GTA game in anime style. That's how I read it at least.
Fortunately, I had a PS5 Slim that I bought a year ago, so I transplanted the drive from that and swapped the lower plates, then I sold my old PS5 as a digital edition; I managed to recover nearly the full cost of the slim and got a disc drive out of it. Really worked out well.
@anon_pel222 Every developer that has released a Pro patch for their games is neck deep in their next project, yet they manage to do it. Insomniac patched all 4 of their PS5 games. Ubisoft has patched 4 AC games, including the 9-year old Syndicate just yesterday. No excuses. Especially not for Rockstar/Take2.
Kudos to Ubisoft for all these patches for old AC games. Meanwhile, Take-Two and Activision refuse to patch even one of their last gen titles. Even Sony won't update Shadow of the Colossus, The Last Guardian, or The Order, which has been proven to be a relatively trivial task.
I enjoyed this game for what it was. If they proceed to give this treatment to Unity, AC3 Remastered and The Ezio Collection, that would be incredible, but they have already gone above and beyond. (Black Flag is rumored to be getting a remaster, so if true, a patch isn't needed)
There's been a lot of coverage of Spider-Man 2 on the Pro, but I haven't seen any analysis of the first game's Pro upgrade. I'm really interested in seeing what the Pro treatment did for that older title.
@Shad361 You mean Metal Gear Solid (1998)? One of the points made in this article is how Snake Eater is actually the first game chronologically. I too would prefer a remake of MGS, but MGS3 is the optimal one to start with. Hopefully, they will proceed to remake the other titles.
@darthvirgin No, this article isn't entirely accurate. It should work the same way it does with PS5 to PS5. We just don't have 100% confirmation yet. But there's no reason to believe it wouldn't work from PS5 to PS5 Pro.
@LiamCroft "This is the only way to transfer save data outside of the official Data Transfer offered by Sony; there's no other way of doing it".
I believe this is incorrect. The PS5 has a backup and restore feature that includes save data. You can backup the system to an external drive and restore it on another system. See the official PS support article titled "How to back up and restore PS5 console data".
I haven't bought a game on day 1, or even month 1, since the PS3 generation. In fact, for the past decade I haven't played a game in its year 1. I just don't have the money or the time. I'm currently about 5 years behind and I don't mind it at all. I pay an average of $15 per game, including AAA titles. I do buy/play a lot of games, however.
@Blaze215 While I generally agree with you, I do find it quite immersion breaking when I'm playing as Lara, Aloy or Chloe in Uncharted and they're scaling a cliff with their bone-thin arms with the same effortlessness as Nathan Drake—even though such a feat would be physically impossible for him as well. Or how these petite women can just as easily take down multiple trained men in armed or unarmed combat. So giving Lara a strong upper body actually makes more sense to me. She might not be as attractive to most guys who don't prefer women with ripped arms, but she still has a clear feminine figure.
@Alps_Stranger My point exactly. I agree that they shouldn't have made the remaster, but once they did, they had to determine pricing. Their decision to offer the $10 upgrade and raise the price of the PS4 version was actually less sleazy than the alternative options because most people who are interested in playing HZD have already bought it by now. So the vast majority of players will be getting the game for the low upgrade price—including those who were given it for free—instead of everyone paying $50 as you proposed.
@Alps_Stranger @Bez87 @nessisonett Is it scummy that they are charging that much for the remaster, or scummy that they closed a loophole that would allow new customers to get the remaster for cheaper?
@Oram77 That's a bit misleading. They only removed the "A Hideo Kojima Game" card from the opening. Otherwise, he is still fully credited - "Mr. Kojima and all the original development staff are of course credited for their original roles". -Noriaki Okamura, Producer
I'll buy it due to the cheap upgrade price, but surely Sony must know that there's a plethora of first party games that are much more in need of a remaster than this one—a game that is not only already playable on PS5, but is even enhanced. I would think that a full priced remastered collection of any of the beloved series stranded on PS3 would generate more profit than this HZD remaster, of which the vast majority of its sales will undoubtedly be through the upgrade.
I don't see how a HZD remaster would sell better than a remastered collection of any of these PS3 series: Resistance, Killzone, Infamous, Motorstorm, Ratchet & Clank. I guess it requires a lot less work, so it's cheaper to do. But it's still so disappointing to know that they prioritize a game that already looks and runs great on both PS5 and PC.
I finally got to try PS VR2 a few weeks ago, and I enjoyed this game the most of the half dozen demos I played. But it definitely required the largest play area because you need to really swing your arms and reach for the ball at times.
@ButterySmooth30FPS Yes, that was from the blog post, but the next sentence is "Players can add an Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive, or swap out console covers when they become available". The last 4 words suggest that it uses different covers, but the disc drive compatibility suggests otherwise. It looks like the designers compensated for the height differential with the thick band of black in between the side covers compared to the Slim model's thin strip. So the covers should be identical.
Am I the only one to notice that the fact that the Pro uses the same disc drive as the Slim indicates that they both use the same console covers, despite the blog post suggesting otherwise? This also tells us that both models have the same depth measurement.
For fans of The Last Guardian, Sony has a great solution for us to play the game at 60fps: all we have to do is own a disc copy of the game and a PS5 disc drive, then disconnect from the network or delete any patches that were installed. Now we can enjoy the high frame rate with bugs and missing optimizations. No patch needed!
And Red Dead Redemption 2 will still be capped at 30fps with checkerboard rendering. Poor Take-Two; if only they could afford to produce a patch. Same with poor old Activision/Microsoft and their titles (CTR, Crash Trilogy, Spyro Trilogy).
What I want to know is are the covers identical to the slim model's covers? That's the only way there would be a chance that I buy one down the line because I have a slim with the disc drive, and I would want to move the drive over to the Pro and swap the covers so that I could sell my slim as a digital only model.
If the disc drive isn't included it might be a deal breaker for me. I could remove the drive from my current slim model before selling it, but then I would have to buy a side cover, which ridiculously costs almost as much as a new disc drive.
Aren't all the Super Stardust games essentially the same as the original Super Stardust HD? If so, then as the review mentioned, might as well just play Ultimate, but I believe it has issues when played on PS5. Sony/Housmarque should really fix that already. No excuse.
I guess at this point they will never add the ability to copy PS5 game saves to a USB drive. They should at least add a disclaimer on the PS5's packaging and in marketing materials: "PS+ subscription required to secure your game progress".
I enjoyed this game on PSP back in the day and I'm looking forward to playing it again with trophies on PS5.
In a case like this where there's PSP and PS2 versions of the same game, I'm curious how Sony chooses which one to bring forward. I would think the PS2 versions are generally superior in terms of graphics and controls. It would be nice if they released both. Same for Syphon Filter, Twisted Metal and Motorstorm: Arctic Edge (we'll probably never get this one due to music licensing, sadly).
@Rainbowjames Not really, unfortunately. The best they offer is the option to view your account transaction history from the PS website.
