Re: The Last of Us 2 Can't Quite Match the First Game's Launch on PC

@Americansamurai1 I think that game had a huge potential to change people's minds about Sony's live-service investment. It's one of the few franchises where a live-service online game would make a lot of sense.
Really a shame that it didn't come to be. I think it's even likely that the game wasn't in that bad of a state. I mean, it's Naughty Dog, the first Factions were quite good. I think probably Bungie just thought they weren't monetizing it right or something.

Re: Naughty Dog's Intergalactic Unlikely to Release on PS5 Until 2027

If this is the case, then it was announced way too early. I thought the reason we weren't hearing anything was because Sony was saving the reveal of titles until closer to release. Guess that's not the case with this one. If after a year without most studios outputting anything, they basically just have Ghost of Yotei, that will look bad again.

Re: PS Plus Premium Likely to Include Rhythm RPG Classic Patapon 3

I can't believe this is real. I'm so excited for this! The online multiplayer was a big component of this game, for sure, and it's not going to feel the same without it. Yet, it's still a very fun experience. I played this for almost 200 hours when it came out on the PSP. If this comes to fruition, it's the best gaming news of the year so far for me.

Re: PS3 Games Could One Day Get Emulated on PS5

FreasurePlanten

Given the state of the PS2 emulator when the first batch was coming out, I don't know how important this "a PS5 emulator would need to pass quality assurance and function without any bugs or glitches" is. Sure, they have to have them running well, but I think Sony would absolutely release PS3 games even if they weren't in a perfect state. Just remember some of the ports they released on Vita, as an example.

Re: Astro Bot Dev Pays Tribute to Nintendo As PS5 Exclusive Wins Game of the Year

I think it was always going to come down to either this or Metaphor. I personally enjoyed Metaphor a bit more, and would like to see Atlus, and particularly Hashino's team finally being properly recognized after basically a 20 year period where they just keep releasing killer RPGs. Nonetheless, giving the award to Astro Bot, especially in the aftermath of the Concord debacle, sends, I think, a really nice message up to PlayStation HQ.

Re: Sony Highlights Biggest PS5 Games for 2025 in New Trailer

Is it just for me that videos here on PushSquare aren't working? They seem to be working fine for me on Nintendo Life, so I wonder what's up.

Edit: Now working. Given that Sony is keeping games close to their chest, and that we're about to have what is supposed to be a big TGA, I think this is a pretty good line-up.

Re: Talking Point: Would You Want a Steam Deck-Like Portable PlayStation?

FreasurePlanten

@get2sammyb Sorry for replying twice. My concern (and what I meant by support) is that I imagine that they would have to optimize or patch some games to run well on the device. Even if hardware is getting more scalable, adjustments are always necessary. I think this would be a great idea and I would be personally very interested. But after seeing some hit or miss patches for the Pro, I would be cautiously optimistic if they released a device like that.

Re: Talking Point: Would You Want a Steam Deck-Like Portable PlayStation?

FreasurePlanten

In principle I would be indeed very interested in this. But I wouldn't buy it at launch, for one major reason: I wouldn't know if it would be a PSP or a PS Vita in terms of Sony's support. And that makes a world of a difference when it comes to whether it would be worth getting one instead of just continuing to use Steam Deck (or its successor) and Chiaki.
