Infinity Nikki, unlike other gachas you may be more familiar with, is effectively an open world platformer. While there is some very minor combat, the developer acknowledged during a livestream today that the game is more about exploration and traversal. It has an ex-Breath of the Wild lead working on it.
The trick here is that the eponymous heroine’s dresses imbue her with magical powers, such as the ability to glide. And one new outfit, introduced during the aforementioned launch day livestream, will allow her to shrink.
The mechanic will instantly be familiar to Astro Bot fans, as the mouse level is one of the most memorable in the entire game. In Infinity Nikki, the protagonist will shrink and ride on the back of her pet cat, Momo, allowing you to reach previously inaccessible places. There’s even an entire level, populated by perfume bottles and makeup, built around this system.
The livestream also revealed that fans can look forward to 105 free pulls at launch, spread across the various day one events and more. You’ll obviously need to make some progress – there’ll be eight chapters at launch – to obtain all of your free gacha currency, but that’s par for the course.
Moving forward, developer Infold Games is working on a house decorating system, so you can furnish your own virtual in-game home. You’ll also be able to plot out an entire island, a little bit like the Serintea Pot in Genshin Impact, so that’s a big feature coming after launch.
You can watch the livestream above for a longer look at all of Nikki’s launch day outfits, as well as some new biomes and more. The game will launch for free on 5th December. Will you be playing?

You get in there, and you make it about Astro Bot.
Big hype for this game
My fairy wings are ready
The teaser trailer last year also showed a dress that makes her a kaiju. I don't know if that's still in the game, but it's pretty cool.
That was by far my favourite Astro Bot level.
One could think open world platformers, nay gaming, didn't exist before Astro Bot 😉
Big Big Small Land (it may have a different name, I can't remember) in Mario 64 was the best level.
What does 105 free pulls mean? Pulls of what exactly?
Free pulls. Meaning they’ll be paid pulls? It’s gambling. This could have been a great game.
@Mikey856 "What does 105 free pulls mean? Pulls of what exactly?"
"Pulls" are called "Draws" in the vid, if that helps. Beyond that, it's a free to play game, so there's a lot of exchanging earned currencies to exchange for the things you want in a random fashion akin to gambling. So the "pull" is a reference to back when slot machines in casinos had handles that you "pulled" to gamble.
For anyone put off by the 1:04 run time the vid starts around the 10 minute mark and ends at the 50 minute mark so it's closer to 40 minutes than 1 hour plus.
Looking forward to it, but I'd still like clarification that it's free to start, b/c the PSN store still only says $9.99 (US). And while $9.99 isn't a large amount of money it is still about $10 more than "free".

@rjejr
Almost every free2play game I have seen on Playstation initially has an offer for one of their founders packs or some other currency before the game comes out.
I am positive it will be free to start playing on December 5th.
@symmetrian Hey thanks for that. Only 2 I've played are Disney Speedstorm, which had a "founders pack" for about 6 months (give or take) after release before going free to play, and Zenless Zone Zero which I can't recall there being a price attached before launch and I think I was there day 1. Disney's Dream Valley (or some such) was announced as free to play and then at the last minute went pay to play.
So those are my experiences that I'm familiar with, hence my concern. I do realize it's a small sample size so thank you for the reply. 👍
I was semi interested in this until I saw FTP. I don't know, I just prefer to pay for a game and play it, no problem paying for expansion packs and so but the FTP model turns me off of 90% of games immediately.
Can’t wait to play this game the moment it releases on the 5th of December! It looks gorgeous and I love exploration / platforming!
Ive been trying to understand this "game". What exactly is it? Is it just a life sim with an anime girl? It seems like so much hype for something so....mundane.
