Re: Tencent, Guillemot Family Reportedly Considering Ubisoft Buyout

Vaako007

If they go private. They need get rid of their DEI modernist culture within and only bring mates in based on merit. As it’s clear that most talented blokes have left due to them having to outsource development for such a large company. In fact many gaming studios need to do this in the realm. Go back to just making games desirable to their respective fans and not trying to interweave modernist ideals of the hour into established IPs. New IPs it’s okay but they always fail which shows there is no organic demand. Anyways I truly don’t feel sorry for Ubisoft as they mismanaged and insulted their paying customers.

Recently I saw this video on YT comparing the concord development and Killzone 2 development. The old culture of G games was cool with cool mates and was how the gaming industry used to be from the beginning. Contrast this to the concord team whose ethos is present day and so many other studios embody the current days ethos in the realm. So Ubisoft won’t magically be better going private.

Re: Insider Report Adds Context to Assassin's Creed Shadows' Big Delay

Vaako007

@1UP-HUSKY he was a real person. Just not a samurai according to the Japanese. He was just a sword bearer also according to them from what I gathered. And sword bearer didn’t necessarily mean warrior either. I believe it was a westerner whom relatively recently wrote about this person. And he took artistic liberty to jazz up the real person it seemed, which is where the backlash seems to stem from.

Re: Insider Report Adds Context to Assassin's Creed Shadows' Big Delay

Vaako007

The character the main protagonist was based on was never a Samurai, just a sword bearer according to Japanese sources. Which meant during those times carrying gear for a lord. I think Ubisoft became a victim to the author that wrote about this foreigner Samurai as if his material was source material and the truth. And Ubisoft just went with it of course as it supports their narrative. So it’s understandable the backlash against this game. As they didn’t have to go along with it but could have made it with a character from that cultural group. It’s the goal of the Antichrist brigade to normalize and force all cultures into one global culture.
It seems that Ubisoft may not make it out of this generation intact with so many failures as of late. Good thing for the consumers in the gaming industry. As companies will be forced to make good products and stop infusing the “message” into games.

Re: Underperforming XDefiant Pours More Misery on Embattled Publisher Ubisoft

Vaako007

@get2sammyb blame the cough era for production costs. As almost all semi conductors are made in China and Taiwan. Plants shut down but demand for chips increased throughout the cough era. So there is still a lag. So yes these cheap SOCs for the consoles could be made cheaper as they are old, however Sony, Nintendo, and microsoft need to pay for their production lines. Which have gone up in cost. Also new production methods for chips are being introduced recently. And the tools that make them are super super expensive. So consumers of chip manufacturers have to pay the cost. Going forward we cannot expect to see any serious reduction in costs for consoles throughout its generation. Unless the west actually gets serious about challenging east asia in semiconductor production.

Re: Newly Signed Law May Restrict Sony's Use of Terms Like 'Buy' or 'Purchase' for Digital Games

Vaako007

This is a very good thing for every consumer no matter if they are into digital or physical media. Every country in the west needs these types of laws. The only protest against these types of measures are from lifeless corporate entities whom want everyone to be locked into their servers forever. So that they can control the narrative with their ecosystems. This is not just a Sony thing but every company is doing this. Again a complete win and I hope that it is further expanded. As this will allow digital owners to store their games on blank blu-ray discs or their own physical storage systems. So whenever in the future someone down the line in their families wants to play an old game. All they have to do is retrieve their created physical image.

Re: Newly Signed Law May Restrict Sony's Use of Terms Like 'Buy' or 'Purchase' for Digital Games

Vaako007

@RoomWithaMoose its a start mate. California recently enacted a consumer digital rights act similar to what the EU has. Both laws protect consumers digital privacy. They don't go far enough yet IMO. But if they existed decades ago. Companies like google wouldn't be fifthly rich off of you and I's data. In which they have been invasive for decades selling off information. I digress. As a physical media owner for all types of content this is still a win for us physical owners too. As like you said there should be provisions in place if digital consumers want to download their Game to their own hard drive (or SSD) or to a blank blu-ray disc.

Re: Ghost of Yotei Is the Ghost of Tsushima Sequel We Needed, Slashing to PS5 in 2025

Vaako007

@Rambo-kind gamers whom are mostly men like female characters whom are attractive by worldly standards especially for fantasy games. Have since the beginning. Like you said men don’t like the loud and in charge characters that the Anglo world loves to produce. For somewhat historical period pieces the blokes including myself don’t like the infusion of modern practices into something that is supposed to be a period piece. The reality is that throughout the ages war has almost exclusively been the province of men. Even today only men are required to fight when things get rough despite equality under the law. Japanese history has so many warriors stories that could be told whom are blokes.

Re: Scalpers Want $10k to Try to Buy You a 30th Anniversary PS5 Pro

Vaako007

@Lexluther23 the pro will be used longer than a year or two. As many will use it will into the PS6 launch. Judging by how the PS4 is still relevant. Unless Sony completely changes the mindset for PS6 and does not cross gen games which I truly hope for. Then I think your estimate would be correct.

Re: Scalpers Want $10k to Try to Buy You a 30th Anniversary PS5 Pro

Vaako007

@Malaise i vehemently disagree. Governments are already so large. We don’t need the biggest voting base deciding what we can buy. Responsibility and accountability comes with being an adult. From a legal standpoint these scalpers are just offering a middleman or consulting service. With your proposal, therapists/psychologists should be banned too since they cannot guarantee to fix anyone’s problems.

Re: Rumour: PS6 Could Span a Console and Handheld Device

Vaako007

@NEStalgia I always get roasted for this but I believe they need to spend the money again to make a real bespoke console. One that has enough overhead to last 8 years. Yes this is a pricey strategy. But it’s needed to avoid these weak sauce SOCs that have been the PS4 and PS5. So no pros for a console generation. Early adopters would just pay a higher price like usual but make the games that showcase the potential of a new stronger platform that aren’t cross generation. Then people will adopt them. Either way I’ll still be a console gamer as there are just certain games I want to play in front of a big TV instead of a monitor.

It’s up to the consumer to educate himself. My dad always told us to do our research. And many premium electronic brands do provide more measurable value through metrics compared to a normal brand, beyond just a name. I’m really into audio and good equipment does provide value. Of course one can go down a rabbit hole and keep upgrading. As past a certain point one has to decide if the gains are worth it.

Re: Rumour: PS6 Could Span a Console and Handheld Device

Vaako007

@SilentBluntman yes Sony makes good products. Their TVs for example hold their own in this competitive industry. My dad has a cool stereo system that he bought in the 90s that still works. In the 90s and early 2000s it was common for laser disc drives to go out. As the technology was still new and the laser wasn’t constantly in read mode. DVD players during the time had these issues as well. Compound this with the fact that consoles are cheap for what they are bringing to the table. PS1 and PS2 especially.

Re: Rumour: PS6 Could Span a Console and Handheld Device

Vaako007

@jrt87 im saying the pro isn’t a cash grab because its just a higher trim of an existing product. In which there is a market for. Don’t forget the goal of any business is to make money no matter the industry. And Sony isnt a nonprofit agency. They are a hardware company at heart. Sure the LE pro has a stronger argument for cash grab as they are using nostalgia to lure people. But it’s an anniversary edition for the brand. Every brand does this. Every brand has super fans whom place immense value on these special editions. Not a problem for what people want to spend their money on. Again a base PS5 is still being mass produced.

Re: 30th Anniversary PS5 Slim, DualSense Prices Leaked

Vaako007

@jrt87 they are barely making any of the LE pros. So they can get away with it. As there are millions of PS fans. This is what a true special edition looks like. More exclusive. Which will make the value very high for those whom like to collect things.

Re: Rumour: PS6 Could Span a Console and Handheld Device

Vaako007

@NEStalgia the pro is no more a cash grab than PC GPUs coming out so often. Just so people can have more pixels and graphical fidelity via brute force since PC needs it. And many justify their purchase by showing that current or old game x can run at 1,000 fps. The pro is for those that want newer tech that is more flashy. The console market is just following the phone and PC market. I see no problem here. And of course they are into the development cycle of the PS6. That’s just how R&D works. Still years away.

Sonys electronics are expensive because they are good and quality. Their TVs especially. Sony is a premium electronic brand. But there are plenty of normal brands like vizio and insert Chinese brand here. Luxury lifestyle examples for electronics are McIntosh, Bang and Olufsen.

PS brand does have prestige worldwide. With prestige a brand can lure people in on name alone. And this is what the PS has. Sure we can all protest about how it’s being ran now. But I’m confident the Japanese will turn it around.

Re: Rumour: PS6 Could Span a Console and Handheld Device

Vaako007

@thefourfoldroot1 developers hold the series s back mate. People need to stop repeating that as that isn’t how development works. Series s is current generation with “current” console tech. The reality is that this generation was/is held back by the Xbox one and PS4.

Re: PS5's Commanding Console Position Is Seemingly Insurmountable

Vaako007

@trev666 for the games that Nintendo makes less raw power is okay. The trend that Sony and Microsoft set is more power the past two decades. Allowing for more ambitious console titles. And fans of the PS and Xbox expect these games each generation. I like Nintendo and I’m not hating on them. But Sony and MS suddenly going to underpowered systems for the present day would be a negative for them. Of course optimization play a big role but power is power.

Re: Sony Priming 'Even Less Exciting' PS5 Remaster for State of Play

Vaako007

I wish Sony should give more love to its other IPs which didn't make it past the PS3 generation. Spend the money to modernize those to fill this void of lack of bespoke PS5 games for this current generation. Horizon was fine when it launched on the PS4. It was a great tech demo from very competent Guerilla.

Re: PS5's Astro Bot the USA's Second Best-Selling Game in Its First Week

Vaako007

I don’t know why people were expecting this game to be a huge hit among the PlayStation base. PlayStation and Xbox tend to have a more “serious” console base. Meaning less people interested in the Nintendo style of games. For the record I’m not hating on these types of games at all as there is a market for them too. Just not so big on PS. I guess people thought the drought of first party games would lead people to buy this just because of PS studios on the box. Little big planet was the same despite it also being a good game series.

Re: PS6 Is Already Deep in Development, Backwards Compatibility of High Importance

Vaako007

Hopefully the next consoles have an impressive CPU. As I expect games to become more CPU intensive. Especially if specialized procedural generation is used to supplement gameplay (AI). The next xbox is rumored to be impressive and launch first. The next generation of consoles needs to launch as powerhouses with a lot of head room for years to come. Especially as more people have 4K tvs at home.

Re: PS6 Is Already Deep in Development, Backwards Compatibility of High Importance

Vaako007

@Rob3008 We aren't at peak technology for the consoles. Will likely never be anymore. As the cost that consumers are willing to pay is the biggest bottleneck. As people seriously don't understand how much raw power is needed to go from HD to 4K, even for the same graphics or game so to speak. Couple that with the fact that people expect games to look better too.

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows' Japan Looks Stunning in New Open World Showcase

Vaako007

@Bamila i have a feeling it will fail. Rumors are that pre-orders have been lower than expected at retailers. I don’t feel sorry for Ubisoft as they messed themselves up these past few years. Now I do have sympathy for the backlash against the main character. As Ubisoft was a victim to the false information on the person in real life. I read that the Japanese people said that person was real but never was a samurai but merely a sword bearer. Which means just carrying equipment for a lord during those times. But even before this game was announce. I remember seeing information on the internet about this samurai with a darker skin texture package. And i thought okay that’s interesting and thought nothing of it. Turned out it wasn’t accurate. Revisionist history is never good for anyone IMO. Sorry I digress.

Re: PS5 Pro Probably Won't Run GTA 6 at 4K 60FPS, Tech Expert Claims

Vaako007

@OldGamer999 Hopefully the next generations of consoles don't have weak sauce CPUs. They will need strong beefy CPUs and developers will need to fully embrace multicore games. As graphics are good now but the next evolution of games is more advanced in game features in which AI can enhance. This will require more CPU power.
