Re: PS5 Fans Vote Jak & Daxter As Their Most Wanted PlayStation Revival

FreasurePlanten

@Toilet_Goat Agreed. I think Jak 2's main problem was its lack of checkpoints at certain times. But people also love soulslike games, which can be way more unforgiving, imo. Jak 3 is a times almost too easy on the other hand. I personally like them all, although the first one was my first PS2 game and will always have a special place in my heart.

Re: God of War Boss Cory Barlog Appears Furious After PS5 Game Leak

FreasurePlanten

The solution would ideally be that outlets would stop reporting on leaks, and more importantly that there would be an attitude shift towards leakers. They seem to be admired and get a lot of clout. And if they didn't receive as many views on their podcasts or got so many followers, there wouldn't be enough benefit in it for them to share this kind of information.

Re: Toei's Trio of First Games Hold Little Interest for PS5 Players

FreasurePlanten

I really dislike these "ragebait" pieces you guys have been publishing. By doing this, you're tarnishing by association other Hookshot Media websites. You go after easy targets too, which just makes it sad.

The indie titles look okay to good, so I'll be keeping an eye on them.

Sadly, I won't be keeping an eye on this website anymore, though.

Re: Naughty Dog Embraced Crunch Culture After The Last of Us, as It's 'What It Takes to Make Games at Our Level'

FreasurePlanten

@wildcat_kickz This, 100%. If crunch is allowed for and given positive optional incentives for those who want to put in the time, then I have no problem with it. For me it only becomes an issue if there's peer pressure or unstated rules that you have to do it. But as many have said, this is more of a widespread problem. And it doesn't only happen in private companies either. For instance in my country doctors in the NHS work overtime pretty much constantly because many doctors make more by working in private practices and almost no one wants to earn less and work more.

Re: Assassin's Creed Black Flag Remake Touted to Anchor PS5's Summer, Reveal Next Week

FreasurePlanten

@Scarface993 I'm still excited for this one, so long as they keep the spirit of the original and don't try to force the style of the more recent games into it. (Nothing against it, I just would rather have the more traditional experience again)

But what would really excite me is that possible AC1 and/or AC2 remakes. I think AC 2 still plays very well and still looks pretty good in its Ezio Trilogy format, AC1 is sometimes quite hard to go back to because of the repetitive structure and lack of subtitles. So between those two I would love especially to see a ground-up remake of AC1. I think it's telling that it's basically the only mainline game they refuse to re-release.

Re: Re-Releases Go Too Far with New PS5 Version of Darksiders 1

FreasurePlanten

This is a rather odd piece. Why single out this release specifically? Plenty of games have received PS5 versions with barely any changes, even first party games like Days Gone. And people have listed advantages common to other native PS5 versions: new trophy list, cloud streaming to PS Portal, possible resolution or performance boosts...

Re: The Last of Us 2 Can't Quite Match the First Game's Launch on PC

FreasurePlanten

@Americansamurai1 I think that game had a huge potential to change people's minds about Sony's live-service investment. It's one of the few franchises where a live-service online game would make a lot of sense.
Really a shame that it didn't come to be. I think it's even likely that the game wasn't in that bad of a state. I mean, it's Naughty Dog, the first Factions were quite good. I think probably Bungie just thought they weren't monetizing it right or something.

Re: Naughty Dog's Intergalactic Unlikely to Release on PS5 Until 2027

FreasurePlanten

If this is the case, then it was announced way too early. I thought the reason we weren't hearing anything was because Sony was saving the reveal of titles until closer to release. Guess that's not the case with this one. If after a year without most studios outputting anything, they basically just have Ghost of Yotei, that will look bad again.

Re: PS Plus Premium Likely to Include Rhythm RPG Classic Patapon 3

FreasurePlanten

I can't believe this is real. I'm so excited for this! The online multiplayer was a big component of this game, for sure, and it's not going to feel the same without it. Yet, it's still a very fun experience. I played this for almost 200 hours when it came out on the PSP. If this comes to fruition, it's the best gaming news of the year so far for me.

Re: PS3 Games Could One Day Get Emulated on PS5

FreasurePlanten

Given the state of the PS2 emulator when the first batch was coming out, I don't know how important this "a PS5 emulator would need to pass quality assurance and function without any bugs or glitches" is. Sure, they have to have them running well, but I think Sony would absolutely release PS3 games even if they weren't in a perfect state. Just remember some of the ports they released on Vita, as an example.

Re: Astro Bot Dev Pays Tribute to Nintendo As PS5 Exclusive Wins Game of the Year

FreasurePlanten

I think it was always going to come down to either this or Metaphor. I personally enjoyed Metaphor a bit more, and would like to see Atlus, and particularly Hashino's team finally being properly recognized after basically a 20 year period where they just keep releasing killer RPGs. Nonetheless, giving the award to Astro Bot, especially in the aftermath of the Concord debacle, sends, I think, a really nice message up to PlayStation HQ.
