Re: Don't Worry, Sony's Most Recognisable Studios Are Still Focused on Single Player PS5 Games

Sacrosanctus

Yeah I do worry, because for example Naughty Dog were shifted into the live service scene, then they dropped it after years of development to the point where we may not see a tentpole single-player game from them in years, I guess the end of this gen at the earliest.

Moving on to the others: Guerilla, Santa Monica and Insomniac released their tentpole games not that long ago, so we're really left with Sucker Punch releasing their safe sequel to Ghost of Tsushima by the end of 2025. I expect something like how GoW: Ragnarok, HFW or Spooder-Man 2 were, not really moving the needle by much or be as impactful compared to the first installment (in the case of GoW I mean the 2018 game).

Rant over.

@Shstrick I will also add Diablo 4 (say what you will but it had enormous hype and huge player base at start), Re:4 Remake, Lies of P and the massive 2.0 update and Phantom Liberty DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 if we count releases up until September (as you mentioned Starfield). All in all, yes it had no room to breath and to no one's surprise it flew under everyone's radar.

Re: Hogwarts Legacy Conjures a Staggering 22 Million Sales

I loved the game, personally I would rank it 3rd best game of the year after BG3 and FFXVI. I don't think I want a sequel though, as it would most likely be more of the same. I think of HFW, God of War Ragnarok or Spider-Man 2 compared to their first installment. I would instead prefer one or two DLCs, could be a small and a big one, something like FFXVI is doing, or even a single one, something in the length of Phantom Liberty.
