Re: Seize Your Moment with the PlayStation Now Open Beta

GameAce

I may look into this once they announce some sort of subscription service for it. I'd still rather play a game locally.

It should be interesting to see how well it actually works for people. It'll also probably work better for some games than others. Anyway, the cloud sounded like a cool, futuristic idea, but we'll have to see if the technology is actually there to pull it off spotlessly. It will also be interesting to see if people actually cough up the dough under this current, less than ideal, pricing model.

Re: PlayStation Hardware Sales Leave Xbox in the Dust

GameAce

This is good news for Sony. There's been a lot of it since the release of the PS4. Sony's stock is still stuck in "junk" status as I'm sure they wish they could transfer their success with the PS4over to the rest of their conglomerate. But let's not forget that MS pretty much forked over this console generation, at least the beginning of it, with their shenanigans about digital games, always online, and pumping the price up $100 to include the Kinect no one liked last cycle. Those decisions really turned me off of the idea of purchasing a Xbox One at launch. My PS4, Vita, Wii U, and PC is enough to keep me more than occupied for now.

Re: Will the PS4 Get a Price Cut Any Time Soon?

GameAce

A diligent online shopper can already purchase the PS4 for $350 or $360 on deals or bundles priced similarly now and then. It'll be interesting to see if the Wii U Deluxe console gets its price cut to $250 before that. I think the $250 price point really helped the original Wii sell well. It was right at that "I'm at Best Buy and here's a Wii in stock I'm gonna buy it and check it out with the kids" splurge price. Game systems are cheaper than ever and the PS4 is still selling the best in the regions that really count toward overall sales; I'm sure that and the extra $$$ is more than enough to keep the price the same for a while.

Re: The Stealthy CounterSpy Infiltrates All PlayStation Consoles Next Month

GameAce

I'm looking forward to this one. It could be something to help tide me over on the way to Destiny if everything shakes out well and this game plays how it should. It looked like a lot of fun from the demos at E3. I'm more excited for this than I was for The Swapper and that turned out to be a great gaming experience. That's not perfect logic, I know, but I'm hoping.

Re: Review: The Swapper (PlayStation 4)

This is another in a long line of exceptional indies being released on PlayStation platforms. I wasn't as excited for Rogue Legacy since I've already played it on Steam. I think The Swapper is a solid 9 out of 10 game. You couldn't call it genre-defining or a masterpiece, but it does everything consistently well. Difficulty, atmosphere, story, controls, are all impressive. I like it a lot.

Re: Talking Point: Would You Pay for an EA Access Subscription on PS4?

GameAce

I think EA has burned a lot of bridges. I probably wouldn't personally partake in this subscription service, because NBA 2K is their only game I'm serious about, but I do think PS4 owners should have had the chance to decide for themselves. To couch it as a value judgement on PS' part is in all likelihood patently disingenuous.

Re: Feature: What Are August 2014's Free PlayStation Plus Games?

GameAce

@ToOGoodOfAPlaya This month is puzzle game heavy for PS4. That's the beauty of new games every month There will be two more next month. And hey, since you have already paid for the service, there's no downside to downloading Fez and maybe giving a chance to a game you otherwise might not have. PS+ is sold in three and 12-month increments. Anyone should be able to find something they like in that amount of time. A lot of somethings for gamers that aren't too picky. Not every month can be your month if you only like platformers or narrative-heavy games.

Re: Feature: What Are August 2014's Free PlayStation Plus Games?

GameAce

All the vitriol directed towards the cache of games each month on PS+ never ceases to amaze me. It's a lot of the same gamers who won't play and refuse to enjoy anything that isn't AAA. Access to 24 games a year for each of three platforms plus discounts from PS+ for $50 retail yearly, $40 on a good eBay deal and $30 on Black Friday. Less than the price of one AAA game at retail. People need to temper their unrealistic expectations. Two previously unreleased games plus universally acclaimed Fez and Dragon's Crown for just the PS4 and Vita alone? That's a ton of content for August.
