@DonJorginho it is a good deal adjusting for inflation. Even the base PS5 is a good deal adjusting for inflation. People can mock this sentiment all they want but gaming hasn’t increased so much over the past two decades compared to other industries. Hobbies cost money and the best toys for any hobby cost money. No one is forcing anyone to buy a pro or a very expensive GPU just so they can run a game well and please FPS foundry!

@breakneck yea exactly. The base PS5 will still be sold so folks can get what they please. As long as they still optimize games all will be okay for the base systems. Performance or fidelity works for most.

I knew it would be pricy just not that much without a disc drive haha. Glad the press photo confirms that the disc drive can be bought. I'll still be picking one up.

@Jireland92 there is plenty of reasons to get a console. A 700$ PC is very mid. The thing is people don't have to get the PS5 pro. Just like one doesn't have to get an $400+ GPU. It just depends on what one cares about.

@StrickenBiged even so Ubisoft is making many of its games with an online requirement. Basically lowkey pushing everyone to a subscription. Similar to Microsoft whom claims physical media is supported by them. Yet many of their first party games are digital only as of late and those that do release physically just have a disc with a code. So basically physical owner like myself will never own whatever the base level patch is for the game when it was pressed to the disc. Then Microsoft will have the audacity to claim falling physical media sells lol. I digress I don’t trust any of these corporations. Yes I didn’t read the whole interview but the actions that corporation have told me all I need to know. Words from suit types of a corporation cannot be taken at face value.

@McTwist yes I’m glad that consumers are voting with their wallets and punishing these corporations whom become so arrogant. Well the shareholders I mean mostly.

@Northern_munkey personally DEI should be dropped for the whole entertainment industry. Let creativity flourish. Let new IPs become popular organically. Of course not everything will be popular but such is art.

@PerpetualBoredom I’m just stating the obvious mate. People would cry if they kept prices the same and fired more people as a result. Everything else has gone up in life that matters. The gaming industry has not really increased in price despite being a hobby. Prices of games and consoles have not kept up with inflation. The boot reference isn’t necessary here as like I said gaming is a hobby.

@MrPeanutbutterz that’s because the cell engine had a lot of leg room as a bespoke design. The learning curve was steep so it took time for developers to learn to use it. These current consoles not so much as they are cheaper.

@Foxx_64740 it does go to the employees mate even if indirectly. As like I said running costs go up. And most employees receive between 1-5% merit increase each year. Or perhaps they keep prices the same each year and fire more people each year to keep up with running costs.

Well if they go private, they should drop the modernist (DEI) approach. Then go back to just making games. It will be tough as they told us we shouldn’t be comfortable owning our games and have burned many bridges. I don’t feel sorry for the Ubisoft entity.

To be expected as everything else has gone up in price. Its called inflation. The people that work at Sony also want higher compensation and Sony has bills to pay too. The biggest voting bases don't learn and will continue to vote for people that enable inflation more. Its a vicious cycle with no overnight fix. Lastly gaming is a vanity hobby.

@ZeD Well the people that work for Sony also want raises to go along with inflation for life expenses. Also Sony as an entity has bills to pay like property tax, electricity, etc...

I'll get it because with the way things are going. The best exclusive PlayStation games will come out when the PS6 pro comes out if Sony doesn't change course. So PS5 Pro will be good for at least 7 more years. The PS5 pro's rumored specs are what the PS5 should have had a launch. Hopefully the PS6 is launched as a powerhouse and is expensive to make and expensive to buy. So no pro needed for the whole console cycle. No matter how much people will complain about the cost up front. Consoles used to be this way when they were more bespoke.

@Fizza Not a powerhouse enough as it cannot run last generations the Witcher 3 at very high settings at 60 FPS. Nor can it run last generations cyberpunk at 60 FPS at high settings. Same for series X. Its not a powerhouse in the way that previous more bespoke systems were for their time, like the Xbox 360 and PS3.

@rick1987 GTA6 wouldn’t have to struggle if rockstar reduced the graphical fidelity. Assuming there is an issue. All games that struggle are on developers not reducing their vision for any said hardware.

Maybe they will have something else more special to reveal. Like native emulation for all generations of PlayStation for those that have physical copies! Or better yet remasters that many of us want from the PS3 and earlier generations. Such wishful thinking I know.

Ubisofts stock value continues to dwindle. I’ll be curious what the sells numbers are as people claimed pre-orders were pathetic. Guess the knock off hans doesn’t appeal so wide. The stars wars IP cannot attract on that name alone anymore. DEIsney and game developers have to make compelling products and storylines. Anyways the market speaks and if the majority think something is okay then that’s the perception. Besides ubisoft should be comfortable with not getting gamers money since they said they should be comfortable with not owning their games.

I really don’t understand the backlash even if Sony assisted even if through money. A studio is free to do with their IP as they please as well as interact with another corporate entity as they please. Even if that means exclusive deals which I don’t see the problem with. All companies do this.

Lol! I would have thought the modern audience would have showed up to support this game. Despite this type of game being in a crowded sphere. I'd say I feel sorry but people willingly worked on this and couldn't read the market.

I’m not surprised at all. People were roasting this on various social media platforms since it was announced.

@Max_the_German they did give it an identity mate. It just didn’t click with the main audience.

Depends on the type of game as not all games are equal. I always thought it was odd that games fighting games like tekken cost the same as a long RPG like Skyrim. I have no problem paying a high price for a quality and lengthy story driven game like the Witcher 3. But overall the cost of consoles and new games haven’t kept up with inflation like every other industry. The gaming hobby has remained mostly the same. But the backend costs have gone up for companies a part of this industry. No matter what the prices are. Gaming provides more entertainment hours per purchase than a movie per se.

@SlipperyFish as you know PC gaming is less optimized which is why consoles can look similar with less strength available. 1080p isn't bad with upscaling technology. The casual gamer won't really care unless the FPS foundry makes a deal out it. As long as a game is smooth is all that matters IMO. A series X is available if an xbox gamer wants a higher pixel count or better graphics.

@Zeke68 sorry I didn't explain it well! I meant that a digital code comes in the box as an insert along with the physical disks. This is common for the market I buy from.

@RagnarLothbrok it’s just laziness on the developers part in not wanting to develop for another SOC of the same family. Although this SOC is the same as it’s bigger brother but just weaker in raw graphical theoretical processing power. It would be different if the Series X was bespoke and the series s bespoke with different architectures.

@KundaliniRising333 if a game can run on the series X it can run on a series s. It’s just a matter of tuning the game to a lower setting. This game came out on PC so the developer has experience with making a game with minimal hardware requirements in mind. All of the negativity surrounding the series s is just laziness on the developers part. In the old days the consoles were more bespoke. Developers had a bigger learning curve. The problem is now, Xbox isn’t near PS in terms of units in the field. But the numbers aren’t small enough to ignore IMO. I fell bad a little for Xbox. Since PS5 is now the lead platform for developers. And it has been said that the series x power advantage isn’t a big deal. I think even FPS foundry even said so and praised the PS5. Yet I remember last generation Xbox one always getting roasted for being down on power in which the PS4 was more powerful and the lead console. And always was better in comparisons. So to sum it up, it really all comes down to developers. And they have shown they don’t really care for an optimized Xbox port as a whole. Since the series x is more powerful it can brute force its way, thus making the series s more annoying for developers.

I doubt Sony would waste money doing this especially since they are in the lead hardware wise against Xbox. Xbox has been poorly ran for a decade now so Sony has time to get itself together but they are running on previous prestige. Even if they did do it so what. It’s not like they have been on a major buying spree since they don’t have the money like their competitor.

@IOI Its not my type of game but I think it will be successful. I think its good for sony to have more of these "nintendo" like games on PlayStation. Plus judging by how we are all starved for exclusive PS5 content, I think it will sell reasonably well. But who knows what Sony has in mind as far as what good sells means for this title.

@Zeke68 Yea silly choice on your friends part. Besides when one buys a new blu-ray or 4k UHD there is often a digital code included in the box! And its not like the stand alone digital version is significantly cheaper for any movie. So why not buy physical and have all formats. Plus the physical copy can never be censored. Same for physical books. And most importantly all one needs is the physical medium for the physical content then it will always be available. No going through logins down the line if the account still exists.

@dskatter well if Sony stuck with the bespoke cell engine for the PlayStation brand, PS3 wouldn't be stuck. Instead we got a cheaper and less impressive for present time "off the shelf" SOC for the PS4 and PS5. And to them it hasn't been worth it to really develop a native emulator that could brute force its way through PS3 games if one has a disc. Instead they prefer the half baked solution.

@Zeke68 Yup. I still buy blu-rays. Home theater is the only way I watch movies as I have a good system. If I'm lucky the movie I want comes on 4k UHD which isn't always the case. I refuse to accept "digital" based end user agreement ownership for the console space.

If there is no disc drive or the option to add the detachable disc drive, I will not be buying this as I had planned to. As I only buy discs for console games due to longevity as I hang on to consoles. Plus, I won't be able to play the disc PlayStation games I presently own. I refuse to "buy" AA and above digital console games.

@DETfaninATL specialized software or in other words AI is relatively new. AI wouldn’t help this game. AI codecs or software need copious amounts of data to assist with procedural generation. The pathetic player count for this game wouldn’t help create a good AI in which human players wouldn’t it. Now a game like COD with several years of data could help. However as far as I’m aware developers don’t have a “black” box to track our inputs when we play these games then steal it. Like every AI steals data that was already stolen (collected) by companies like google. But why would you want that mate? Paying to play online with bots? The masses would reject it but some would be okay. Just like some sign up for AI GF services.

@dskatter why sad? I liked those old days of PlayStation mostly being the place to play more serious eastern console games that weren’t Nintendo.

We shall see. I still prefer CIV 5 because of the excellent mod support. The idea of changing civs is odd to me. As that is not how things work throughout the ages. I know it’s a fantasy though. But ancient Egypt is well before the Songhai empire which is sub Sahara. Doesn’t make sense to me.

I’ll definitely be getting this PS5 pro. As when the PS6 comes out, The first five years of PS6 will be gross generation most likely. So i figure the pro will give me plenty of headway as I highly doubt PS6 will have exclusive next generation content upfront.

With more advertising to a wider modern audience I’m sure it can bring more players haha. Funny seeing this game on my FB ads and people roasting it. It is what it is.

Seriously, the F2P market being crowded isn’t the full reason that this game has failed.

Good for them! I support non-gelded developers! Hopefully more eastern content can come to the world market.

@ashipaw yup that’s the narrative in the Anglo realm. Which is why they have to ruin established IPs from yesteryear. Has been this way for a few decades. Fortunately east Asia and the rest of the world isn’t gelded. I hope to see more games from more corners of the world. As everyone has some interesting stories.

They just need to market it more to further reach out to the modern audience! I’m sure that will work haha.

@Rich33 many families that make up a large percentage of the console base aren’t going to switch to PC. PC gaming is still a niche market unlike the rest of gaming avenues. The only threat from the PC arena that could sway console gamers is the portable PCs or decks. Even so every deck owner I talked too is a typical PC guy in the know. Never have I encountered a gamer from the normal pool so to speak whom has one of those decks. To sum it up consoles will be fine. Console games going to PC is just a way for Sony to make more money while not messing up their console sells unlike Microsoft.

Nice! I'd like to see more eastern developers make games. As they don't cater to "modern audiences" for their entertainment.

@Drago201 PC isn’t a direct competitor for the console space and likely never will be. Many families aren’t going to invest in a gaming PC when there are other needs. Console games going to PC doesn’t mess up prospective console sells.

Yes the industry is changing indeed mate. Just not everyone will be so liberal with their IPs like Xbox under software rich Microsoft. Sony and Nintendo will manage their IPs better because they need people to buy into their hardware ecosystem. As if both companies don’t turn a profit on gaming they won’t survive. Nintendo is fully gaming and based in the vanity entertainment industry. Sony to some extent as well but profit margins for other Sony divisions are nothing like a software company. So PlayStation must have a reason for existing.

Maybe PC will attract more players. But I highly doubt it. There are plenty of games like this to play on PC. Or maybe the modern audience is bigger on PC than it is consoles and I'm solely mistaken haha!

Concord will still fail with its gross characters and lackluster player counts for the betas. Perhaps I'm wrong and the modern audience for concord will step up for this game!
