Long time lurker here, just thought I’d leave a “big picture” comment tying this news with all the recent industry upheaval news.
Which is, this is an example of “something is wrong” with an industry when a project goes on for 8 years with no finished product in sight. Very few investors are willing to allocate resources to this type of timetable, sarcasm intended, as there doesn’t even seem to be one involved.
This relates to the upheaval news, imo, in that the economics and processes involved in game production seem extremely opaque and let’s just say “not fine tuned”. There seems to be a lot of misallocated capital, e.g., this game has already spent how much money with no finished product? If and when the game is released the sales needed to support such expenditures will need to be as respectably large, which might not be realistic.
So I guess I just see this news as an example of the need (or reason behind) certain companies trying to exert some fiscal discipline.
Pardon the novice question, but how do they find themselves in this situation? Assuming they have multiples of people and consoles to test and retest before launching? Did they think folks wouldn't notice?
I mean, did they know it was junk but released anyway?
@Paranoimia... Yes, I've wondered too on why they don't discount the hardware in order to get it in your home and then make the $$ on games. Can experts comment on this?

Re: Cyberpunk 2077's Multiplayer and DLC Not the Focus, As CDPR Preps Rescue Mission
@Voltan Not to be pedantic, but they do have 'base consoles' to test on, so why the big surprise? I still don't get that they seem so surprised....

Re: PS5 Launch Is a 'Massive Challenge on Every Front'
I'm curious, why is it expected that Sony needs to release PS5 pricing weeks before launch? Let alone 10+ weeks early?
Re: Hands On: Horizon Zero Dawn PC Is a Staggering Port, And a Potential Taste of PS5
Sounds like if you loved this game, which I did, you SHOULD rush out and buy it! 😁
Re: As the PS Plus Debate Rages, Sony Registers Record Subscribers
Life is an Excel spreadsheet and I'm pretty sure Sony has this figured out. They've done a pretty good job so far.
