@TemporalSword also "Truxton Extreme" is on the horizon with "fancy" graphics and coop gameplay. That's going to be a blast. I immediately bought earthion as it hits my nostalgia and I am a SEGA Mega Drive boy!

@Shad361 I don't think having a big ip is a guarantee for success, but it helps with user acquisition. I don't think there are endless opportunities like this.

with such a strong IP I think it is a bit unfair to compare it to other live service games. This magnitude of IP blockbuster live service game can not happen more often, if ever again?

Even if you think Japan is nintendo-land, the playstation 5 is also (relatively) strong there apparently:

1. United States: Approximately 15 million units sold.
2. Japan: Around 6 million units sold.
3. United Kingdom: Approximately 4 million units sold.
4. Germany: Estimated 3 million units sold.
5. France: Estimated 2.5 million units sold.

@Toot1st Nice! I Also had a great time with Concord while it lived. I think you can have a decent amount of fun with all of them, but that doesn't mean they will survive. This one does look interesting, but from what I see I don't think it can survive.

I was in the same room at Unreal Fest when he spoke about (t)his future last year. I did not like it back then and I do not like it now.

There will always be indie games and single player experiences, but the time of the big budget AAA(A) games may come to an end.

Kids are playing on mobile devices, consoles may die..

I'm so glad that I was born in the 80s and was able to witness all the big leaps the industry made.

My guess is that the future will be with Nintendo in the coming years as the western capitalism driven developers and publishers seem to be unable to play by the rules of perpetual growth.

We also should not forget, that, even though we have clear numbers here, we are CORE GAMERS, and there are a lot of people out there who aren't. This community may be a minority after all and potentially a lot of people will play the game. That may be the bet of Sony. I'm ready to get surprised, but still the stars aren't that well aligned for this game it seems.

(It should probably still be F2P, so that you don't need PSPLUS for this)

I thought "setting expectations low" was a bit of a self-ironic move and I smirked thinking that. Maybe I was wrong with my judgement though (I like the game)

I played probably 100 hours DD1, it is one of my top 5 games. I got early access of DD2 and played also a lot, but it did not get me as much as DD1. I would like to continue one day...

I'm seriously surprised by the quality. I played maybe 5 hours yesterday and will probably continue today

@Ken_Kaniff yeah exactly. It is a miracle to me why games like "suicide squad" get developed. It was SO OBVIOUS that this will fail when I saw the first gameplay a year ago. As you say, getting into that space is almost impossible.

ooff.. the 8 bit music together with fast paced call of duty gameplay does not sit well with me. also just replacing the assets does not make the game appear more "retro" to me. But as an old gamer I may be sensitive to that. Wishing everyone all the fun with it!

Calling an indie-game that is critically acclaimed (90 open critic) "boring" demonstrates either immaturity or a troll mindset. In any way.. don't feed it.

@JeongersGaming well there is "Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir", so there is a bit of hope of a Muramasa "remake". I would play it again, but I also did not spend much time with the Odin Sphere remake.

9/10 I love it! I would not say it's their best game (all games are VW games are good!), but there is a lot of depth and tactic required when playing on Expert. @breakneck , what difficulty did you play on?

@Kidfunkadelic83 It's a known issue that cross-play friends request are not working at the moment, there are 400 issues on discord and 200 in the steam discussion board. Guess it came in with the recent patch and I just have to wait another week when this is hopefully fixed!

Yes! Vanilla Ware delivered again <3 I hope they will always be able to make games like this!!

"FFVI - Terra Theme" is my absolute favourite. The intro of the game paired with this masterpiece gives me chills and tears every time!

@NinjaWaddleDee "Odin Sphere" was my first Vanilla Ware game I fell in love with. It's near damn perfect. Dragons Crown is a lot of fun but wears off a bit after a few hours. I want a Muramasa remaster for PS4/5! "13 Sentinels" is amazing because of the story, the combat is nice, but that's not the strength of the game.

The auto-battle was a bit of a disappointment at first, but then I figured out that you can re-arrange the units and have conditions for their skills. The game definitely has enough depth!

I love all Vanilla Ware games and this will be a day-1 purchase. My estimation will be 85/100

Quite amazing that you can play the demo (the full game, save-game transferable) for 6 hours!
