Re: PS Plus Price Increase Hits Another Country, Canada Forced to Pay More

jgrangervikings1

Sony’s only hurting itself by this move—not with the uptick in pricing, though. Price increases can and do happen. Rather, it’s the optics that will hurt Sony the most.

What do I mean? A cost of $225 per year sounds incredibly expensive. BUT, if they were to instead roll it out as an $18.75 per month cost where the credit card on file gets charged the first Tuesday of every month, it wouldn’t sound so bad. And the outcry would be short-lived.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for April 2025?

jgrangervikings1

I’m genuinely excited to for War of the Monsters. It’s a game I wanted to buy back in 2003/2004 for the PS2, then PS3, then the PS4, and I never did. Don’t know why, just never did. And now, after all this time, BOOM! 💥 PS Plus Premium!

Cue the twinkly music inside my head:
🎶 It’s now Two Zero Twenty-Five /
my gawd I’m glad I’m still alive.

The monster wars are here again /
I’m gonna bash stuff with a friend.

Punch and kick and then defend /
Perhaps the world is at its end?

The city? Gone. Its defenses failed /
The mother cried; the baby wailed.

Destruction’s done with grace and style /
And OMG! Like a Dragon (Infinite Wealth) has a 10 hour trial.

The best things about ‘twenty-five? /
My friends and me and PS5. 🎶

Re: Remember to Get These 80+ PS5, PS4 Deals Before the Spring Sale Refresh

jgrangervikings1

If you’re looking for the “best of the bargain bin,” I recommend these titles. Pretty sure they’re all $3.50 or less:

—Bucket Crusher
—Steel Rats (regular or deluxe edition)
—The Swindle
—Deadly Days
—Letter Quest Remastered
—Murdered: Soul Suspect
—PacMan 256
—Ruiner
—The Church in the Darkness
—The Kindeman Remedy
—Glass Masquerade 1 & 2*
—Party Hard 1 & 2**
—Beholder
—Broken Age
—Just Cause 3
—Pool Nation
—Nerd Survivors

*Both are equally good
**I enjoyed the first one more than the second, but the second has 2 player couch co-op, so pick your poison. 😉

Re: Age Ratings Suggest Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and 3 Remasters Heading for PS5

jgrangervikings1

Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad COD MW2 and MW3 are being remastered, but I’m tired of seeing cross-gen games continue to release. It’s 2025, and the PS5 was released in 2020. Let’s be done with “new” PS4 games. It’s time to fully embrace the PS5.

Maybe I’m the only one who feels this way, but the PS5 seems more like a mid-gen console upgrade than a full-fledged next-gen “must have” console. (That said, most of the annoyance comes from a handful of my friends who STILL haven’t upgraded to PS5 because new games continue being released for PS4. Egads, guys. Go buy a PS5 already!)

Re: EyeToy Era Gameplay Is Making a Comeback, And No One Really Noticed

jgrangervikings1

I’d love to bring back the EyeToy games. The pet one was a lot of fun; my daughter played with that game more than she played with her real dog. 🤣

@rjejr I still have my Wonderbook and Book of Spells! I was always curious about Diggs Nightcrawler, but I don’t think I ever ponied up the bucks to buy it. I know I have a Diggs Nightcrawler theme for my PS3, though. That’s gotta count for something. 🤣

——

General comment: I always thought the Vita’s AR cards were a cool idea. I only played with ‘em here and there, but that was mostly because I didn’t have a lot of space on my memory card, so the AR-specific games, like Cliff Diving and Fireworks, had to go. I remember fooling around with the Street Fighter x Tekken AR stuff, and my daughter got a good laugh from Blanka trying to shock my big toe.

Anyway, the Vita AR cards didn’t work well because—at least for me—I would never think about bringing the cards with me when traveling. HOWEVER, since the PS5 doesn’t travel anywhere, it’d be awesome to have some AR cards that would work with some of the games…and also work with the PS Portal. Sony should definitely bring back some of those cool, interesting technologies.

Re: Best PS5, PS4 Games Like Mario Kart

jgrangervikings1

A ton of people around the world play Mario Kart as a single-player game, but what makes this Nintendo franchise SHINE is its four-player, split-screen action. If the games on this Mario Kart-like list don’t feature split-screen action, they shouldn’t be on this list. THAT—that four-player split-screen action—is the heart and soul of what makes Mario Kart the gaming treasure that it is.

No split screen? Sorry, it ain’t like Mario Kart. It’s just a racing game.

———

Side question: Never played or even heard of Faaast Penguin. Is that game somehow related to the Dreamcast’s Pen Pen TriIcelon?

Re: Dodgy List of Most Influential Games Ever Puts 2-Month-Old RPG in the Top 10

jgrangervikings1

As far as fighting games are concerned, Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat should both get strong consideration, probably more to SF2, though, since it released first.

Diablo should be somewhere on the list. And what was the most influential roguelike? And Metroid/Castlevania should be on the list, too.

GTA 3 was hugely influential; GTA not as much. Driving/racing games? Maybe Pole Position.

Re: Mini Review: XIII (PS5) - Improvements Can't Save This Remaster Redo

jgrangervikings1

Playing through the game on the PS5 now (PS5 version). I’m more impressed than I thought I’d be. Yes, the AI is inept. Yes, there are a few mandatory stealth-required areas. Yes, there are only four or five soldier models that are used. But, with all that said, there’s a good amount of story and missions here, and it’s not bogged down with 20 minute cut scenes like so many other games are these days. To be sure, there are plenty of cut scenes, but they’re kept brief for the most part.

The music is kind of jazzy and sophisticated. The voiceover work is fine. The cell shading helps keep the graphics fresh. The audio and sound effects are good. The game runs smoothly overall.

In conclusion, XIII is no 007, but it ain’t bad for what it is: A competent first-person shooter with some stealth-based elements. And, stealth isn’t required in most cases if you can get in there quick and whack the bad guys before they set off the alarms. I’d give it somewhere around 6 to 6 1/2 stars. If you can get the PS5 version for, say, $8 or less, great! Pick it up.

Re: Talking Point: What Are Your Thoughts on Potential $80 PS5 Games?

jgrangervikings1

Nintendo has done a great job for itself by being able to keep their prices high. For example, Mario Kart 8 came out in 2020 for $59.99. Its price five years later is…$59.99 (though it’s on sale at Walmart currently for $47.44). Compare that to, say, anything by Ubisoft, where 3 months after release the $69.99 game has dropped to $39.99 or lower…and by six months to a year later, the game is likely between $10 and $20.

Long story short, Nintendo can probably get away with charging more per game, and that’s largely because of both the fun factor and the replayability factor. You’ll come back to Nintendo’s games again and again; consumers know that, and they’ll pay for it…some begrudgingly, but pay for it they will.

Re: New PlayStation Studio Dark Outlaw Games Acknowledged on Official Site

jgrangervikings1

How many development studios has Sony shuttered in the past five years? Firewalk Studios, Neon, and Japan Studios come to mind as the most recent closures. And now Sony has created a new one called Dark Outlaw? Why all the layoffs at one place only to hire at another? I guess I just don’t understand how video game development companies work. Seems like Sony could save a lot in recruiting and HR staffing/hiring/firing and unemployment costs by just re-allocating existing employees to different projects within the Sony Development umbrella.

For what it’s worth, I’d love to see a new Warhawk and another PlayStation All Stars.

Re: Silent Hill F's Content Warning Demands a Strong Stomach

jgrangervikings1

There may be a parent or guardian out there who’s letting a kid play the game without realizing just how mature and graphic the content is. It’s probably good to have the warning.

Even with the warning, I can’t imagine the content is any worse than what’s in Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus. The mental abuse, the physical abuse, the animal abuse, the racism, the…ugh…I’ll stop there. That game had some really tough scenes.

Re: Last Chance to Get These 18 PS5, PS4 Games in PS Store's Extended Play Sale

jgrangervikings1

Funny. I think I have all of these games except Action Henk and the Castlevania Collection. Of the games mentioned, they’re all high quality, but the only one I played through to the end was Maneater…oh, and the Uncharted games. The other ones just, well, there was always something better in the backlog that dragged me away, and I never went back. Even with Maneater I put it to the side for a few years and then recently went back and got into it. So, for that reason, I recommend Maneater—especially on PS5 to eliminate the loading time.

Of the games I noticed in the extended play sale, my recommendation is…

Sniper Elite 4

I enjoyed Sniper Elite 4 much more than the disappointing Sniper Elite 5. There’s a lot of good playtime to be had with SE4, and the slo-mo sniper shots are gory and cool. If you don’t have it, you’re missing out!

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for March 2025?

jgrangervikings1

@nomither6 Yeah, it seems like PS+ is a good landing spot for poorly-selling AAA games, and sometimes it is. Immortals of Aveum, Immortals: Fenix Rising, Forspoken, Ghostwire Tokyo, Gravity Rush and Gravity Rush 2, Top Spin 2K25, Dead Island 2, Crime Boss Rockay City, Sins Row…all of these underperformed.

I’m surprised Sony never offered Anthem for PS+ users…or, say, that “new-ish” Prince of Persia game that undersold.

As an aside, I’m still having a tough time believing Sony would totally kill a completely finished game like Concord. It just has to be re-released as a free-to-play or PS+ game at some point.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for March 2025?

jgrangervikings1

With arguably the best month in PS+ offerings ever (alongside that one month in 2015 where Rocket League—then NOT a free-to-play game—was released on PS+ as a Day 1 download), 25% of the respondents to this poll think this month’s releases could be better, and another 13% think the releases are “just okay.”

The results of the poll tell us all we need to know: No matter what games are made available for the PS+ download, about a third of the people won’t like ‘em.

Perhaps an additional poll question needs to be asked. Something like this:

Regardless of whether or not you’re interested in (or already own) the games PS+ is offering in March 2025, what “value” do the offered games provide to their subscriber base:
A) Great value
B) Good value
C) Fair-to-ok value
D) Less than adequate value
E) Lousy value

Re: PS Plus Essential PS5, PS4 Games for March 2025 Announced

jgrangervikings1

The Dragon Age game is huge in size, I’m betting, and space is a premium on the PS5, so if there’s an option to stream it to play, I’ll give it a go. If not, well, we’ll see.

Cowabunga Collection? Ok. If there are couch co-op options, I’ll do it.

The one that interests me is Sonic Colors. I wanted to play that one back on the Wii and never did, so I’ll download that one.

Re: Two Point Museum (PS5) - Laugh Out Loud Tycoon Title Is Well Worth the Entry Fee

jgrangervikings1

I’m so hit and miss with these types of games. The hospital one I didn’t like; couldn’t stand the UI menus/sub-menus. That said, I really enjoyed Two Point Campus. I thought the UI menus were better, and I played the heck out of that game and even got the platinum, which is something I rarely even try to attain.

Same thing with the Jurassic Park Evolution 1 and 2, though—hit and miss. I LOVED the first game, but I didn’t like the changes they made with the interface to the second game.

I’m afraid I’m going to need an hour or two of game time with a demo before buying Two Point Museum. Just don’t want to risk getting it and then finding out it plays more like Two Point Hospital than TP Campus.

Re: PS5 Fans Are Pondering the Point of Days Gone Remastered After Graphics Comparison Emerges

jgrangervikings1

The problem with the PS4 version was the terrible slowdown. I don’t know what “silky smooth 60 fps” felt like. To me, there were spots where the gameplay speed dipped down to, say, 20 fps. That said, I don’t have a PS4 Pro, and I played the game on my regular old PS4 (through PS+) prior to purchasing my PS5. If the new version is truly 60 FPS, wow. Forget about graphical improvements; the higher fps speed alone would make it worth re-experiencing…at the right price, that is.

Re: 35 PS5, PS4 Games You Should Grab in PS Store's Planet of the Discounts Sale

jgrangervikings1

I highly recommend Nerd Survivors (on sale for $4.19/€4.89). It’s damn addictive and well worth the price.

I also recommend Nine Parchments (PS4) from the makers of the Trine games. It features 4 player local co-op with lots of friendly fire. I’ve had a heck of a good time with this one. My friend and his two kids invite me via shareplay, and we rock n roll! It can be as grindey as you want it to be. 👍

Re: PSN Down Worldwide as PS5, PS4 Players Can't Log In or Play Online

jgrangervikings1

Remember that time back in 2011 when PSN was down for 24 days? Yeah, that was a hoot. 🤣 and 😓 The cool thing about that was that Sony gave everyone a couple of free downloadable games for all the pain and suffering—and they were pretty good games, too. Was Ratchet and Clank Up Your Arsenal one of ‘em…and maybe Going Commando, too? The slowdown sucked on both of those games, but they were still fun and I hadn’t played either of ‘em, so that was neat-o.

And then there was the time when one of the big new release video games showed up as free on PSN, so everyone jumped online ASAP to get it…but then it charged everyone, I think. Pretty sure we all got credited back for it, but I do remember that the NBA 2K game also showed up as free, so I downloaded that one, too, but they did charge me in full for that game with no refund. Bummer, but ok. Twas a fun game.

Anyway, the outage sucks, and it’s exacerbated by being a weekend in a crappy, cold, wintery February in Minnesota (where I am). Still, I can use YouTube and Tubi and Amazon Prime…and I can always go back to the Wii or the Dreamcast and play a couple of games in my backlog. Pokepark 2 perhaps? Maybe some Elemental Gimmick Gear or HydroThunder or Bangai-O…or, hey, one of my faves, Hoyle Casino. 😊

Re: Poll: Would You Buy a PS5 Mouse Accessory?

jgrangervikings1

Bring in the mouse, bring in the keyboard, bring in the PSMove, support the Wonderbook, whatever! Get it done. Just get us a remake of Typing of the Dead.

Then add in smart phone support (Playlink+) and call it Typing of the Dead: Thumbs Up Edition. 👍

Heck, make it two-player like the original, and call it Typing of the Dead: Thumb and Thumber.

For that matter. I’m still waiting for a smart phone Bump ‘n’ Jump sequel; I’d call it Bump ‘n’ Thumbp. 🫠

Re: Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown's Reported 1.3 Million Sales Not Enough for Ubisoft

jgrangervikings1

Sorry, I was not one of the 1.3M buyers of PoP: TLC. The $59.99 price was too high for what I felt looked like a $29.99-$39.99 game. I still want to play the game, but I’m willing to wait for a nice price…like, say, $9.99.

Of the video game companies still out there today, I don’t understand how Ubisoft is still in business. They bleed their IPs dry by pushing out more and more sequels & remakes. It’s over-saturation. And, then, it seems like every game of theirs gets discounted 50% or more after about two months. Why should anyone buy their games on day 1?

I don’t mean to crap on Ubisoft; they do have some great games in their history, and you don’t get to make an 18th sequel to a franchise unless the first couple sold like gangbusters. And, even their “bad” games are still pretty good, but that’s what their games are: pretty good. Right now, in 2025, I don’t see much innovation coming from Ubisoft. Most of their game experiences feel same-y. It’s like, “hey, didn’t I already play this game last year? Oh, it just came out. Huh! I could’ve sworn…”. And that’s why I have no problem waiting for Prince of Persia to drop down to $9.99 or less before picking it up. Sorry if I sound arrogant or cynical or callous or mean-spirited. I’m mostly just disappointed. I’d rather have 6-10 hours of pure bliss than 50+ hours of “pretty good.”

Re: Xbox Boss Wants to Beat PS6 on Hardware Capabilities, Not Necessarily Games

jgrangervikings1

If XBox (and PlayStation) want(s) to appease its gamers, make the next system with at least 10x more hard drive space than the current gen systems. Even with an 8TB external HD attached to my PS5, I’m picking and choosing what games to keep on the hard drive. And, honestly, I’m tired of moving PS5 games back and forth from external hard drive to internal SSD.

Yes, I know, my complaint isn’t a major issue for everyone, and my brother would likely say to me, “hey, shut up with your first-world problem, you ungrateful whiner!” And I totally get that, but it IS frustrating to want to play a game but not have the SSD space to do so.

It’s to the point where, on most PS+ games, I’ll just use the stream option instead of downloading the whole game. And, with some games where I have both the PS5 and PS4 version of a game, I’ll just play the PS4 version through my external hard drive rather than trying to make space on the SSD for the PS5 version. Do I miss out on better graphics and frame rate that way? Sure, but it’s quicker, and the time I save is worth it. 😕

Re: Rumour: Gears of War, Hellblade 2 Both Set for PS5 This Year

jgrangervikings1

@GoatFace04 😊 Ha. I hope I’m not right. I like my Sony systems. I just figured if I AM right and I have it in writing, I’d look like a genius. Always looking for an opportunity to say “I told ya so” to all my friends and family. 🤣

BTW, you’re totally right. By themselves, those Microsoft ports would have to be the kickassiest games ever to get everyone to move over to a Microsoft machine. Halo and Forza alone would not get the job done. But, if we add in all those Bethesda, Activision, Blizzard, Ninja Theory, and Mojang games that could become exclusive to Microsoft on a future system, well, that might be enough to cripple the heck out of PS6’s sales.

Dare I make another rumor? Ubisoft is struggling, Warner Bros. and Rocksteady Studios are hurting, and there are a lot of IPs owned by the Embracer group that could probably be picked off for a price…and last time I checked, Microsoft is still making money hand-over-fist from Windows and Microsoft Office. I’m bettin’ Microsoft’s got the dough available. Heck, for that matter, Microsoft could team up with Meta/Oculus to make a VR peripheral. If there’s money to be made, Zuckerberg’s all ears.
👂🔭😱

Re: Rumour: Gears of War, Hellblade 2 Both Set for PS5 This Year

jgrangervikings1

Yes, I’ll play Gears of War!

And here’s a juicy rumor that I’m making up right now: Microsoft’s strategy is to release their exclusive IPs to PS5, thereby lassoing in all the Sony system’s users. Then, in a 180 degree about face, Microsoft will ONLY allow their IP on Microsoft’s next gaming console, the XBox Viper.

That’s right! You read it correctly: NO Microsoft company games will be on ANY future Sony systems beyond the PS5. The reasoning? Microsoft games on PS5 help the Seattle-based company gain a loyal “Microsoft games” following by Sony gamers during THIS generation. Then, when the XBox Viper is released in 2 years, all the Sony gamers will immediately jump to the Microsoft platform because they’ll be hooked on Microsoft’s games and need to keep playing them. And the end result? Sony will handily lose the next generation’s console war.

Now, with all that being said, I’m not reporting on the legitimacy of my claims, but since this is MY rumor, that’s what I’m going with!

Re: Freedom Wars Remastered (PS5) - PS Vita Classic Offers a Compelling Alternative to Monster Hunter

jgrangervikings1

This is a game I have on Vita and really wanted to get into, but for some reason I just didn’t. I do remember it being fun, though. What I remember most is that I did something really innocuous, like touching the wall in my prison…or perhaps looking the wrong way or something, and the dang government kept adding years onto my sentence. I was like, “forget you, government! I’d rather hang out in my cell.” Power off! 🤣

I might pick this one up just to give it another try—when the price is right. In other words, I’ll give you my review in two years. 😋

Re: Game of the Year: #1 - Astro Bot

jgrangervikings1

I recently watched a YouTube video compilation of various streamers watching the game of the year award being handed out. Most of the streamers were really surprised that Astrobot won, and many were either disappointed or upset that one of the other games didn’t win. That said, seeing all the love PushSquare and its users have shown Astrobot since the game’s release, I figured Astrobot would be a shoo-in for the award. And, ultimately, I was surprised so many of the streamers were surprised or upset.

Was Astrobot’s win really that big of an upset?

Re: We Wish You a Merry Christmas

jgrangervikings1

Merry Christmas. Nine Parchments looks like a good investment for those wanting a nice sale price on a couch co-op game. And I’m a bit surprised that I’ve been digging The Church in the Darkness, another on sale gem about trying to get your brother out of the cult commune. Murder Mystery Machine seems interesting, too, with trying to piece together evidence to arrest the baddies. Lots of good cheap games on sale now, but there’s a lot of junk to wade through, too. Good luck!

Re: Xbox Feels It Made a Mistake Skipping PS5 with Hellblade 2, It's Claimed

jgrangervikings1

I’m interested in giving the second one a try. That said, I tried running the first one through my external hard drive on the PS5 and started out with a warning saying that running this game through the PS5 may cause problems…and that’s exactly what happened…it glitched out after about a half hour. Does anyone know if it got patched to fix the glitchy problems? Maybe I just need to go back and try it again and it could work? Or, I suppose I could always just run the game through the PS4, but my PS4 is so old and laggy now…seems to take forever to start things up and get ‘em going—and it’s not just because it’s a PS4. I need to defrag it or something.

Anyway, I did enjoy what I played of the first one and I’d like to see more of the first and, of course, the second. Bring it to PS5, Microsoft! I dare ya!

Re: Dave the Diver Dredges Up an Impressive 5 Million Copies Sold

jgrangervikings1

How do the PS+ download numbers play into the stat of 5 million sold? Supposedly there are about 6.1 million PS+ Essential users, so for every PS+ download of the game, is it considered “1” copy sold?

Three million pc owners, maybe 50K Switch players (the game just released there in October), perhaps 500K people who bought the game through PS store, and then that’d mean that about 1.45M people who downloaded the game through PS+? Sounds about right.

It’s a fun game, it’s true. I played it for a couple hours, and I’ll come back to it again at some point. I’m still grinding away at Two Point Campus, specifically to get a teacher skilled at level 10. I’m getting really close—got ‘em to level 9 last night! Then I gotta get more students to drop out to get that trophy…and then I can be done! Just a couple more hours should do it. 😅

Re: PS Plus Essential Games for November 2024 Announced

jgrangervikings1

Ghostwire: Tokyo is listed on Epic Game Store as a free weekly giveaway starting in a few days, so if you have a PC that’s capable of playing it…there ya go…no PS+ needed!

As many probably remember, Ghostwire: Tokyo was already available at one point for PS+, but I’m glad they’re bringing it back as a permanent “keep it” game for those with a current subscription. I didn’t get to play it much before it was gone, so I’ll put more time into it when it returns.

Hot Wheels 2? Ok. Fine. I thought the first one was decent and fun in short bursts. I was hoping they’d do a better job of reintroducing us to all of the old Hot Wheels cars that they produced throughout the 1970s and 1980s and so on…and letting us play with all of ‘em in the game, but they didn’t do that. C’est la vie. I guess I can be disappointed with what we didn’t get, or I can evaluate what we did get…and on those merits, the first one was fine, though I wasn’t as high on it as Push Square’s score. Anyway, that was the first HW game, not the second one. I’ll give the second one a try!

As for these online “figure out which one of us the bad guy is” games, whatever. Never got into them. When I did try a couple of ‘em, players would just randomly kill me for no reason, so it just seemed like a waste of time. Maybe I’ll give it a try, but hard drive space is low, so I probably won’t. As it is, I don’t have enough room now to download the updated version of Walkabout Mini Golf. 🫤

Re: Xbox Fans Really Want a Port of PS5, PC Hit Helldivers 2

jgrangervikings1

I’ll never forget the first time I fired up a PS5 game and it said “Microsoft Corporation” in the opening credits. I was afraid my PS5 would self-destruct. But, to my amazement, the PS5 still works.

So, with that said, at the end of the day, it’s quite ok that Sony games can be experienced—and adored—on an Xbox by a whole slew of drooling, malnourished gamers with the same love of console gaming that us PS5ers have. And, what better, more appropriate game is there to showcase on an Xbox than Sony’s juggernaut shooter where a team of heroes dive through hell and back to save the planet from big, nasty bugs?! 🐛 🪳 🐞 We’re doing God’s work here.

Welcome aboard, new recruits. And don’t forget to grab your AR-201L on your way in.

Re: Interview: Falcom President Talks All Things Trails, Daybreak 2, and Kai in Our Biggest Interview Ever

jgrangervikings1

Awesome interview. I’m glad that PushSquare was able to do the interview, because it’s really clear that you guys are big fans of Falcom’s games, and you were able to go into deeper depth with the questions you asked. They weren’t just basic, skim-the-surface questions that anyone could have asked. Impressive!

That said, I wish you guys had asked a question about the upcoming Tokyo Xanadu game. Really enjoyed TX ex+ on PS4, and want to know more about the sequel.

Also, the dude is right to want to play as Rean Schwarzer in a fighting game. Who wouldn’t?! He rocks!

Re: Retro Collection Tetris Forever Fast Drops onto PS5, PS4 in November

jgrangervikings1

Geez, which Tetris game should one play first? What’s the best? Which is worst? I s’pose the answer depends if you’re a fan of old school blocky graphics or 4K blocky graphics.

I’m sure there are different play modes and mini-games worth trying, but in the end it’s still Tetris. And that’s just fine…but 15 versions of the same game? I dunno. I thought it was a neat idea until I bought the Contra Anniversary Collection and started playing Contra…and then Contra…and then Contra…and then… … … CONTRA. Boy oh boy! That excitement waned after about 20 minutes, and I stopped playing after an hour. (There were different Contra games to play in that collection, though, so it had that going for it.)

Long story short on this Tetris compilation, if the price comes down to under $10, ok, I’ll bite! Until then, I’ve got Tetris Effect for PS4 and PSVR, Tetris on PS3, Tetris Ultimate on Vita, and both Nintendo’s Tetris and Tengen’s Tetris on the NES. I think I have a Tetris game on the Dreamcast, too, but even if I do, I’d rather spend my time on that machine with Wetrix+. It’s highly underrated.

Ok, now I’m off to play Columns III on my Sega Genesis…or, wait, should I play Columns on Sega CD since the music is better and the graphics are crisper? But those load times—dang! The horror! The horror! 😋

Re: Tech Experts Reckon PS5 Pro Could Help Pave the Way to PS6

jgrangervikings1

@LogicStrikesAgain You’re getting it right. Yes, the monthly fee would probably need to be increased to $30 or $40 per month, but everything seems to be a monthly payment nowadays—from cable to internet to phone to car payment to house payment to insurance costs to credit card payments. It’d just be one more monthly payment.

Re: Tech Experts Reckon PS5 Pro Could Help Pave the Way to PS6

jgrangervikings1

I have a tough time understanding why the video game business isn’t more like the mobile phone industry. The phones are basically free from many providers…as long as you have a subscription to their service. That’s kind of what we have now with PS+, but we still have to pay full price for the system.
