@neumaus I might spend more time on Nintendo Life, but I own a PS3. Heck, I own a Move. And I've seen how badly that's been supported. Making the Vita remote play necessary is good long term, but devs are not going to be happy about it. Especially when facts are facts, Vita might be more powerful than the 3DS, but it sure as heck isn't selling.
@charlesnarles Glad to see someone at least can laugh about Vita's poor sales.
PS4 is set up to win the next generation - if they don't block used sales. And considering they refuse to answer questions about DRM, I wouldn't expect their eventual answer to be a good one. And even though I don't buy used games unless they are older gen games, I know a lot of people do. And that is not a good thing for the industry period.
Anything less than $500 would be a shocker. Sony can't afford to take losses for the next three years from selling another system at a huge loss. Even at $500, it will still be $100-$200 less than the Xboner. That puppy, besides being unpopular already, is going to be expensive.
I do think they'll try and bundle PS4 and Vita for like $850 though.
This is really good news for Nintendo. If devs will have to develop remote play for PS4/Vita, might as well for the Wii U as well. Plus they will learn how to do it. Making it a requirement though seems like a bit much. I don't think Nintendo does that, though most game seem to support it.
And hey, those 187 people who own a Vita are going to love this feature when they pick up a PS4!
Whether or not online play remains free remains to be seen. I expect non-PS+ people to be able to download games/DLC of course, but beyond that? Hmm, we'll see. I imagine any type of sale will be not available to non-plus people either. I hope I'm wrong. But I've noticed even on PS3, the sales for non-plus people are pretty bad compared to the Plus people. Not enough to warrant me getting the service though.
EA is heading down a dark path with the talk of raising game prices and increase DLC usage. They are going to regret it long term, and no one is going to miss them.
I hope it happens sooner rather than later, I want someone else to make NFL football games.
@rjejr I totally agree with you that the cable TV comment scares me. I like how I can play my PS3 online without being charged. I never bought a 360 because that isn't possible. If you can't play online for free for PS4, I won't get it. I'm not paying a subscription for something I do do for free on my Wii U and my PC.
Let's hope there is still a free option to play online. As for the digital thing, I prefer to buy my games physically. I don't like how he says all launch games are available digital, but only some are physical. That would be a bad precedent set.
Deep Down looked pretty cool. The rest of it was sequels, generic genre games or things I'm not all the interested iin. And Deep Down isn't exclusive. So I'll be waiting to buy PS4, much like PS3. I just wish they would have admitted to copying Miiverse and off-screen TV from Nintendo. Don't say you invented something new.
I wouldnt hold my breath on these rumors. Never has a new system been cheaper than its predessor. $600 min. The camera thing sounds like Sony wants to charge you per person for movie rentals, so hope that isnt true.
Well it's good to hear it's not cancelled, but stinks it won't be on PS3. I only have a PS3 for realistic sports games and RPGs. This was one of the games I was hoping to play on it. Maybe it will come out for both, but I doubt that.
$400 would be a crazy deal. Can't imagine that happening and it being much of an upgrade. But we shall see. I'll keep expectations low and say $600, that way can't be disappointed.
Pretty sure all three companies need to dial back their forecasts from here on out. The boom of 2008-09 is over. Gaming is going to die, but the fad part is over. And who knows what happens when three new systems are on the market by the end of the year.
But man, why no price drop for Vita? They saw what happened to the 3DS, but they refuse to do it. Can only imagine the loss they are already selling it out if they won't drop it.
Just had this thought, strengthened by what you guys said. Sony is not in a position to bring out a PS4 this year. They should be finally making a small profit when selling the PS3. PS4 would be sold at a loss, probably a big one if they want to have a competitive price to the Wii U. So I don't think we're going to see a new system from Sony this year.
Interesting move. in the end it's just a building, even if it is NYC. Still don't understand why they don't drop the price of the Vita and include a memory card with the purchases of it. Sales would improve a ton.
Didn't realize slavery was alive and well in the United States. Kevin Butler, and actor, should be allowed to provide himself with money for food and a living however he wants. Sad that he just gave in to Sony without a full trial.
More proof that the gaming industry is starting to care less about E3. But it also makes sense to do it earlier if there is going to be less than 6 months of hype for the system.
If only the other 85% percent would have realized they are buying a roster update... at least it's going in the right direction. Why a fishing game is this popular is mind boggling.
A bit short of 10 years, but PS3 is at least 7 now, 8 probably by the time PS4 comes out. Question will be if this ends up being $700 or $800. I can't see them going below $600. Heck the Vita is $350 for no good reason.
Better be something pretty big. The way Vitas are "flying off the shelves," they are going to end up at the Target end cap clearance area by year's end.
Lot easier to first comment here. I would say no chance of PS4 announcement this year. You can't bring out another system that will bring a loss on every unit sold when the PS3 is probably just now turning a profit on each sale.
But I'm thinking logically, which Sony does not always do.
I own one, my wife uses it. She struggles with it a lot more than the Wii Mote and Nunchuk thus far. Too many buttons for her. So yeah, at least people are buying it, but its certainly not as intuitive.

PS360 will dominate into 2014. Bank on it.

NIce feature. So if the PS3 can already do this.... why upgrade to PS4?
Re: No, Your PlayStation 4 Won't Play Audio CDs
Well darn. That was the only reason I was going to buy a PS4. Oh well, hope they bring it back for the PS5.
Re: UK Sales Charts: The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct Stumbles into Third
Always sad when people buy games based on the name and not the quality of the product. That Walking Dead game is rubbish.

So, they think Vita is powerful, but they have nothing for it. Will get back to us later. Ouch for Vita users.

Re: PlayStation Vita Has Sold 2.2 Million Units Since Launch
Not really suprised. It's still $250 + the cost of the "SD card" esqe thing to save, right? That's not cheap. I didn't get a 3DS until the price drop.
Honestly I just want a PSP for like $50 so I can play some PSP Monster Hunter. But they are still over $100 which is just wrong.
Re: PlayStation Network Goes Under the Knife This Week

Up to 50% off? The Steam Summer Sale laughs at this, as they reach the 80-90% off range.
I might take a look though at NBA Jam.

Nice to see both Nintendo and Sony execs take pay cuts when the company isn't doing well. American companies would learn well from this example.

No way is at Sony final specks already. Wii U wasn't until, what, a month ago? Still might not be. Take with a grain of salt.
Just got my PS3 anyway, no need for a PS4 just yet.

Or, wait until the Steam Summer Sale and pick up all those 3rd party games with all the DLC for like $5. ... Boy, that's a tough choice.

Gag me. I just played story mode on the first one. It made shovelware look like the Ocarina of Time in terms of story.
