The reason why casuals choose Playstation over Xbox is because Microsoft does a horrible job in marketing it's console. I'm from Europe and the last time i've seen an Xbox commercial was in 2010.

Meanwhile, Playstation ads are on every Champions League game.

Xbox is non existent here and has been for over a decade.

It sucks because this wasn't an issue with Unreal Engine 3 and prior Direct X versions.

In the past, you could power through by buying more powerful hardware, no matter how bad the PC port was.

Not possible with shader stutter. Not even a 4090 is spared from this.

It's Unreal Engine 4 and 5.

Other engines can have it too but it's primarily on Unreal Engine.

Problem is, a ton of games run on that engine, lol.

I know it's easy to get into. I used to play in the late 90's and 00's when PC gaming was an actual pain in the ass.

My main issue these days is shader stutter.

What's the point of spending 500-600€ on a GPU only to get shader issues which aren't even fixable by the end user?

Bad PC ports have always been a thing but shader stutter is a recent issue.

According to Chris Ding, the game is now the fastest selling platformer outside of Mario in the UK. Yes, bigger than Kirby, Sonic, Yoshi etc.

Astro sales are 21% higher in the UK than Rift Apart. So it's not doing bad at all. The first report only tracked 2 days of sales.

Steam concurrent players are still as high as always and console players aren't even affected by this. They'll obviously lose players but i wouln't say it's killed. Even if every single PC player stops playing, they'll still have the console audience.

This isn't anywhere near PS3 levels of brand damage lol. This has nothing to do with their console business and Sony's PC fanbase is miniscule.. The worst that can happen here is less PC ports.

Or basically every PC game from EA, Ubisoft, Activision, Microsoft, R* and the list goes on and on, lol. You have to create an account and install their launchers even if you buy and launch the game through Steam.

People always find something to complain about.

A PSN account takes a couple of minutes to create and is free. Pretty much every big publisher requires you to create one of their useless acounts and link it to Steam or PSN and nobody cares. Why now all of a sudden? The Steam page even says since day 1 that a PSN account is required to play.

The outcry over this is even dumber than the Stellar Blade petition, lol.

I'm against censorship in general but this is embarrassing. Based of the reactions, you'd think they've put the character in a burka. Even with the minor changes on a couple of outfits, the game still is far more explicit than anything else out there (not counting actual hentai games on Steam) Those people are no better than the banshees on Twitter.

Just get a PS5. It's funny how Phil, the same guy who tried to block COD from Playstation is now crying over a Sony owned first party IP not coming to Xbox.

Same in Germany. Haven't seen an Xbox commercial since like 2008 but Xbox has never been big to begin with here. Meanwhile, PS and Nintendo are everywhere. Store shelfs are also only a fraction of Playstation in most stores. It's pretty bad and i bet it's the same for most of Europe.

I mean, of course. Why would a PS5 owner care about a Slim revision? The Pro is much more interesting.

Switch slowing down is expected but Xbox dropping 35% with Starfield (and Forza)? Ouch. I think, even COD exclusivity wouldn't really move the needle for Xbox hardware in Europe.

Playstation selling as much as it does during a relatively dry first party year is crazy.

FF14 is 10 years old.

MS tried to partner up with Square in 2019 and it didn't lead to anything except some old FF ports for Gamepass and Kingdom Hearts 3.

You're right about the PS5 version but Like a Dragon was available on PS4 at launch. This article is about full Xbox exclusivity and i don't see that happening.
