@MrPeanutbutterz thank you for your sacrifice! I don’t feel like I have to try the full game now. Everyone seems to love the game so I thought it was only me who felt this way, nice to know I’m not alone!
@MrPeanutbutterz yeah the demo really didn’t do it for me, though maybe the other courses in it are better? But I loved transformed! So from what I played, I agree with you
I finally tried Fortnite, and the menu is like 100 menus threw up. I spent so much time just trying to understand it. Falling from the bus was fun, but after playing for about 30 minutes I started to get so bored. The falling from the bus was actually the funnest part, and was over way too fast.
Something like Stardew Valley I totally can understand someone playing for years and years, but I really don’t get the mass and ever lasting appeal to Fortnite. But I’m clearly in the minority since an overwhelming number of people love it, and have for a long time.
I also really value diverse experiences and want to experience different things. Even games I love, and return to, I still need to play other games between them, in different genres, and about different things.
Using AI is pretty reckless, because of how devastating it is environmentally. It should only be used for very specific things, and not be made widely available until it isn’t consuming vital water and energy supplies, among other things. Information about how serious its environmental impact is being publicly available, it is disappointing that any game studio is choosing to use it. Disappointing so many individuals are using it too.
I still find it very strange the region locked model is the digital version, when Japan still uses a lot of physical media. It will be interesting to see if it does end up selling despite no disc drive because of the price.
@Balaam_ blah is right. It is missing something great art has, that is hard to quantify. But for lack of a better term, it doesn’t have a soul. It is not greater than the sum of its parts. It’s a bunch of generic open world systems put together, and it isn’t bad, or good, it’s just kind of blah. I think one of the main issues for me was how closely it followed that endless checklist open world design that is pointless and exhausting. And on top of it, there was so much dialogue that didn’t have a point, or fill in lore, or really do anything but waste time. Which is also true of its open world design. So much filler.
I really wanted to love the game but it made me really bored with its repetitive open world design. I think the game would have benefitted greatly by not being open world, but a more guided narrative adventure game. And it did have a bit of jank, with awkward controls. For me the best thing so far about Horizon was the Horizon Astrobot level.
It’s strange they chose the digital only console to do this though. Japan buys more physical games, compared to other regions, and looking at the sales numbers, the disc drive model has sold far more than the digital only model. I guess they are hoping the reduced price will help drive the market more towards digital, which sucks, and I hope doesn’t happen.
This is stunning! I especially love the moon with the PlayStation logo. Would be cool if Sony reopened their retail stores and had this type of experience as permanent fixtures.

I may not always agree with Pachter, but he’s absolutely right about this and it’s what a lot of us have been thinking for many years.

That’s so beautifully said and something I’ve always felt. “An experience for a certain time of your life.”
