If it's true that Ubisoft has approximately 20k employees, then that should roughly translate to 200-ish managers. That's a lot of cooks who wants their opinion validated. When you combine that with design by committee culture, checkbox design and trend-chasing...well it's no wonder budgets balloon and projects move at a snails pace. If at all.
There's not a person alive that I would pay for access to pics/vids of them. Seems like half the planet suffer from simp-ism and the other half suffers from main character syndrome. 🤷♂️
I watch quite a lot of gameplay on youtube to make sure I make informed purchases. So in a way the number of titles I watch are larger then the ones I purchase/play. But I certainly spend a lot more time gaming then watching, if that makes sense.
I seldom watch let's plays, unless it has insightful and/or funny commentary. Many a True Nerd is such an example, his videos are always entertaining.
Almost wish I had a X account, seems like I'm missing a lot of juicy drama. 😋 But seeing how angry most of the commenters are, maybe it's best to keep ignoring it.
I'm mostly interested in gaming news, and I'm happy Push Square filters out most of the political crap and gives me factual news. Thanks guys/gals. 🏆
I spent countless hours playing the prequel Loaded, my sister BF gave it to me for free, and being a poor sob I played it non-stop for months. Even found out that as soon as the level loaded I could swap out the game disc and put in one of my music CDs and have a personal soundtrack. Spread mayhem in the game while rocking out to Rage Against The Machine. 😁
Lovely story, your mom sounds awesome. I have several treasured memories of the same sort with my own mother. She's a gamer to this day, mostly puzzle and Settlers-like games, but it's a part of our strong bond non the less.
I'd love to see a new entry in the King's Field series. Would be interesting to see the current team tackle the slow, deliberate and punishing gameplay. But seeing as the Souls-games has kind of evolved from that, I doubt it'll happen.
Or just give us something completly new to keep the creativity flowing and morale high.
Lol, I remember downloading (on lightning fast 56 kbit/s dial-up internet) that FFVIII intro and setting it to autoplay when the family computer booted up...to the rest of my family's dismay. The gunswords was the coolest things I'd ever seen. 😅
As for the game itself, it sadly falls short when compared to VI, VII, IX & X IMO, but still a great game in its own right.
Looks fantastic, hope it launches in a more stable state then the original did. 🤞😣🤞
@RagnarLothbrok I think that's a no on both fronts. They might be easier/more lenient, but still intact from what I've read. But to be fair if Henry didn't tell us about his hunger would he really be Henry at all.
I can't wait to exterminate some heretical xenos, sadly it'll have to wait in line. But having too many good games to play is a problem I'll gladly endure. 😁
Sounds great, glad the Pro crowd gets some more eye-candy for their bucks. Getting my physical (Black Friday) copy of GT7 in the mail any day now, looking forward to digging into this game even if I'll be playing it on the PS5 Pleb. 🐌
Damn, I was hoping Kadokawa was just entertaining the idea of a buyout. But apparently they seem eager to sell. Sigh. 😔
On the positive side maybe Sony can save From Software by firing that hack Hidetaka Miyazaki, move the studio to California and make Niel Druckmann lead writer & creative director so we finally can have our bigoted expectations subverted and given the game we deserve.
Then after we've all cried, grown and had our lives changed by the literary genius... we'll get Born Elden: Ring of Souls a massive GaaS title. Guaranteed, one hundred percent, the live service game of the ages. 💯 I for one feel giddy. 😅
...on the other hand, we might get a remastered Bloodborne. Ok, I'll allow it!
This game is such a dark horse to me, I have no idea what to expect even though I've seen most the promotional material they've released. There's a part of me that feels the first person view is a mistake, but there's nothing I'd love more then to be proven wrong and that they'll suprise us all with a banger game. 🤞
And yeah, I'm very much on team "longer doesn't = better". Quality & depth trumps long & stretched imo. (I could've worded that a bit more fairly, but I'm biased asf. 😁)
I adore The Witcher 3 but still haven't pulled the trigger on Cyberpunk 2077. I enjoyed my time with other cyberpunk games like Bladerunner and Shadowrun very much, so this should in theory be for me.
But every time I see gameplay it doesn't really do much for me.🤷♂️ I'll most likely pick it up down the line, at the right pice, and let the game speak for itself. Ultimately I'm glad they managed to turn the ship around, patch it up and give players what they were promised.
@thedevilsjester I played the fan translated snes roms of 5 & 6 a couple of years ago. Not perfect, but serviceable and it was fun to finally play them.
I've sadly only played 1-6 and 11, that 8 is still in my backlog is a black mark on my gamer status and I feel ashamed.😁 Hopefully I'll get to it sometime next year. Unless a remaster get announced ofc.
Saw a deepdive (😋) retrospective of the Aquanaut’s Holiday series on YouTube the other day. The second one seemed very intriguing, in a ultra-japanese way. The PS1 era was ripe with these interesting experiences as developers were exploring what could be done with the third dimension.
Been a fan since D:OS1, they've become masters of their trade. Well deserved success for sure. I'm not a blind-faith-day-one-purchase kind of guy, but it's pretty damn close with this studio. 🥳
@LifeGirl It's a great collection, I have it for both PS and Switch...and a way for me to kick back some money to Sega for all of my totally-100%-legal roms.
Sad to see it go, wonder what they're planning that would call for this removal? 🤔
@NintenGuy I think LifeGirl meant "These games" as in the games in the collection, not the games in the topic.
I have high hopes for this one, keeping my fingers crossed they stick the landing. Loved the first one, so it'll be interesting to see what they can do with a larger budget.
Always hard to gauge how well it will resonate with the general gaming community. But BG3 did the impossible and made a turn-based d'n'd RPG a huge hit, so there could be room for other niche games to blow up if the quality and craftsmanship is there.
IMO without the lore and graphics there really isn't much to Horizon apart from robot dinosaurs. Maybe it'll pick up some steam once the price drops a bit.
I'm still heartbroken over this game. Instead of leaning into what made DA so special they just made another hack'n'slash action game. But I shouldn't be suprised, Bioware has been allergic to RPG mechanics for quite a while now.
Ah well, at least I still got a metric-ton of games in my backlog to fill that void. Over the last decade I've saved a LOT of money by exploring and playing past classics. To get $70-$90 out of me for a new game it needs to be something very special, and not in the way your mom says you're "special". 😋
Yeah, I'd be suprised if they aren't planning some kind of dlc/expc. Even if only 20-30% of install base picks it up it's still a sh*tload of money to leave on the table.
Neck deep into school drama, monster slaying and building bonds in Trails of Cold Steel I try to absorb all the in game history/lore, but the game sure like to tell instead of show. This is going to take a while, at least if I plan to do the whole series. 😅
Finished Chrono Trigger on my bedside retro-handheld earlier this week, still one of the best jRPGs ever made. Now it's up to Phantasy Star to make sure I keep on getting too little sleep. 😁
Played a fair bit these games. But it's hard to remember exactly how I felt about them at the time. The highlights and lowpoints are easy enough, but rating mid games is almost impossible. So I abstained from rating games I don't clearly remember.
Not much that interested me this time around (that I don't already own). But snagged myself Risk of Rain 2 at a great price.
But more importantly got myself a physical copy of Gran Turismo 7 locally for $12.99, been waiting some time to get my hands on this one! 🥳
Update: I'll be damned, walked over to my local game shop on my break just as they were restocking...and got my grabby hands on Final Fantasy XVI for $9.99. My poor, poor, backlog sooo bloated. 😁
If you can get it on any of the big digital storefronts then it's waaaay to mainstream for me, damn dirty sellouts. I only enjoy the games found while scraping the bottom of itch.io and a select few atari 2600 & zx spectrum homebrews. tips fedora
I'm sure the extended universe and lore must be good, at least good enough to get the money-people excited enough to back them.
But as for the game, I thought it looked like an uninspired action game with the chick from The Witcher tv-show. It gave off a "Forspoken at home" vibe to me. 🤷♂️
The series that helped coined the term slav-jank being janky checks out. I applaud them for sticking to their guns and not dumbing it down. Will get this down the line, no doubt.

China is on a roll these days it seems. Aren't both PoE2 and Marvel Rivals also chinese owned? Interesting to see how the market reacts to this.
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Path of Exile 2?

Re: Rumour: Ubisoft Turmoil Continues as Shareholders Consider Buyout
The company seems like a giant, bloated, headache to manage. So it's no wonder Tencent wants to negotiate more control before pulling the trigger.

Gran Turismo 7 (PS5) & Phantasy Star 4 (retro handheld), having a fuel-filled break from LoH:ToCS. 😁

Exited for the reveals for sure, but there's no shot I'm watching the show.

Looks like a fun playthrough for the story, as soon as it drops to around $30 I'll definitely pick it up.
Re: Ex-PlayStation Boss Thinks the Days of Consoles Are Numbered
I live in the middle of nowhere with barely enough internet speed to stream 720p videos, so if this comes to pass I'm royally f*cked.
But if the current console makers leave the market then hopefully someone new pops up and fills the void.
Worst case scenario I'll have my physical backlog and my retro machines. 😬
