Re: Stellar Blade PS5 Fans Irate Over Alleged Censorship

NotoriousWhiz

@Kidfunkadelic83 There is a reason the slippery slope argument is a logical fallacy.

Most games are already censoring the characters privates. Otherwise every character would be fully nude. So based on the "slippery slope" argument, it's just a matter of time until the entire game is censored out of existence.

The reality is, there is no slippery slope. There is a line. A line that should not be crossed. As long as they don't cross that line, then there really isn't an issue. But once they do, now things definitely need to change.

Adding less cleavage to a single costume in a game with a huge amount of costumes (some with more cleavage) is not crossing that line.

Re: Rumour: Xbox Console Exclusive Starfield Is Setting a Course for PS5

@ED_209 Only reason to have exclusive content is if the content was made for that hardware and would have to be significantly changed to be made on a different hardware. Some basic examples:
PSVR games (although these are fine to also release on other VR platforms)
Nintendo games that rely on motion control (think Wii sports and similar)
Dual screen games made for the DS or Wii U.

In other words, over 99% of games do not benefit from being exclusive to any platform.

Re: Shuhei Yoshida Eyes 'Pokemon with Guns' Phenomena Palworld for PS5

This game is amazing. This game would do very well on Playstation. I would love to see innovation like this to light a fire under Game Freak. Pokemon has been stale for far too long. My own kids (who's only pokemon game has been Scarlet / Violet) have said that palworld is way better and that they probably won't be playing pokemon anymore.

Re: Analysts Anticipate a Tougher Year for Live Service As Sony Aims to Infiltrate Sector

NotoriousWhiz

@nomither6 @thefourfoldroot1 Most games in general are bad. There are a few good games that release in every year by comparison. Stating that live service games specifically are bad may not be true.

Steam recently announced that 10000 games (of all kinds) were released on Steam last year. How many of those are actually good? How many of those did well commercially?

Plus we've all seen the dumps of games that release every week on PSN and elsewhere. I can guarantee you that most people aren't paying attention to most of those games.

Re: Yet Another Live Service Game Is Shutting Down After Just One Year

NotoriousWhiz

Or we can go back to the old days, where developers released a really good multiplayer game and just let people play it for as long as they want.

Socom 2/3
Star Wars Battlefront
CounterStrike (which people still play)
Diablo 2

None of that live service garbage. Just a solid multiplayer game without the need for constant grinding, progression, and other artificial non-sense.

Anyone looking at that clip from the outside will not think it's a joke. It looks real and there is no context to imply that it's a joke or that it's supposed to be funny. Honestly, sounds like people are excited to see it happening. This is from the perspective of someone that has no clue what happened immediately prior to the shown clip.

If I didn't know that it was an optional event, I would have lost complete interest in the game.

Re: Sony Aiming for At Least Two Big PS5 Exclusives Each Year Across 'Every Major Genre'

NotoriousWhiz

Let's be real. Most of yall weren't buying their games anyway unless it had a complete single player campaign. Live service may be a four letter word, but it doesn't have to be a bad thing.

Splatoon is a live service game. Mario Kart is borderline live service. Ark is live service - ish. Mortal Kombat is borderline live service.

All of these are quality games. (Ark is arguable, but definitely has its appeal)

@Oz_Momotaro I have a family too and have been gaming since the NES. Everything seems worse on the internet. People online are very toxic and so I won't enable my kids to communicate with others online. But in the real world, no one cares about Microsoft vs Sony vs Nintendo. We're just happy to be playing games. I've got friends who mostly do Sony or Nintendo or PC or Xbox and we all get along just fine. At the various convention events I've attended, no one is putting anyone down for their choice of plastic box or spewing anti-company nonsense.
