Re: Analyst: Gamers Are Overreacting Over Star Wars, Publishers Should Increase Prices

Wunters

This gentleman obviously doesn't know the games industry at all. Micro transactions in full priced games should be abolished completely. It's fine in mobile gaming for things like Candy Crush and suchlike, but if I spend £45 to £60 on a full game (as it is advertised on the PlayStation Store), I expect to get the full game...not 80% of the game or massive restrictions in access to various pieces of content. It is an outrage for an analyst to get the overwhelming view of the consumer so very wrong. I'm glad he doesn't carry out market analysis for me, Id never sell anything!!! Lol

Re: Poll: Are You Buying Star Wars Battlefront 2?

Wunters

I'm a big fan of DICE as a developer, their Frostbite engine is excellent and they've released some bloody good games over the years. I'm not a fan of Mircotransactions and loot boxes in full priced games, it is a terrible business practice and is rapidly becoming the norm these days. This game takes them to a whole new level which I find appalling. It's time publishers such as EA and Ubisoft (the two main culprits imho) wake up and smell the coffee. If a consumer is forking out full price for a game, they should get the full game and not be strong armed into paying extra for additional characters or bonus levels or loot boxes or forced to play a full 40 hours to unlock one or some of these features. Who came up with this principal and when did this shady activity become the norm. I will boycott this and any other game who adopt such a strategy. It's a disgraceful practice and should be quashed from this industry completely.

Re: 'E3 Was Only Half the Story' Says Sony as It Prepares for Paris Games Week

Wunters

With the Xbox One X launching imminently, I have suspected for some time that Sony would hold back at E3 and save the good stuff for later in the year. Now would be a perfect time to take some of the supposed hype away from Microsoft's latest instalment. I expect a price drop for the base PS4 and the Pro. But all Sony really needs to do is show off some games. Microsoft can release a power house machine, but where are the new IPs....they just churn out Forza and Gear of War year after year. Im not going to dish out 450 squid for a machine that has no exclusives but plays multi plats ever so slightly better. I'd prefer a Nitendo Switch over the One X as things stand.

Re: Assassin's Creed Origins Microtransactions Confirmed, Helix Credits Make a Comeback

Wunters

@kidfried Oh absolutely, don't get me wrong, each to their own, I'm sure there will be people out there such as yourself who will purchase and enjoy the new instalment. But from my stand point, I just don't get it. I loved the Prince of Persia franchise, Ubi Montreal used to push the boundries in gaming, I purchased the original Assassins Creed (which had many flaws) but was the basis of a true open world 'POP like' game. AC2 fixed many of the flaws and was a great game, so was Brotherhood although very samey. I bought AC3 and chucked it in the cupboard after an hour or two...was bored outta my tree, SSDD. I got Black Flag and enjoyed it for 5-6 hours, I admit the new Pirate theme and sea elements added a slight new dynamic, which soon became monotonous. From that point, the series has gone backwards in my opinion, won't buy another one until I see Ubi try and push the boundaries of gaming again. Im in for a long wait methinks! 😁

Re: Assassin's Creed Origins Microtransactions Confirmed, Helix Credits Make a Comeback

Wunters

The sales figures will surprise me, can't fathom why anyone would purchase AC Origins for £50. You can pick up Syndicate, Unity or Black Flag for peanuts these days. And you still get to climb buildings, dive off towers into carts full of hay, stab people with swords and knives, run round pushing people out of the way and ride horses. Why invest £50 into a game you've played a million times before. It's not even like the story arc of these games are all that different either. Ubisoft Montreal really do need to move on from this washed out series in my opinion.

Re: Poll: Do You Think Single Player Games Are Really In Danger of Dying Out?

Wunters

I'm not a massive fan of open world or online games if Im being honest. I dont have the time to put 80 hours into a game, nor am I interested in spending 20 minutes heading from point A to point B on the map. Take Metal Gear Solid 5 for example, it ticked all the boxes, good graphics, solid gameplay, a decent story (although strange). But I was put off early in the game because there was far too much of a barren map to traverse not to mention the oil rig BS. Give me a 12-15 hour single player Uncharted 4 any day of the week. Not enough of them these days in my opinion.

Re: Naughty Dog Responds to Sexual Harassment Allegations

Wunters

It would be foolish for this gentleman to print such a statement, if there were no evidence of his grievance on file with his former employer. Surely it could be construed as an act of libel (or whatever the US equivalent may be) and he would be in a very treacherous position from a legal stand point. I can only assume something has gone on; however, we will never know the full story and nor should we. This is a legal issue between an employer and employee and should be dealt with in the appropriate manner. From my experience, employers often try and offer a cash incentive/disclaimer during the termination process, particularly if it is a redundancy or suchlike. I personally feel it's wrong and unethical, but unfortunately, it's the way of the world these days. Having brought this matter to the public eye may certainly bring about some investigations I would expect.

Re: E3 2017: Sony's Listening to Your Requests for PS4 Remakes

Wunters

I would personally love to see Syphon Filter remade, it's been far to long since we last saw Gabe Logan and the gang. It ticks all the boxes for me. SoC was in my opinion one of the greatest games of all time, the remake looks epic. Day 1 purchase for me, do us proud Bluepoint!!

Re: Review: The Order: 1886 (PlayStation 4)

Wunters

Bought it yesterday, played an hour of it so far and although the pace seems a little slow, the atmosphere and action sequences are pretty good, it's definitely not the worst game I've played, but on the other hand it's not the best either. It seems very linear and there's too many QTE moments in there, but the shooting elements are good. I think 6/10 is a little harsh to be honest, I'd give it a 7.5 from my initial impressions. Feel a little sorry for RAD, I think people are way to expectant of bigger better games that do something new now that we're on a new generation of console. Well not all of us like that, I personally prefer third person shooters, there aren't enough of them about and this will definitely fill the void until Uncharted 4 arrives later this year. I'm not a massive fan of huge 80+ hour open world games where it takes you over an hour to walk from one point on the map to another, it bores me silly.

Re: Extreme Weather Arrives in 1.4GB DriveClub PS4 Patch

Wunters

With all these improvements and extra content, I've just bit the bullet and ordered this game for £29 from Zavvi. Was really looking forward to a decent racing game and all these on going adjustments leads me to have confidence they'll get it right eventually. Well here's hoping anyway!

Re: Gamescom 2014: RIME Still Looks Utterly Resplendent on PS4

Wunters

I want this game downloading on my PS4 right now....this minute and not a second later. It's been far too long for a good game of this genre to be made. Serious PS2 Ico and SoC flashbacks come to memory. I'm also keen to see more of 'The Witness', it's gone a little quiet on that one.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of the Sony PlayStation Gamescom 2014 Press Conference?

Wunters

Although Sony's Gamescom showing was a little lackluster, I still can't wait to get my hands on Rime, reminds me so much of Ico, SoC with a hint of Zelda Windwaker, all of which were excellent and right up my street. One thing I will give Sony, they did show a lot more variety in software. And we all know there are a lot of first party titles on the way, with Naughty Dog, Guerrilla and Sony Santa Monica as well as others a no show, there's sure to be some surprises in the coming months. I reckon The Last Guardian will make an appearance at the Tokyo Games Conference.

Re: Gamescom 2014: Wait, Rise of the Tomb Raider Isn't Coming to PS4?

Wunters

Bit of a daft move from Square Enix in my opinion, I loved the first one but not enough for me to consider purchasing an inferior platform to play the sequel on and I'm certain I won't be the only one who feels this way. I hope whatever sum of money Microsoft have paid SE is enough to cover the deficit in sales numbers. Seems like a risky and short sighted business plan for a third party publisher to sell their product on a less popular platform. I hope for Crystal Dynamics sake it all works out or we my lose yet another games studio.
