This reads like 7 but my lunch was an 15, so this should get at least a 12. If Elden Ring was a platformer but better, it would be Sonic Superheroes Stars.

I already have this downloaded. Just waiting for tomorrow.

But in terms of this being a “new standard”, I’m not sure. I think if this was a new standard very few games would come out every year.

I really like my PS5, but one of the things that I can’t understand is this gatekeeping with proprietary accessories. I just got the AirPod Pros for 200 bucks, I’m not about to spend another 200 on buds I can only use on the PlayStation. I also have tons of Bluetooth speakers that I’m unable to connect natively to the PS5.

Bought Street Fighter 6 and looked online for a controller with a better d-pad. Nothing much under $150. I’d really like to use one of the three 8bitdo controllers I already bought, but they won’t work even with a Bluetooth dongle.

Are those people supposed to be friends or do they just forcing randos to play games with them?

@bindiana It’s a tough game but I really got invested in completing the thing, which is rare for a roguelite. The bosses will cheat and screw you over, but the game allows you to cheat back as well.

Pretty impressive for a game in the CRPG genre.

@Ralizah It’s a bit of a shame they aren’t iterating on the FF7 combat system here, as that was going somewhere interesting. This feels like Platinum Games-lite. Serviceable but doesn’t stand out.

@Panic_Attache Yeah that lock-on doesn’t work very well. I find it easier to just keep moving the camera with the right stick and play it like a Monster Hunter game.

@Ralizah If you liked FF7 Remake, you’ll like this one. It’s still very anime, over-the-top, and all the dudes look like underwear models but this time their hair isn’t blue and defying gravity.

I still don’t think Square know how to do great real-time combat but it might get more interesting later in the game.

@nessisonett You play a gruff American mechanic named John Travers. Life’s dealt you a very bad hand. Your girlfriend left you for an another mechanic and the Z-virus has all but eradicated the dating scene. All that’s left is your hot rod, a jar of Vaseline, and a large wasteland with bandit outpost. Question is will John be able to find his Judy before it’s too late?

@KundaliniRising333 With long development cycles and the money studios use to finance these projects, they can’t afford bad press. The irony is the lack of personality and streamlining the game to “popular tastes” is why they had the bad reception to begin with. 😮

The trend is DLC for FS games, improve upon the base end-game content. As it stands the final stretch (post-Leyndell areas) of Elden Ring might be the most disappointing and needlessly frustrating sections of anything in the Souls series. Hopefully this improves upon that experience which left a bad final impression.

Why spend so much time promoting this industry standard live service rubbish?

That’s awesome! But that boss fight is still some BS anyway. One of the rare moments when frustration overwhelmed fun in their games.

If it looks a lot better, I’d sell my original model and pick this one up. Great performance, but the design of the PS5 hasn’t grown on me.

@gbanas92 It’s a fascinating area. Lots of swampland with aging plantation homes nearby. I wasn’t able to appreciate the River Parishes much because I grew up there, but it definitely has a bit of desolate beauty. Will check out the game on PC.

This looks really good and has been on my radar all year. I grew up in a town just 15 miles outside Norco. We called that area “cancer alley”. There was always a horrible smell from the air pollution caused by the concentration of chemical plants near town.

At least everyone can agree that Stray was a bit balls. Fortunately PS Plus Extra has had a lot of good value since then.

Elden Ring definitely started to show its warts the more hours I put into it. Ultimately it’s way too long and unbalanced with the end bosses having insanely brief attack windows between combos. It’s still does soo much right though.

@QualityGeezer Horizon is a fine open world game in the vein of Ghost of Tsushima or a recent Assassin’s Creed but it in no way matches the ambition of Elden Ring. To each their own but Elden Ring just dwarfs it in almost every aspect besides graphics.

The dog helping you in that troll fight was one of the more funny and memorable scenes of the original game. It’s so Capcom to include Lassie as NPC assistance while a parasite plagues an entire country lol. Hope he makes a return somehow.

Looking forward to an Assassin’s Creed game is like looking forward to a list of chores. I don’t think I’ve ever been able to finish one of these games.

The score seems fair. Years down the line it will be worth playing if you liked the original.

I just don’t like what this game represents. These PlayStation studios are just not taking any risks, other than the odd eclectic Kojima release.

@4kgk2 God of War isn’t likely to create much of a stir beyond those who have already played and liked the first game. It’s a sequel to a PS4 game that felt very much like a PS3 game besides the tremendous graphics.

@DonJorginho You realize over 15 review sites have given the new Saints Row a 7 or higher right? I’m not saying it’s a good game or I’ll ever play it but I’m just going on evidence.

I’m not impressed with the PS5 controller’s durability. My first controller has drift in both sticks already and I expect the second one to have similar problems.

Ohh bummer. My impression was that this was going to be a cult management sim. It looks more like Hades and Death Door than I initially thought. Love those types of games but I’m burnt on the genre for the time being.

Haha. The highlight of the show was a Zoom chat discussing a Skate sequel it looks like they just found out about 5 minutes before this presentation.

I played TLoU for the first time several years ago and didn’t see much to it. I didn’t really identify with either Ellie or Joel, mainly because they seem ripped out of so many other post-apocalyptic survival stories. How many times have we seen the gruff “I’ve seen it all” guy’s redemption story? The villains are also kinda cartoonish and reminded me of the ridiculous bad guys in The Walking Dead.

The gameplay is also just the default stealth/cover shooter stuff we get in so many big budget games nowadays.
