Re: Reaction: Sony's Storefront Closures Put PS5, PS4 Backwards Compatibility Efforts Back in Focus

This absolutely is cataclysmic for games as art. So much content – full games and add-ons – are still exclusive to these systems, but rather than throw some of their opulence at respecting decades of legacy content, countless developers’ works, Jim “who would play this?” Ryan would rather slash and burn to purely profit. This is a blow to games as art and cultural cataloguing, only mitigated by pirates who are doing the morally correct work of ensuring future generations can access this trove of gaming history.

I’ve been thoroughly disillusioned against Sony over this, finally jostled to stop caring so much about playing any given game specifically on PlayStation. Past NieR RepliCant, I doubt I’ll look to PlayStation in particular anymore, and fall back on PC gaming, where my friends mostly are, and where I can more readily rely on availability and playability, whether through legal means or not. This is going to be an exhausting few months sussing out what is still bound to the systems Sony has all but abandoned, and it straight pisses me off that a company so integral to the history of this industry is singly throwing this all away. At least Nintendo had the excuse of relying on an external service for the Wii Shop, but PlayStation? Purely the negligent aims of profits over passions.

Re: Tales from the Borderlands Returns to PlayStation Store Today, Backwards Compatible on PS5

What's strange is, while the original TftB is just as downloadable and playable from my PS4 library as ever, the PS Store marks this relisting at full price, as an entirely separate app, with no apparent discount for prior owners. While functionally nothing's changed (I'd hope), this still feels odd and may serve to confuse players who may've forgotten their prior purchase, or who for some reason might go to the Store to redownload things.

"More meat on its bones"? After some restructuring behind the scenes, the SEASON 1 PASS has been announced, and its first of five new characters has arrived in the PC/Mac/Linux version.

Re: Another Indie Dev Suggests Sony's Denying PS Store Sale Requests

Why Sony's so dead set on mucking up usability of the PS Store is beyond me. I'm miffed enough of removing PS3/PSP/Vita games' access through the web browser, but even hitting modern releases?

Could they just hire a team of contractors, made up of the folks who've released third-party services like PSDLE and PSPrices, to just clean up their decade-old mess for posterity?

This is absolutely garbage. Not even a year ago, I installed an SSD into my PS3, and have my Vita and PSTV set up. All their onboard Stores (especially PS3's "updated" one) are a hassle to use, so the web store and the PSDLE Chrome add-on have been a blessing to managing the thousands of items in my download list, and websites like PSPrices have made it simple to keep up with the scant sales that still occur.
