@Toilet_Goat Agreed. I think Jak 2's main problem was its lack of checkpoints at certain times. But people also love soulslike games, which can be way more unforgiving, imo. Jak 3 is a times almost too easy on the other hand. I personally like them all, although the first one was my first PS2 game and will always have a special place in my heart.
I don't have much interest in the game as it seems to follow the kind of teenagers that I find insufferable and antisocial. I'm going to try it on Game Pass, it might surprise me. Not holding my breath, though.
The solution would ideally be that outlets would stop reporting on leaks, and more importantly that there would be an attitude shift towards leakers. They seem to be admired and get a lot of clout. And if they didn't receive as many views on their podcasts or got so many followers, there wouldn't be enough benefit in it for them to share this kind of information.
I really dislike these "ragebait" pieces you guys have been publishing. By doing this, you're tarnishing by association other Hookshot Media websites. You go after easy targets too, which just makes it sad.
The indie titles look okay to good, so I'll be keeping an eye on them.
Sadly, I won't be keeping an eye on this website anymore, though.
@wildcat_kickz This, 100%. If crunch is allowed for and given positive optional incentives for those who want to put in the time, then I have no problem with it. For me it only becomes an issue if there's peer pressure or unstated rules that you have to do it. But as many have said, this is more of a widespread problem. And it doesn't only happen in private companies either. For instance in my country doctors in the NHS work overtime pretty much constantly because many doctors make more by working in private practices and almost no one wants to earn less and work more.
@Scarface993 I'm still excited for this one, so long as they keep the spirit of the original and don't try to force the style of the more recent games into it. (Nothing against it, I just would rather have the more traditional experience again)
But what would really excite me is that possible AC1 and/or AC2 remakes. I think AC 2 still plays very well and still looks pretty good in its Ezio Trilogy format, AC1 is sometimes quite hard to go back to because of the repetitive structure and lack of subtitles. So between those two I would love especially to see a ground-up remake of AC1. I think it's telling that it's basically the only mainline game they refuse to re-release.
This is a rather odd piece. Why single out this release specifically? Plenty of games have received PS5 versions with barely any changes, even first party games like Days Gone. And people have listed advantages common to other native PS5 versions: new trophy list, cloud streaming to PS Portal, possible resolution or performance boosts...
Why was the last one marked as rumour but this one is now marked as news? Because it's this particular source saying it? Now NateTheHate has more cred than Jason Schreier?
Well, I've fallen for the clickbait title. I think the numbers tell exactly the opposite. Nintendo is supporting both systems this time around, which is a change (except maybe comparing to the 3DS to Switch transition), and the console still hasn't seen any price drops of any sort. So it's really a matter of time before Switch surpasses PS2's sales.
Including Jeff Grubb's agreement if anything lowers my credence that this is happening. I don't know why you keep reporting on his constant wavering reports.
@Americansamurai1 I think that game had a huge potential to change people's minds about Sony's live-service investment. It's one of the few franchises where a live-service online game would make a lot of sense. Really a shame that it didn't come to be. I think it's even likely that the game wasn't in that bad of a state. I mean, it's Naughty Dog, the first Factions were quite good. I think probably Bungie just thought they weren't monetizing it right or something.
I've been burned by buying games after starting the campaigns and the purchase not being recognised by PS Stars. I was interested in the games anyway, but it sucks.
If this is the case, then it was announced way too early. I thought the reason we weren't hearing anything was because Sony was saving the reveal of titles until closer to release. Guess that's not the case with this one. If after a year without most studios outputting anything, they basically just have Ghost of Yotei, that will look bad again.
I'm among the people that cannot make use of the discount upgrade, so no reason will be good enough for me, I'm afraid. Though new trophies are always nice. I'd have hoped for a stronger reaction against this policy from Sony so they would be pressured to revert the decision. But doesn't seem like it's happening.
@Dalamar My hope is that another studio would pick the series up. Like Sanzaru Games did for Sly. Of course that could easily turn out badly, but I think a Jak game by current Naughty Dog would be even worse.
@Slideaway1983 I'm also excited for Ratatan! I'm glad the creators were able to form a team and are making Patapon-like games still. I'm not sure how I feel about it having roguelike mechanics, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.
The setting, atmosphere and graphics were all there. But it could definitely have been more interactive, have better gameplay, and the story could definitely have been better.
I can't believe this is real. I'm so excited for this! The online multiplayer was a big component of this game, for sure, and it's not going to feel the same without it. Yet, it's still a very fun experience. I played this for almost 200 hours when it came out on the PSP. If this comes to fruition, it's the best gaming news of the year so far for me.
@get2sammyb The issue is that Sony only does sales if you upgrade your plan. So if you don't time it well and effectively stop subscribing for an interval of time, you won't be able to take advantage of sales. The issue seems pretty clear.
I think 1.5 million total sales is still pretty respectable. Bayonetta games still get made, for instance. Sony should take a look at what Nintendo does with its smaller franchises. Not every single series needs to turn into a series of huge blockbuster titles.
Only missed what the highest rated game was, I thought it was A Crack in Time, and also the biggest gap between titles, thought it was between Into the Nexus and the remake.
I usually turn my consoles off, but with PS5 I pretty much always use rest mode as it is just convenient to then play later in remote play, including from other networks.
Given the state of the PS2 emulator when the first batch was coming out, I don't know how important this "a PS5 emulator would need to pass quality assurance and function without any bugs or glitches" is. Sure, they have to have them running well, but I think Sony would absolutely release PS3 games even if they weren't in a perfect state. Just remember some of the ports they released on Vita, as an example.
@twitchtvpat I've seen some other piece of news stating that it's going to be closer to their action/adventure titles and less like TLOU. I'd be very up for that, they do it very well. Let's see where it goes! I don't doubt it will turn out to be a great game anyway. But I miss Jak and Daxter specifically. I've been replaying them quite a bit recently for the nostalgia.
I'm not playing much this weekend as I'm travelling for work and taking in some sights. But I'll squeeze in some Horizon: Remastered and some Metaphor on PS5, as well as some Skyward Sword HD and Mario & Luigi: Brothership on Switch. Good gaming everyone.
I think it was always going to come down to either this or Metaphor. I personally enjoyed Metaphor a bit more, and would like to see Atlus, and particularly Hashino's team finally being properly recognized after basically a 20 year period where they just keep releasing killer RPGs. Nonetheless, giving the award to Astro Bot, especially in the aftermath of the Concord debacle, sends, I think, a really nice message up to PlayStation HQ.
Gives me time to actually finish the first game on PC before playing this. Very hyped to return to TLOU's universe, even though I know it will be a very depressing experience all over again.
@nessisonett I agree that the product placement looked out of place. But I think it can be done in a nice way that enhances the immersion or adds to the experience. One example of that were the early Pikmin games, making it clearer that we were playing on Earth. Maybe here the intent is the same but just not communicated very well?
I'm sure it will turn out as an excellent game again. And I'm also certain for some it's already decided that it's trash because of how (what I assume to be) the main character looks. I know it was never going to happen anyway, but I'm still sad that we're likely just never going to see another Jak and Daxter. At least not from them.
I think this is actually a solid month. There are a few titles here that I've been meaning to get but haven't bought yet, like A Space for the Unbound, or the Coffee Talk series, and even Forspoken.
