Family Guy, South Park, The Simpson, Looney Tunes, every Pixar film... Why the arguing?! They're all great animation! They all have their own style. It's not about which is better, because it's impossible to judge. Enjoy them for what they are: cartoons.
But about this game: Hmm, games developed after television shows seem to be about as good as games developed after movies. This game had so much potential. Heck, the people who work on the show already did 80% of the work with creating the Family Guy world...
The games that are fantastic and always get played: Table Tennis Tennis Bocce (extra courses, please) Disc Golf (only one 18 hole course?!) Bowling
The games that sometimes get played, briefly: Boxing Archery Gladiator
The games that should be included: Skee-Ball (alley ball - similar to Bowling) Lawn Darts (would work much like Bocce)
The games that rarely, if ever, get played: Skiing Volleyball
I love playing both SC titles, but the sequel is lacking in so many ways... and it all starts before you even open the game with that horrible cover. It's quite possibly the worst cover in gaming history. Luckily I do not judge things by their cover.
The fact that I was able to pick up multiple brand new copies for $10 shows me this title isn't selling like it should be. 75% off, not even a month after release. Insane! Something is wrong here, because Zindagi Games is the absolute best when it comes to motion gaming. I have gone on and on about how Table Tennis on SC1 is the best representation on how a motion based game should play. It's just downright amazing... and anyone who argues that is just not all there in the head.
My main problem with SC is the art style. It just lacks that total immersion experience. It has great gameplay but with characters you cannot relate to in an enviroment you don't care to explore. This is why I think people dismiss these two titles. They just don't visually draw you in. It's something you have to experience to fully appreciate, and most people aren't willing to buy the extra peripherals in the hopes that they'll be supported. Oh, how they're missing out!
Damn nice machine. Certainly the prettiest of the handhelds. I'm just amazed how vibrant the screen is. Zen Pinball is so hard to put down on the Vita. I wish I could play all my PSN titles on the Vita... That would be a HUGE selling point! Hate those memory card prices though. That is the main reason most of my friends don't have one. Only true Sony fanboys will argue for the price of them... and in the process, show their ignorance. 32gb for $100? You can buy an external TB hard drive for less than that. Not really for portable gaming though.
Table Tennis on the original SC is by far the best motion gaming one can have. When you play at the gold level, it's as if you're actually playing a real game of table tennis. Nothing even come close. There's not a single game that's even near the same level as it.
I was let down by SC2. Seriously, Archery again? If you're going to retread your games, why not have more Disc Golf or Bocce courses? Those are the two that get played the most with large groups of people, but there's just not enough courses... Especially with Disc Golf. Only 18 Holes? Come on! I'm thinking the sequel didn't sell that well, being how I was able to pick up a brand new copy on BF for $10. Great deal.
I see nothing wrong with this cover. The color palette they used is actually quite pleasing. And to be completely honest, it kind of reminds me of an old school carnival that you don't see too many of these days. The only thing I don't really care for is the the small advert about the inclusion of the free original game that comes with it. It's the only thing out of place.
Damn, the grade of the glass used is so low, but the thing just looks nice regardless. I would want it detached so I could actually hold it. Reminds me of the plastic see-thru controllers back in the day.
COD is the new Madden. Every year = minor tweaks, but nothing really worth buying an entire new game. Yet people do buy it. It saddens me and makes me laugh at the same time. This is what defines this generation of games... and gamers. And I want no part of it.
One thing I will say about these COD games is that seem to keep people entertained for months on end, which is how you get your money's worth. Personally, I would rather play a new game with only a 3 hour campaign every week than this game over and over and over and over and over... because that is exactly what some of my friends do.
I'm glad for those who do enjoy it... I'm just saddened by those who live for it.
You definitely can get more use from an iPad over a Vita, but a PSP over a Vita? Ha! Apple makes great products. I'm writing this from a MacBook. Those who knock them show their envy. I personally will never own an iPad because I don't have a need for it, but I'm not stupid enough to knock it because I don't own one. Other companies make great Tablets, as well... I won't own one of those neither. Just don't have a need. It's merely a fancy toy that can do more than any portable gaming device.
I only know a handful of Vita owners, yet dozens of Tablet owners. Vita has a long way to go to become mainstream. I hope it happens. It's a fantastic machine! That damn screen looks so nice when playing. Kill the PSP, focus on Vita. Tablets are a different/non-argument.
I have found this game to be way easier than the first one... but that's not a complaint, per se. I've just been blazing through the levels so fast, grabbing all the stars and pro medals with ease. I only have a couple remaining pro medals from the downloadable tour to get and I'm 100% trophy wise... but that doesn't mean this game is by any means easy to complete. You will get frustrated from time-to-time on a certain track. Superior platforming skills will be needed. Joe Danger makes you work for those pesky pro medals. I highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoyed the first one. Joe Danger is great escapism. It's an interactive cartoon with great controls and level design. It's everything a great videogame should be. How can you not love it? Sure it doesn't have online real-time multiplayer, but this is a single player experience for me. I'm happy about being able to get new tracks from random people now though. But make no mistake about it, both of these games are old school hard if you wish to grab everything in the levels. Be prepared for some challenges.
This game is amazing! I like it more than the original so far. I'm just hoping there's an Insert Disk 2-esque challenge waiting for me at the finish. How can anyone not like Joe Danger?
This is the game that I have been waiting for for too many years! Gaiden challenge accepted.
I'm the only person I know that has a 100% completion of the first game. That damn Insert Disk 2 stage is the hardest level I've beat in any video game... ever. To do it flawlessly takes well over 1,000 attempts. I now have it mastered. Oh, so many hours wasted on the original.
Damn, that's one high price tag for an HD upgrade to a game that launched in 2006. I would like this game to succeed, because I'm actually a fan of it, but I don't think many people will jump on an arcade shooter for $30. I think this should've been a PSN download only for $10 or so for it to have a, ahem, shot. But hopefully I'm wrong (like usual).
I'm glad to see games like this being made. I personally don't agree with the score, but definitely think it's worth a purchase. With the lower price point (that many Americans I know seem to think is too high - wth?!) you really can't go wrong with the title. If anything, it's just nice to run around as a little chicken.
Agree with Sammy and Aviator. Although attractive in theory, the price would just make it a very bad business move... especially since the Vita isn't dropping in price and the PS3 actually went up with it's redesign. Oh, Sony, how I hope you guys know what you're doing...
PS+ is a damn joke. Anyone who subscribes to it falls under the category of "sucker"
This article actually makes me laugh because since the introduction of PS+ I have bought less & less & less & less from the PSN.
It's the first step in Sony's demise, if you ask me. When you are so ignorant as a company that you would divide your own damn community... well, that's just plain ignorant. Good job, Sony!
Still debating on whether to get this or not; The original is one of my favorite games on the PSN, but after the XBOX360 got a better version of the original then the sequel first... well, it's left me thinking perhaps I shouldn't support Hello Games for being such Greedy @$$holes! Unless there is a complete, 100% actual proper reason for it... Please, Hello Games, tell me this reason. I, and many like me, feel extremely burned by your company. Why should we support you after this business decision nonsense? Oh, we're getting additional content for this one? whoo-hoo! Where's our additional content from the 1st game after supporting you when you were only on PSN?
And all of this is coming from someone who has 100% completion and videos of flawless runs on Insert Disk 2 with every character, DLC included.
Jaded? Bitter? Yeah. I thought independent companies weren't supposed to be as bad as the big ones...
Many thanks to Grip Games and PushSquare for this most excellent gift! Sadly I will not have a chance to play this until after the holiday weekend, being how I'm skipping town for some fresh air and hammock time.
I am such a sucker for these types of games so I cannot express how happy I am to have won. Many, many thanks once again to all involved. I look forward to enjoying this for months on end. For some reason whenever I play foosball I need to have nachos... It's a wicked craving. I'm hoping this doesn't occur while playing virtual foosball. :-/
Oooh, If I'm selected can I please change my platform to PS3, being how my Vita is currently doing a National Park tour without me! I need to learn to say the word "no" when it comes to friends sometimes.
Of course, I don't know if any of us can compete with the awesomeness the Besen is bringing... and I totally feel your pain. Much like yourself, I never have anyone to play foosball with these days. That goes for all the old "non-arcade" arcade games.
I cannot even begin to imagine how much money I sunk into the foosball table in my younger days... Then came my twenties and I finally bought my very own table! And along came my thirties and I was left with a foosball table with headless figures and wobbly legs. (Those damn weighted heads can fly right off and score goals occasionally!) Now, I'm still in my thirties and have a chance to win a virtual foosball table? Alright, alright, alright!
And to be completely honest, I would really like some foosball goodness while I salivate for some Tennis action in the upcoming Sports Champions 2. (I'm so excited for Zindagi to have a proper tennis showing after their excellent simulation of table tennis!)
Preferred platform: PS Vita Region: US
And to Grip Games, the visual style of this game is spot-on. You guys truly have captured the essence of foosball. May we have some skee-ball or air hockey as possible follow-ups? Please? Pretty please? I'm glad to see promotions like this because we need more games like this on PSN. More recognition the better.
a solid 9 for me... i've been playing it non-stop. controls are fantastic. not sure why it has handling issues according to this review. once you switched to classic controls, it's just like playing SSX, Tricky & 3. damn good game. highly recommended.
Bummer. I was hoping this was going to be a must-have tennis title for Move. I having been wanting one since motion gaming began. Why is it so hard to make a great tennis move game? Ugh! As you can most likely tell from my username, I'm a huge tennis and tennis game fan. I cannot express enough how frustrating it is to not have a great motion based tennis game. Sports Champions is the only thing that comes close. (Please have a full-on tennis mode in the next Sports Champions title, Z. That table tennis is flawless on the first one!) I think Zindagi is the only company that knows how to do things exactly right when it comes to hitting a ball back and forth... or throwing a ball, for that matter. (Bocce!) Hopefully they'll include a Skee-Ball type game in their next venture too. Carnival Games was a huge let down! How do you mess up Skee-Ball?
Glad to hear this news because this game is in my top ten games of all time... not just this generation. As soon as I received the Platinum for it, I immediately started over. Yeah, it really is that much fun. If I ever get a Vita this will be an instant purchase for me. I wonder if you can use your PS3 save for Vita play because I love running around with Evil Globox.
I'm just as bothered by the format of the cord/plug/adapter. It isn't a standard micro USB, which is friggin' ridiculous... much like the DS cord was different... and now the 3DS is different from the DS. Why do we need so many types of adapters?!?! It's all about money because if you lose one or it just stops working, you can't just use your standard USB cable to charge it; you need to buy a new Sony cord for it to charge. Greed, greed, greed.
As for the memory cards being used, that was the deal breaker for me. What's wrong with SD cards? Oh, that's right... It all comes down to money again. Corporate greed.
Hopefully this system will drop in price as fast as 3DS. Otherwise I might lose interest and not buy it at all. But if it's cheap relatively soon, consider one more system sold. However, I don't expect it to drop in price within 5 months.
I really don't want to see this system fail, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did. Our current society thinks $5 for a handheld game is expensive thanks to mobile phones. How can you appeal to them so they wish to spend $40 once they've spent hundreds just to have the chance to play? It doesn't matter how great, long, deep, etc... the games are, most people see handhelds as casual and nothing more. This is something I'm sure Sony has thought of, but they aren't the greatest at marketing their products... and that may be a huge problem for them.
@Dak, I'm not bothered by the "selling out" factor... I'm bothered by the Facebook & Twitter nonsense. Why in the hell do I have to have an account with such a waste of internet to participate? Why can't I just submit my email address and be on my merry way? That's why I'm bothered by it. I loathe Facebook & Twitter. I refuse/resist anything that makes either of those the dominant way of doing things. It was enough for me to cancel my preorder. Pretty damn sad, isn't it? I'll still be getting the game... just once the price drops. So I guess it's a win for me as I'll be saving money. And I suppose all my time will be taken up by SSX in a couple weeks, a series which I truly am waiting for to make a proper comeback. Put it under the tab of "When promotions go wrong." It's just a matter of principle for me. All they had to do was have an email link along side the other two, but they figure they wouldn't get any exposure that way, I guess.
Burlapped... nice one, guys! I'm actually excited by this. I love Mario Kart, but not the biggest fan of Modnation, so this is a welcome addition if it handles right. Not so sure about Move support though. I hate using the wheel on Mario Kart Wii... In fact, I gave away the HUGE waste of plastic!
This handheld looks so nice, but I'm still not sold on it. Do I really need another way to game? And it's a pricey little bastard as well. I think I'm going to hold off and play some Stardust on my PS3 to distract me from it.
Sadly you need a Facebook or Twitter account to sign up... so I'll be missing out on this one due to my principles alone. Yes, I absolutely loathe those sites and it leaves me with an not-so-good feeling in my gut. One that tells me to not buy the game at all now because that's the only way to access this totally kick-butt promotion. I guess you can say it had the opposite effect on me once I went to the website to sign up. Bummer. Why can't you use just an email alone? What the BEEP?!
An overreaction? Yes, perhaps. But I live my life by a code, as Dexter would say, and Facebook and Twitter are not part of it. So BEEP this BEEP until it can't BEEP no more.
It's amazing how two social media sites just turned me against getting this game. This promotion is awesome, but being excluded from it makes me not wish to support it.
never could get excited about this series. but anything to chip away at COD, as series for which i truly can't stand, is a good thing to me. i sometimes feel alone with this thought. silly me and my love affair with games like Rayman Origins instead. i love cartoons, i tell you!
wow, the sphere is so pretty. seriously, that's all the design team could come up with? not bothered by the change whatsoever. i just think it could look nicer. but i guess all things can't be as pretty as me, i suppose.
@ro-kurorai, only in a videogame message would something like "defo d1p" make sense to the rest of us. this game looks just as good as something you would expect from naughty dogs.
i have all the other tables, so i'm sure i'll get this one too. my dream is to one day have a superb motion controlled tennis game and they keep releasing new venues and players to smack that fuzzy yellow ball back and forth... i know, i know. super far fetched. Sammy might understand this desire. i know firsthand his love of tennis games from going to pushsquare for so many moons.
interesting. first they passed on the Kinect tech, then they had a similiar WiiU controller... what next, sony? what innovation are you turning your nose up on now?
her name was amy. wait, no... suzy. crap, i can't remember. seriously though, i remember buying the PS1 and it dropped in price by a hundred bucks 9 days after so i had to go back to Best Buy and they refunded the difference. they had a 30 day grace period. i'm not sure if they still do that. that system had a lady named Lara that made me love that system. i still have my original Atari, Commodore 64, SMS, Genesis, etc... i know some of you are thinking, "etc...?" ā yeah, that system rocked too!
remember when SEN was hacked? oh wait... that never happened. probably reason enough right there for them to consider this. i'm not really bothered, but it sounds somewhat lame. it's just a matter of getting used to it if it's true. i wonder what the logo will look like.

the art style of this game is absolutely gorgeous.
is this playable on PS3 as well? ā i'm lacking a PSVita.
Re: Journey Destined for North America on 13th March
Excellent to hear.
Re: Review: Grand Slam Tennis 2 (PlayStation 3)
That table tennis is flawless on the first one!)
I think Zindagi is the only company that knows how to do things exactly right when it comes to hitting a ball back and forth... or throwing a ball, for that matter. (Bocce!) Hopefully they'll include a Skee-Ball type game in their next venture too. Carnival Games was a huge let down! How do you mess up Skee-Ball?
Re: Rayman Origins Actually Made Ubisoft Some Money
Glad to hear this news because this game is in my top ten games of all time... not just this generation.
As soon as I received the Platinum for it, I immediately started over. Yeah, it really is that much fun. If I ever get a Vita this will be an instant purchase for me. I wonder if you can use your PS3 save for Vita play because I love running around with Evil Globox.
Re: Feature: The Positives and Negatives of PS Vita
Re: David Jaffe Curses Up a Storm for Amazing Twisted Metal Ad
Hilarious avatar, by the way!
Re: The Push Square Forums are Now Open!
yay for those who spend time in forums!
it's a rarity for me, so i'm not really bothered about it.
Re: Sony Officially Acknowledges LittleBigPlanet Karting
Burlapped... nice one, guys!
I'm actually excited by this. I love Mario Kart, but not the biggest fan of Modnation, so this is a welcome addition if it handles right. Not so sure about Move support though. I hate using the wheel on Mario Kart Wii... In fact, I gave away the HUGE waste of plastic!
Re: PlayStation Store Now Open For Business on US PS Vitas
This handheld looks so nice, but I'm still not sold on it. Do I really need another way to game? And it's a pricey little bastard as well. I think I'm going to hold off and play some Stardust on my PS3 to distract me from it.
Re: David Jaffe Curses Up a Storm for Amazing Twisted Metal Ad
I'm with Corbs on this one. Bazooka to high hell.
Re: Sony Provides Official Vita First Edition Unboxing
Clown shoes: Big & inexpensive.
Re: LittleBigPlanet Karting is Real After All
mario sackboy?
Re: Sony: No UMD-to-Vita Transfer for North America
bee-bi-bo-bummer.
Re: New Medal of Honor Comes Out Guns Blazing Next Month
never could get excited about this series. but anything to chip away at COD, as series for which i truly can't stand, is a good thing to me. i sometimes feel alone with this thought.
silly me and my love affair with games like Rayman Origins instead. i love cartoons, i tell you!
Re: Rockstar San Diego is Staffing Up For New Open-World Game
RDR2... yes, please!
Re: PlayStation Network Renamed Sony Entertainment Network
wow, the sphere is so pretty.
seriously, that's all the design team could come up with?
not bothered by the change whatsoever. i just think it could look nicer. but i guess all things can't be as pretty as me, i suppose.
Re: The Last of Us Screens Wander into Pittsburgh
@ro-kurorai, only in a videogame message would something like "defo d1p" make sense to the rest of us.
this game looks just as good as something you would expect from naughty dogs.
Re: Review: Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (PlayStation 3)
drake is the new relevant equivalent to lara.
not sure i would go with a 10, but a 9.5 certainly would be given.
Re: Epic Quest Adds Loot to Zen Pinball
i have all the other tables, so i'm sure i'll get this one too.
my dream is to one day have a superb motion controlled tennis game and they keep releasing new venues and players to smack that fuzzy yellow ball back and forth... i know, i know. super far fetched. Sammy might understand this desire. i know firsthand his love of tennis games from going to pushsquare for so many moons.
Re: Sony Patented a Wii U Style Controller Too
interesting. first they passed on the Kinect tech, then they had a similiar WiiU controller... what next, sony? what innovation are you turning your nose up on now?
Re: Feature: Unforgettable PlayStation Firsts
her name was amy. wait, no... suzy. crap, i can't remember.
seriously though, i remember buying the PS1 and it dropped in price by a hundred bucks 9 days after so i had to go back to Best Buy and they refunded the difference. they had a 30 day grace period. i'm not sure if they still do that.
that system had a lady named Lara that made me love that system.
i still have my original Atari, Commodore 64, SMS, Genesis, etc... i know some of you are thinking, "etc...?" ā yeah, that system rocked too!
Re: Is the PlayStation Network Being Renamed?
remember when SEN was hacked? oh wait... that never happened. probably reason enough right there for them to consider this. i'm not really bothered, but it sounds somewhat lame. it's just a matter of getting used to it if it's true. i wonder what the logo will look like.
Re: Hirai: "Sony Can't Go On Like This"
'Holy sā, now what?'
ha! that's my everyday motto!
