I miss WWII. I was a little burnt out on it at the time, but now there are SOOO many more modern shooters that might take that extra leap to killing aliens, but in the end it all feels the same.
I want the gritty, early to mid century mayhem that made this genre what it is today.
Agreed. For the price (after the trial period), I don't seem much in the way of want/need from the consumer. There's just so many other (free) methods that allow you to do this on your computer with a much easier interface.
I like the interest Sony is showing towards other demographics, but you wonder if that talent could be used elsewhere.
^^^ Exactly. I think too many people consider multiplayer as ONLINE multiplayer. It would have worked fine with a local multiplayer, like games used to be.
I think they need to focus more on having Move as an option, as well as push harder to have 3rd party implement move as an option. This opens the market to more people to boost sales of the game, as well as allow us Move lovers to utilize that control scheme. If MW3 had released on the PS3 with Move support, I wouldn't have bought it for the Wii instead. lol
I'm really curious to see how powerful it will be, and how it stacks up against the competition. It's already been said that PS will not be taking the same leap it did with PS2 to PS3 (they're not ready to take those same financial losses, or leave developers struggling with new tech). Is it going to be a PS3.5 in way of tech? It's sad, really. This is the first generation that consoles will be moving on before the full potential of the platform will be utilized.
While I understand their need to keep up with Nintendo's console release, we've hardly touched what it's capable of. I think the current generation will be a great learning lesson for all companies, and how reaching too far can really hurt.
In either case, I'm excited about the next gen and can't wait to see what PS dazzles us with!
^^^ That. I was hoping for something more, maybe some real game play footage. There is some on youtube, but it looks to be pretty early in the development stages.
Wow! I was so-so with the E3 footage, but they've really made some great improvements, especially moving away from the kiddy look. Not that Spyro is a bad game (actually really fun), but we need something to hit the more mature audience. Very nice.
What? I'm not even sure if they were trying to sell the Move or not. That was just one cluster of nonsense. lol. Hopefully, not many people come across this video.
Wow! The PS3 bundle is actually a great deal!. I'm not so interested in Everybody Dance (not my cup o' tea), but just the fact of getting a 320GB PS3 and the move set up for $300? Makes me a little upset that I spent $400 on it a couple months ago. lol. Plus, if you don't like the game, trade it towards something better.
I think that it would take sooo much more work to create a rail-shooter version of the game just for the Move than to just find a way to implement the Move into the controls. I must have missed something, though. Where was it stated that this might become a rail-shooter?
Are the multiplayer levels big enough to fit the amount of players. I found on the Wii that some levels were just unfairly small, creating a hectic gameplay that didn't always leave room for strategy. I don't mean this on all levels, but I could see how bad this could get with doubling the player size without creating drastically larger maps.
I want this game soooo bad. I think that there are going to be very few games out there that will be able to get the audience so emotionally involved. That 15 minute gameplay intro already has me hooked and I can't wait to see where the story leads.
There's only room for improvement. They're still in the baby stages of motion control. The Wii has made vast improvements to it, and while it's not the same technology, I don't see how they can't find ways to tweak it.
The only downside I can see to this game is no online vs modes. I play League of Legends a lot, and this appears to come close to the same play style. Bringing that kind of play to the console would definitely have me sold, and would probably sell well as a store purchase.
Hmmm. Did I actually see a new multiplayer map or two? The old maps are going to be a nightmare with that many people, though. lol. I'll have to at least rent the game to see how that pans out.
Ok, I can see that this would be a lot of fun! Though, only for a short time. I'm sure people will get tired of it quit quickly. I also think that there will be at least one law suit as drunk players hurt each other and try and blame Sony for their stupidity. lol. Yeah, can't wait to try it out. lol
Wow! At first I was a little upset, but the whole "English voice acting" bit sold me. Usually that's the last thing that games worry about. If Reef is looking to make the game that polished, I think I can wait.
Looks pretty good, but I'm waiting to learn more about it before making a final decision. I like the dark and gritty nature of the game, something that few FPS have managed to accomplish. I hope they do take this genre into a new direction, but my hopes aren't really that high. lol
@Big_Gamer I'd have to agree. Besides a prettier finish, this game feels the same as the Wii version. I've tried to look for something new in it that'll place it apart from the year old Wii version so that I might add it to me Christmas list, but nothing so far.
It's really nice to see games that aren't exclusive to Playstation getting some Move love. While not on the other home consoles, it'll be found on the PC and Mac, and perhaps this potential success will help it find deeper roots in console systems!
I'm still on the fence on whether or not I'm going to get this game. I had it for N64 (loved it), have it for the Wii (loved it), but do I need it for one more console? Yes, I know that this'll have much more to offer, but it might be to close to my most recently owned release for me to put the money towards. Still.....it sure looks puuurdy!!
In your face, Japan!! Now you've gotta deal with the very, very slight difference in lip movement to voice dubbing....(You gotta admit, English and Japanese use a very similar amount of syllables in any given sentence. lol)
Wow! While hardly as in depth as Dota (or LoL), it still seems fairly submersive. Depending on the price, this is definitely a game I'll keep my eye out for. Plus, move support. Come on! You can't beat that.
That actually looks kind of fun. Reminds me of the King's Quest series (does anyone remember that series?). I think I'll be picking this up for me and the wife to do a run through.
I hope they fix this. Motion control is the only reason why I like FPS so much. And this game looks sooooo amazing, otherwise. Well, I don't plan on buying it for a little while yet, so I'll have to keep my eyes open as to where this issue goes.
@Noend It only comes with one pair. Additional pairs are sold separately.
The fact that this TV does away with split screen is amazing! I'd buy it if I had $500 to throw around... but.... dem bills gotsa be paid. Plus, what about a 3rd person that's just sitting by watching two others without the split screen (like my wife does on occasion). Would she still be able to see anything, or would it just be a blur of colors threatening to make her visit Ralph, the porcelain god?
I forgot to mention that there are a few "wierdos" out there that can actually manage to use the guns well. I have a buddy I used to play Reflex with on the Wii, and no matter how hard I tried, the guy owned me every time. lol
Though I'm not one to use the peripherals, I have to give congrats to those that do use it (and fear those that use it well!)
It looks interesting, but my problems has been that you have to change your control style all together to use any of the gun peripherals.
Normally, a person uses the Navigation controller in their left hand, and uses the Move controller in their right to aim. This can be the reverse if you are left handed, but let's keep it simply for righties at the moment.
Now, when you hold a rifle, as a righty, you put it against your right shoulder, with your left hand steadying the gun and your right pulling the trigger. In the case of these guns, that means that you are now moving your guy with your right thumb and aiming with your left.
That's where I can't enjoy it. Either I'm throwing off my aim because I'm aiming with my off hand (my left), or even if I switch it around and aim with my right, the stock is now on my left shoulder and I'm holding the gun in a very uncomfortable way that doesn't feel the slightest bit natural.
This can all work for lefties, as well, because they do everything I've said above, but with opposite hands.
If I am ever going to enjoy a gun peripheral, a design is going to have to be made to take that all into account (which I can't really see how that's possible). The ability for the barrel and grip to "flex" is a neat idea, but for the vast majority of us that aren't ambidextrous in even the slightest way, it still just means another useless piece of plastic sitting in our entertainment cabinet because we've learned to hate the thing.

Re: inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood Trailer Really Bites
This looks awesome. I've got one thing to say to twilight fans: "Eat it!! Vampires are supposed to be evil, not sparkle in daylight!"
Also, how long is this game supposed to last? For $9.99 it's fairly cheap, and I'm just afraid that translates to 2-3 hours.

You don't know. They might run out of copies....
