Oddly enough I feel the opposite. I thought it was great until from software showed up. I hate their games and this looked like more of the same. Drab, dark, and dull.
I have a ps pro, but play in quality mode since i dont care about framerate. Havent noticed a dip yet, so assuming it just plugs along at 30 regardless.
Really did not like bloodborne. Felt like every other souls like game to me. Chunky controls, artificial difficulty, boring plot.
That said, I do not like souls games, nor challenges in my games. So this one was never going to be on my list of fun ways to pass time. Friends who are into this style have all told me how great it is. (I played the first area, about an hour before I grew tired)
I like this, shakes things up a bit without breaking anything. 99.9% of players wont even notice the difference to be honest. Only those who are hardcore into the game will see it.
Always a good thing to me to throw off the hyper competitive core.
Not yet, picked up xenoblade on switch and really trying to not double up like I always do.
This one is a definite buy though for me. I completely skipped last years because it was done in the old style, no interest in that. The series for me got good at unity and has been excellent since minus the remakes of older ones and the aforementioned mirage. (Best = Valhalla, Worst = Black Flag)
@jberg I remember vivendi, which was a while ago. I thought I read reports of tencent trying to do so more recently, but its possible im mixing it up with a different company.
Im not sure how to feel about this. On one side, ubi has been under hostile takeover threats from tencent and others for years, something I would not want. On the other, MS has quite a few ips already built or acquired and there is no news of the studios going along with the IP, so not sure wed want them stretching themselves. EA is just evil, so ill ignore them. Ideally ubi would continue to move forward and improve, but I guess the least worst option if that isnt one would be msft buying part of the Ip. Maybe...
@WildFireV6 Clearly biased? Sorry, its situational.
Every person is going to have their own opinion based on there situation. As mentioned before, I have 3 large current gen lg oleds(b,c, and g models 65" and larger) all with current gen consoles attached (ps5 pro, series consoles, multiple switches), a gaming pc with 40" monitor(that i dont actually game on), a steam deck and more.Yet all I use regularly are my switch oled, ps portal, and steam deck(exclusively for xbox remote play) I also had a dedicated samsung galaxy phone with line just for a backbone that I got prior to the portal, it just didnt click.
As a busy person with a family I just dont have time to enjoy everything else unless I sacrifice time with my kids(which will never happen) So for me, in my situation, of all the portables available I can play at home while doing other things, the portal is easily the best. Its light, looks great, and plays well.
Ill likely get an xbox portable later this year(which sounds like itll be a rebranded asus), but i doubt thatll be better than a portal. Anytime you go portable your going to lose fidelity, but thats irrelevant compared to not playing at all.
Side note: Knowledge in the tech space comment is funny. I'll leave it at that.
Im gonna get this. Loved the first game, never bought any collectors edition, have space in my home office, and always go 100% digital. So this is a solid buy.
@Haruki_NLI Id argue kids are a very safe long-term investment. I already have a daughter in her 20s and have a younger daughter in elementary(primary). It really hasnt impacted my financial state as I do well, but it does afford me the ability to avoid a nursing home longer as they will take care of me and my wife should we make it to old age.
@WildFireV6 Youve obviously never used one. Screen is better than the steam deck or switch oleds. Also, the use case is for people who have good internet connections and are ok with streaming. The fact its light weight is a huge selling point for me as I don't need or want the associated heft of onboard processing.
Agree with this article completely. I play my PS5 Pro almost exclusively through my Portal. Reasoning is directly tied to my children. (Though not related to access issues as I have 3 large oleds in my home. Its more that I like to be in a quiet uninterrupted space. )
Game looks good, but not my style. Might pick it up for my daughter and her friends though.
Side note - I realize its probably for SEO, but anyone else get bothered by the titles for multiplat games always calling out the console? Were on a PS site, only reap need to call out platform in the title is when its not the ps5....
As long as its easy to use, easy to connect to a tv, has controllers as primary input devices, and has access to gamepass i dont really care whats under the hood.
For consoles i just want to hit a controller button to power on and go. No additional steps.
I loved this game on xbox. From beginning to end it was enjoyable. One of my favorite indie games of last year to be honest, might even buy it again on ps for another playthrough.
@Jireland92 Maybe Im an outlier, but I dont like any kojima game other than death stranding. The mgs games never clicked with me. DS had a rythmn to it which was soothing
First game really surprised me. Before I was done I had 500 hours into it and 100% completion. Im not a completionist and despite 40 years of gaming have fully completed under 10 games.
Needless to say im both excited and fearful for this game. I dont have the time I used to.
Having bought 7 of then over its lifespan, with 6 breaking for one reason or another, im thinking it was more of the most breakable console of all time as opposed to most popular. (360 gets a lot of flak but I only had one of those break and it was within 10 days of purchase so was replaced for free. Something none of my ps2s were)
Smart move by Sony. As an American I have actually done what I can to mitigate the threat as well by divesting all of my US investments and putting them into more stable economies. (EU/CN/HKG/Japan) I simply can't trust the US right now and thankfully am fortunate enough to have direct access to other major markets.
The sad thing is, we need more nations to stand up to us otherwise hell never learn. Im counting on the EU and China to grow a backbone and enter a full trade war, calling Trumps bluff. I just cant see the Maga Cult listening to anything other than actual pain. When walmart and amazon increase prices by 50-100%, and food becomes unaffordable, only then will they listen.
Back on topic, I expect to see other companies follow suit, but I also expect to see price increases stateside with a potential carryover to other markets.
I always buy every forza game day 1 with the complete editions on Xbox regardless of my gpu sub. Outside of Forza 5(not horizon), they have never failed me.
Despite having put hundreds of hours into horizon 5 on xbox already, I intend to do the same here and run through the game again. They are that good. Itll easily be the best racing game on ps5.
@PuppetMaster Not as much as you think. Back then production values and teams were much lower/smaller. A large team in the 90s would be a smaller to medium sized team today. Add in the efficiency gains over the past 3 decades and he could likely piece together a similar title with better production value at a relatively reasonable price and with a much smaller team.
@tangyzesty How as it annoying being on GP? It saved me money on what amounted to barely iterative releases. I loved the idea of it being on GP. Even if it hadnt benefited me(I own all platforms), Id be happy for those who did get to enjoy the game on GP.
Unless they revamp the gameplay(and visuals), ill be skipping this year. Madden and NBA2k have really upped there game recently in those areas, but MLB still feels like a launch PS4 game. I love baseball and it isnt a bad game to so to say, but I cant see myself buying it if its like the last 2 seasons. Hopefully they come out with their A game this year.
@wiiware Only if you break there t&c. If your doing that, its a just reward for breaking you end of the agreement. (By purchasing and using the console and games you are agreeing to the terms)
I stopped buying physical like 20 years ago. It was a taper though as storage and internet speeds had to catch up.
Now its so much faster to just click and dl a game than to wait for a box. (I have a 5gbs uncapped connection, so im only limited by device speeds)
The only real reasons to buy physical are a) because you collect the special editions or b) you are interested in resale. I have no interest in either scenario so digital suits me well.
I think its great that MSFT is likely releasing Starfield on PS5.
Im also of the opinion that exclusives only help hardware manufacturers, not the consumer. I am a consumer, not a manufacturer so from my perspective, the more the merrier on each platform. This puts a real choice in the hands of consumers as opposed to "I have to buy x for y and a for b"
Put the onus on the hardware manufacturer to create unique and quality features for their platform as opposed to hoarding games.
Side note: I buy all consoles and would likely do so even in a world where there were no exclusives. I like to change it up from time to time.
I remember buying this day 1 on the sega cd. Blew my mind away(lunar 1 and lunar 2). Then again a few years later with the complete editions. My only gripe is that while 2 complete was an improvement all around, part 1 complete was a step back in some areas. The plot changes in particular removed the drama and hurt the story a bit. I wish a remaster would restore the original story but retain the enhancements.
@SuntannedDuck2 Im not an avid ps fan(i prefer the xbox) nor do i have time to play a lot of games anymore. So id say normal people are buying the pro, just that there is a different level of customer that wasnt as prevalent before.
I have all of 0 physical games for my pro, 1 disk movie(john wick), and yet found myself ordering this. Arrived today, looks like crap on the pro(its not level if you lay your console flat), but atleast i dont have to think about getting a disk drive if i end up wanting a collectors edition of a game.
@Nyne11Tyme Depends on your driving habits. 99% of my driving for a day is in city and under 200 miles, so i target 300 mile range vehicles to get a buffer so i never have to charge outside of my home. My second car is always a gas or phev and when we go on trips its the go to.
Ive got an ev i paid over 80k for and its been worth every penny. (Ive another luxury gas suv as well for my wife)
I love evs not so much for cost, but for convenience and comfort. I never charge outside, just go. So no gas station visits and fewer maintenaince calls(though tires wear a lot faster)
If this turns out to actually be a solid vehicle(ie good range, quick, super quiet, high tech, and extremely comfortable) id have no issues paying 90-100k for one.
That said, there is a lot of competition for my money and the bmw, cadillac, and audi offerings are all solid. (The mercedes is too ugly, hummer akward looking)
Ive got a pro with a couple of extra tb added on for good measure, so no concerns either way. The title of the article though had me expecting 300gb or more.

Bundle it, give it a shiny ps pro patch, and sell for full retail. Seems on par for sony
