@JokerBoy422 This seems a bit of an overreaction. It's a one-time pairing of a disc drive which will, for the vast majority of users, be permanently attached to the console. It'll be part of the console setup process.
I get the impression people are misinterpreting it to mean they need a connection every time they use the drive, which doesn't appear to be the case at all.
I replayed 1-4 (incl the HD Collection) on my PS3 just earlier in the year so I won't be picking this up anytime soon. They're all still great games though and they hold up well, though MGS4 was clearly pushing the PS3 past it's comfort levels as it really chugs at times.
While I can somewhat understand why the Master Collection is effectively just a re-release of the existing games (why remaster them only to then sell remakes later down the line?), it's still a real shame that a bit more effort wasn't put in, and £50 is a steep asking price as a result.
@NotSoCryptic Not always. Both the Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection on PS4 and Legacy of Thieves Collection on PS5 appear as singular titles where you then choose the specific game after launching.
I wonder if this will get pushed out as a System Feature Update, you can manually check for those in the settings. They're separate to the console software updates and seem to just install silently whenever the console is turned off or restarted.
@Hydra_Spectre PS2 backwards compatibility was removed long before the slim PS3 consoles were released. When I bought my 40GB 'fat' PS3 in early 2008 the 60GB backwards-compatible models had already been discontinued, in the UK at least.
At least they didn't go down the route other games often do of incorporating the DLC content into the base game install, which then balloons in size as a result.
Absolutely wonderful game, I recently finished it but would have probably held off had I known this was coming. If I'm not mistaken there's some DLC coming at a later date though.
@Wowzer I asked them this on Twitter too, apparently Sony requires the game listed as roomscale even though it can be played standing or sitting. The help section on their website says:
"There were some particular guidelines that we needed to comply with in order to release on PSVR2. These guidelines made it a requirement that we list the game as room scale. As long as you have enough room to stretch your arms out in front or to the side of you, you should be able to play the game without any problems. Our recommendation would be to manually set a 2x2m play area and see how you get on. The sitting and standing options are still very much present in the game, so after the play area has been set you will be able to select your preference."
@Nem That might be how other systems do it but that isn't how the process works on the PS5 at all; you've already changed what you originally said about it being installed after the files are copied. In any case, your initial comment was mistaken; a downloaded game can very much be installed more (or less) quickly than a disc-based one because it's a single process.
And yes, a system absolutely can open incomplete files while they continue to download.
@Nem No, that isn't how it works. As said, it copies from disc or downloads and installs at the same time. The only time it uses a separate install process is for game updates. You can most certainly play games before they've entirely finished installing, it's a common feature.
@FullbringIchigo Full installs are entirely necessary, hence why they were implemented on both current-gen consoles. Discs are too slow to read from, it wouldn't just increase load times but also cause huge issues with streaming data during gameplay leading to pausing, texture pop-in and other performance problems.
Flash storage is too expensive, discs are cheap to produce and distribute and you'd need a hard-drive for storing updates, DLC, downloaded titles etc so it'd serve no real benefit anyway.
A 500GB HDD is going to be plenty for most people, and if it isn't the option has been there since the start to upgrade the HDD yourself, and now there's the 1TB SKU as well. A more pertinent question is why do you really need 2TB+ of games installed at any one time?

Re: Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Really Does Load Ridiculously Quickly on PS5
@nomither6 They're in-engine cutscenes so they're not really hiding anything as all the assets are having to be loaded in anyway.
Re: Secret PS5 Update Makes It Possible to Check for Patches on Games in Your Library
@KilloWertz It is legit; see above.
Re: PS Plus Subscribers Can Get $30/£30 Off Two PS5 Products from Sony's Official Store
@ralphdibny The black ones don't seem to have been available anywhere since February, it's bizarre.
Re: Secret PS5 Update Makes It Possible to Check for Patches on Games in Your Library
Can confirm the option has appeared for me today, no restart or software update seemingly required.

@Nem Games install as they are downloaded, hence why you can start playing many games before they finish downloading or installing.

@Nem Not necessarily, on a fast fibre internet connection the game will download and install far quicker than by disc.
