Definitely not my kind of game. But that goes for the entire genre and isn't a knock against this game specifically. Seems like it's fine for those who like the genre.
I'm good with passing on this with its technical issues on PS5. I have so many other games on my backlog anyway that one less game to worry about is fine by me. Developers/publishers need to understand that gamers have an embarrassment of riches these days to choose from. And it is all too easy to find games that don't have these issues to spend our time on.
I'm definitely passing on the game if it doesn't have a 60fps mode. I have so many other games on my plate these days, that I can easily pass on the games that don't offer what should be the bare minimum these days on modern platforms. Developers of action games especially need to get their priorities straight, and 30fps (or worse, wildly unstable performance) isn't acceptable with the technology available to them in modern platforms.
This is such a scummy practice. Sega has been doing it for awhile now with their games as well. It prays on people's fomo for extra cash. And doing it with a story heavy game like this is extra scummy.
I loved loved loved this game on Switch! Can't wait to try it out on PS5 with better performance and a new story path. SMTV got its hooks in me like few games do in its original release.
Revealing a game without gameplay is always a terrible idea, so the trailer was terrible. As for the art style? It's fine. It's better than the over abundance of super realistic looking visuals these days.
I'm waiting for the Pro to even start this game. Well I should note that I did start it actually, but noped out of it after seeing how horrendous the frame rate was. One of the worst performing "AAA" releases I've seen on PS5.
It's wasn't good, but it's wasn't terrible either. Astro Bot saved it honestly. But yeah, I've come to the conclusion that most first-party Sony games have simply left me behind. They aren't for me anymore. Nearly all of my PS5 games are multiplatform games that I buy on PS5 just because I don't want the Switch versions that run like butt. The only "PC" hardware I own is my Steam Deck, which is also nowhere near as powerful as my PS5, so the PS5 has become my default multiplatform system.
This practice of announcing games too early really needs to stop. Especially when it's just a logo announcement. Metroid Prime 4 being another example of this. And that one has been 7 years since it was announced with a logo!
I didn't find it all that confusing, but I do think that the way it was presented really killed the impact of Aerith's death. Replaying the original FF7 earlier this year, and I still get emotional at that scene when it comes up, despite playing through the game many times over the years. But I was just completely untouched by it in Rebirth because of how poorly it was presented. It should have been more impactful with today's technology, but they found a way to make it less impactful in the end, which is...pretty astonishing.
Sonic multiplayer needs to be done with split screen. It's really the only way it can work in any meaningful way. The way games like Sonic 2 handled it was a fine diversion back in the day, but it never feels like true multiplayer Sonic. Just barely feeling more substantial than something like Super Mario Galaxy multiplayer with the other playing using the point to aid the "main" player.
Unfortunately, I was pretty let down by the demo. It runs really badly. In performance mode, the frame rate is all over the place. I've heard that the demo is an outdated build, so hopefully the final version will run better.

Re: Expect New, Stronger Tifa in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Sequel, Says Director
Personally, I think the game needs less mini games. Rebirth was way too bloated with so many of them.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Black Myth: Wukong?
Sadly, the PS5 version seems to have major issues, so I'm passing on it. I have enough other games on my plate anyway.
Re: 10 Years Ago, Hideo Kojima's P.T. Scared the Hell Out of Us on PS4
I can't believe it's only been 10 years since this came out. It feels like it was forever ago.
Re: Reaction: PS5 Needs a Price Cut
It definitely needs a price drop. The hardware is already 4 years old, which is old in terms of gaming technology.
Re: Mini Review: CYGNI: All Guns Blazing (PS5) - A Stunning, Short-Lived Shmup
@PacPern123 Honestly, Gradius V doesn't even need a remake since it's basically perfect looking as is. Just release an HD remaster and we're golden.
Re: Bungie Accused of Overselling Itself to Sony, Promising Success It Couldn't Deliver
I've always felt that Bungie was overrated. The Halo games are good, but nothing special in my opinion.
Re: Infinity Nikki Is the Cutesy PS5, PS4 Fashion RPG You've Been Dreaming Of
The moment I learned that this was a free-to-play title, I went from being genuinely interested in it, to less than zero interest in it.
Re: Earth Defense Force 6 (PS5) - More of the Same Insectoid Mayhem, and We Love It
So is this game related to the old Earth Defense Force game on the SNES?
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Zenless Zone Zero?
I'd give it a 5/10. Not horrible, but the gotcha grinding mechanics really drag it down.
Re: Zenless Zone Zero (PS5) - Characterful Character Action Makes for Another Gacha Great
I just can't do the grind in games like this. It's such a shame that the f2p nature of them messes with the core experience in such negative ways.
Re: GEX Trilogy Revives a Long Lost 90s Mascot on PS5, PS4
@Luigia Crash 'N Burn was my first game from Crystal Dynamics since it was the pack-in game for the 3DO!

Glad I waited! I knew it would release on other platforms eventually.

Re: PlayStation Move Wins Popsci's "Best of What's New" Award
Ironically, Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition plays better than Resident Evil 5 Move Edition. And that came out years ago. : /
I will admit that Move is the better controller, but RE5 is a horrible example.
