Like xbl, been there since day 1. I had a 1 day gap last year when I was going to cancel and they offered me a low price. This year will probably be my last regardless of price simply because I dont use it. Still think it has great value for people with more time or who are more social, but for me I can count on one hand how many minutes in 2025 ive logged into ps+ games or used online features.

Too beautiful? In my experience most asians just use beauty filter on every photo. The skin isnt nearly as blemish free as he insinuates.

Note that my experience is 16 years in japan, hk, and china as well as being married to an asian and having mixed children. I love asia and its people, but the idea that they cant be reflected in media without it feeling like cgi is silly.

I preordered the collectors edition day 1. I dont normally buy collectors editions, but this year i bought my first 2 in death stranding 2 and this.

Im confused as to how people are gaining any value from having over 20 games on a wishlist, let alone 100 or 200.

I use my wishlist to flag games I have a strong interest in playing but no interest in paying full price or upcoming titles i want to buy. I cant recall ever going over 10 on a platform.

If it gets too big it becomes convoluted and the odds of me buying anything are slim to none making it useless. I will often prune games ive lost interest in aa well. Only so much time in a day to play.

All that said, always interesting to see how others use these features.

Been a premium sub since it launched, but thatll change this year. I dont play online and I cant recall the last ps plus game i played more than a few minutes.

Its certainly a value if you use it, but otherwise its kinda meh.

Additionally, for me, they are adding things like sony core or whatever the movie thing is called, but those films are already on other services. It feels like they keep reducing quality titles as well at a time when gamepass is crushing it.(ie not last year when gp was in a rut)

I love January because horror movies are abundant. I love the silent hill games. What I didnt love was the first silent hill movie. Hopefully this one is done better because the first one was very rough. Only thing it was missing was treat williams, former king of b rate films.(RIP Treat)

Got this on switch 2, but applies here as well. This one surprised me. Not my kind of game normally, but i find myself playing it a lot. Very happy to see the continued support.

Never understood either last of us games. Ive tried so hard to get into them but they are so slow and dull(to me) Just cant get hooked. TV show was the same, 3 episodes and I couldnt take anymore.

I know so many absolutely adore the game so understand it obviously resonates with people. Just not this person.

Ive owned all the ps consoles(and hand helds), but not really a sony fan. Always preferred the others. Ps5 originally was an ornament until the portal came out, and it became a steady play for me. Then the pro came out and its become easily my favorite sony console to date. I had so many issues with the ps 1 - ps3 i didnt bother with the ps4 until the ps4 pro came out. Which was my previous favorite sony console.

All this is to say, I think sony has a good console this time around. Still not my favorite(yet, its gaining), but i play it more than any sony platform before it.

As for profit bragging, even if the numbers werent bloated, they are not something consumers should be celebrating. Shareholders, yes, customers though? Just means sony has increased there margins

I have premium but I cancel every year. They offer me original pricing and I cave, but honestly im not sure ill bite this year. I never use online and my portal is local to local only, so outside of a couple plays a year, I dont really use it.

Im not saying its not a good value though, for what it offers it can potentially be a great value. (Both essentials and premium), I just dont need it for my current lifestyle.

His statement is a bit confusing. Is he implying graphics must be cutting edge for one to have a "great experience"

To me graphics are a bonus, but not the definition of a great experience. I love my ps5 pro as much as I do my switch 2, switch oled, or series x|s. They all provide great experiences.

Im happy to see them making story easier. I actually died twice on an optional boss before I could learn his pattern. I dont want that kind of annoyance on story.

I dont mind them separating things, but at $200 for the items shown this is a ripoff.

At most were looking at 10-15$ worth of goods. I feel like they didnt even try.

So 10 added and 22 cut. Seems like sony is trying to find a new lower equilibrium count for games on service.

I think what were seeing is the effect of tighter margins. When margins shrink one of three things happens. Prices go up, benefits get cut, or both. Unfortunately this is probably the latter. And yes, artificially increasing pricing in one region will impact all others if that region is large enough.

All this to say, I dont see us getting a replacement program anytime soon.

I want this, but handing extra duties to the buffoon in chief just irks me so ill have to hold off.

Fun game so far(i was concerned with all the souls references in reviews). That said, its character designs are fugly. I was thrilled when the people were "whisked" in the prologue just because it removed the fugly. I know sandfall was going for emotional, but they got elated instead. Character art reminds me of lost odyssey, another fugly but great game.

This design I think contributes to the lack of sales in Japan, they dont like fugly character art. (Though id argue the anime style can be just as ugly)

For me its fine. I use it mostly through my portal, but occasionally on the oled its attached to. Really its just a ps5 with a dash of shiny and a better wifi adapter. Main reason im ok with it though is that it looks nicer than the ps5. Superficial, yes, but important none the less.

Would I recommend it to anyone else? If your framerate sensitive maybe (Im not), or perhaps if your like me and just like better numbers and a cleaner looking system. Otherwise, probably not.

Only 40 for the first? I put over 400 into the game, didnt beat it until 250 or so. Had too much fun building things.

Hopefully this one is similar.

I dont mind it, but i wont buy a non ds edge controller. So make one of those in a special edition.

@Medic_alert You can call it gas lighting, but many of us are fully aware and just dont care about physical ownership. I never trade in or sell, usually just throw away or give away if its not useful. Its why i went all digital.

When younger I cared a lot about "ownership", but now its just more junk I dont need to be looking at.

Once done with the mask from this one and the statue from ds2, ill probably just give them to my 9 year old or her friends to play with as I look for something else.

Collectors edition ordered. Only the second collectors edition i recall buying in 35+ years of gaming, but the mask will look good on my office desk. (The other also came this year with death stranding 2 for the same reason)

Goes back to a certain figurehead saying some kids will just have to go without toys.

@AhmadSumadi I care nothing about supporting nintendo as a brand. I just look at what im getting and how much its worth to me. How much it cost to make is also irrelevant. Will I get 8$0, $90, $100 out of mario kart? 100%. In 3 years ill still be playing it with my kids. In 3 years will I be playing any sony adventure game regardless of how good it is? No. I loved ghosts of tsushima, got a platinum in it. Havent touched it in a few years and doubt I ever will again.

Exactly. All Im really saying is its easy to understand the pricing as it is. They most likely looked at a simple profit maximization matrix and realized they could take more from the consumer to get more overall.

I hate it as much as the next guy, but its not complicated and its not so much as to alter my buying habit in any way. (Id honestly pay $100 for most nintendo games without batting an eye because of their playability and polish)

If the value wasnt there, then they will see sales decline. (Keep in mond though that sales numbers declining doesnt mean a profit decline)

Cost is based on value, which is dictated by what people are willing to pay for something.

In this instance, mario kart, a game in which the previous release sold over 55 million copies at $60, likely warrants a higher price. Ghosts of Yotei almost certainly cost more to make, but its potential audience is much smaller and if they go up too high they will likely lose more than they gain.

Also a factor with nintendo is the cost of the medium its on. A gamecard is a lot more expensive than a dvd to produce. Nintendo likely wants to keep prices for digital and physical equal, so it opted for a higher price.

Do we have to like it? Of course not. But its completely understandable. (Ill also note many games in the early 90s were 75-80usd in back then money)

In the US so these new hikes dont impact me(yet), but the last hike a couple years back where they basically doubled the price of it put it off my list. Last 2 cycles I let my ps premium sub expire and waited until the inevitable 50% off plead to stay came.(it usually comes within a day or two) Then I resub.

Thing is, Im kind of hoping it doesnt come this year as I really dont use the sub for anything anymore. (And I know, I could always just not resub, but Im too weak to resist the.....bargains!!!!)

No interest in a native portable. My portal works great and is extremely light. When they start cramming things the handhelds get too bulky like the steam deck.

The US got hit the first time, so im guessing well get tagged here too once they figure out tariffs. I imagine they want to avoid the chance of a double increase so close to each other. (ie. raise it $40 and then have to raise it again by $200 due to tariffs)

So give it time those who are upset that the US appears spared. Were going to take hit harder than anyone I imagine.

Had the lunar games day 1 on sega cd, suikoden games were day 1 on psx. Cant really count how many times ive cleared them, just that i keep going back.

As for lunar, I think i preferred the old vas, but will give these a chance. Also prefer the scd versions over the psx ones.

Oddly enough I feel the opposite. I thought it was great until from software showed up. I hate their games and this looked like more of the same. Drab, dark, and dull.

@twitchtvpat Then maybe a special ps5pro physical edition with extra special reflections patch. Im sure theyll find something to make people pay.

Bundle it, give it a shiny ps pro patch, and sell for full retail. Seems on par for sony

I have a ps pro, but play in quality mode since i dont care about framerate. Havent noticed a dip yet, so assuming it just plugs along at 30 regardless.

Really did not like bloodborne. Felt like every other souls like game to me. Chunky controls, artificial difficulty, boring plot.

That said, I do not like souls games, nor challenges in my games. So this one was never going to be on my list of fun ways to pass time. Friends who are into this style have all told me how great it is. (I played the first area, about an hour before I grew tired)

I like this, shakes things up a bit without breaking anything. 99.9% of players wont even notice the difference to be honest. Only those who are hardcore into the game will see it.

Always a good thing to me to throw off the hyper competitive core.

Not yet, picked up xenoblade on switch and really trying to not double up like I always do.

This one is a definite buy though for me. I completely skipped last years because it was done in the old style, no interest in that. The series for me got good at unity and has been excellent since minus the remakes of older ones and the aforementioned mirage. (Best = Valhalla, Worst = Black Flag)

@jberg I remember vivendi, which was a while ago. I thought I read reports of tencent trying to do so more recently, but its possible im mixing it up with a different company.

Im not sure how to feel about this. On one side, ubi has been under hostile takeover threats from tencent and others for years, something I would not want. On the other, MS has quite a few ips already built or acquired and there is no news of the studios going along with the IP, so not sure wed want them stretching themselves. EA is just evil, so ill ignore them. Ideally ubi would continue to move forward and improve, but I guess the least worst option if that isnt one would be msft buying part of the Ip. Maybe...

Every person is going to have their own opinion based on there situation. As mentioned before, I have 3 large current gen lg oleds(b,c, and g models 65" and larger) all with current gen consoles attached (ps5 pro, series consoles, multiple switches), a gaming pc with 40" monitor(that i dont actually game on), a steam deck and more.Yet all I use regularly are my switch oled, ps portal, and steam deck(exclusively for xbox remote play) I also had a dedicated samsung galaxy phone with line just for a backbone that I got prior to the portal, it just didnt click.

As a busy person with a family I just dont have time to enjoy everything else unless I sacrifice time with my kids(which will never happen) So for me, in my situation, of all the portables available I can play at home while doing other things, the portal is easily the best. Its light, looks great, and plays well.

Ill likely get an xbox portable later this year(which sounds like itll be a rebranded asus), but i doubt thatll be better than a portal. Anytime you go portable your going to lose fidelity, but thats irrelevant compared to not playing at all.

Side note: Knowledge in the tech space comment is funny. I'll leave it at that.

Im gonna get this. Loved the first game, never bought any collectors edition, have space in my home office, and always go 100% digital. So this is a solid buy.

@Haruki_NLI Id argue kids are a very safe long-term investment. I already have a daughter in her 20s and have a younger daughter in elementary(primary). It really hasnt impacted my financial state as I do well, but it does afford me the ability to avoid a nursing home longer as they will take care of me and my wife should we make it to old age.

@WildFireV6 Youve obviously never used one. Screen is better than the steam deck or switch oleds. Also, the use case is for people who have good internet connections and are ok with streaming. The fact its light weight is a huge selling point for me as I don't need or want the associated heft of onboard processing.

Agree with this article completely. I play my PS5 Pro almost exclusively through my Portal. Reasoning is directly tied to my children. (Though not related to access issues as I have 3 large oleds in my home. Its more that I like to be in a quiet uninterrupted space. )

Game looks good, but not my style. Might pick it up for my daughter and her friends though.

Side note - I realize its probably for SEO, but anyone else get bothered by the titles for multiplat games always calling out the console? Were on a PS site, only reap need to call out platform in the title is when its not the ps5....

As long as its easy to use, easy to connect to a tv, has controllers as primary input devices, and has access to gamepass i dont really care whats under the hood.

For consoles i just want to hit a controller button to power on and go. No additional steps.

I loved this game on xbox. From beginning to end it was enjoyable. One of my favorite indie games of last year to be honest, might even buy it again on ps for another playthrough.

I love my ps5pro, but, I really dont notice a difference unless i pause and look for it. And then only in limited games like harry potter.

So any update would be good.
