Re: PS1 Ridge Racer Poised for PS5, PS4 via PS Plus Premium

As a PS Portal owner the biggest draw for premium is the game streaming aspect which in my experience works extremely well.

They’d be better off only updating the classics every quarter but having a decent drop when they do, because doing it this way only highlights the dearth of newly added titles

Re: PS Plus Members Get Dibs on PS5, PS4's Humongous January Sale

@Futureshark yes that’s exactly it! I would probably feel guilty/foolish buying a game not on sale. It feels more like price anchoring than anything else now. The only games I’ve bought full price have been those that notoriously never go on sale, as I feel confident that I won’t have the disappointment/remorse of it being discounted the next week.

It’s interesting how the idea of a sale has changed over the years. It used to be once or twice a year, a real event where the discounts were deep and people would stock up knowing that it would be at least another six months before an item they were interested in was reduced again. Now it feels like stores can’t operate without some sort of sale being on. As others have said, it somewhat devalues the impact of a sale, and worst of all sometimes the sale prices in one sale can be twice the price of the sale price from the last. I end up resorting to psprices to decipher if it’s actually a good deal!

Re: PS5, PS4 Owners Are Understandably Irate with PS Plus Price Hike

I had been a loyal PlayStation gamer, owning all the consoles from PSX -> PS4, including both handhelds.

When the new consoles were announced in 2020 I decided I'd try something new and bought three years of Game Pass (£120 on a deal) and a Series S.

If I'm honest I've been wildly underwhelmed. I played a bit of Destiny, thoroughly enjoyed Forza Horizon 4, and tried hard to get excited for Horizon 5. But ultimately came away feeling a bit 'meh'.

So with talk of a slim PS5 and my Gamepass sub due to expire in a few months, I planned to come back to the Playstation fold. But now I'm not so sure.

The whole aura around PlayStation at the moment feels very reminiscent of the early PS3 era - taking the community for granted.

I had Plus for over 10 years before I 'defected' so I have a bunch of value in subbing to the Essentials plan, but right now I just don't feel good about it.

Re: PS5 Fans Are Panicking Over Backwards Compatibility

It would be 'satisfying' to have access to, and the ability to play the whole back catalogue of games on one PlayStation console. (It's one of the things I am envious of PC gamers over).

Even if PS5 was PS4 and PS2 backwards compatible that would be amazing, at least you'd then only need a PS3 and PS5 to have access to the full library.
