Re: Talking Point: Why Are Fall's Biggest Blockbusters Flopping?

I don't think Titanfall 2 deserved to flop like it did, for one, that seems a very fun (although I haven't played it so I can't make an ultimate judgement on that) and it was a little stuck in between Battlefield 1 and Infinite Warfare, and so was a little forgotten. In terms of the others, I honestly think they look boring, and done before, and so forgettable, and nothing special, like maybe they would have been a few years ago. Horizon, Breath of the Wild and The Last Guardian look like more refreshing hits though.

Sad thing is, the games industry revolves around the money, so they will stick to the formula that has given them the most success and profit in the last few years, so not a lot of game developers will be brave enough to step out of the box and make something different to take that risk to refresh the business. I think it's just a case now that we've all been playing games like Call of Duty (shooter) and Watch Dogs (open-worlder) for years now, and they don't appear as excited as they once did, so at least some of them are bound to be flops for that reason.

PS3 was a brilliant console, had a great selection of exclusives and third-party games, probably the best games library of any console I've owned, actually. Ratchet & Clank Future Trilogy, Ni No Kuni, Soulcalibur IV, Sonic Generations, Motorstorm, LittleBigPlanet, etc. Never played Uncharted, Resistance, Metal Gear IV or Last of Us, though, which I will get onto eventually.

It's a shame about this game. Some people are enjoying it quite a lot though despite its flaws. Does look like a good old fashioned open-worlder.
