Eh, not a fan. Aside from FF7 and Legend of Mana, nothing really impressed me. I wouldn't even be able to come up with enough quality titles for a Top 10 list.
FF7, LoM, Gunner's Heaven, Mega Man X5, Umihara Kawase Shun, Twisted Metal 2, Loaded... That's about it.
The N64 is easily my favorite system from that generation.
I find pretty much all modern games about as impenetrable as the Souls stuff. That's why I mainly stick to the retro stuff, where I can just use save states.
Could these mods potentially make the game more approachable to casual players?
Currently, the game strikes me as completely impenetrable to the uninitiated. Even on the lowest difficulty level, I get slaughtered by everything. I've made no progress whatsoever since getting off the Illithid ship.
A poor substitute for Virtua Fighter, but VF doesn't really have any players left, at least not in Europe, so, ehh, I guess I'll play it. I just hope the gameplay doesn't consist of mostly looking at loading screens anymore. (The rematches are nice and quick, but I don't really do a lot of rematches.)
My Top 5 would be Shining Hearts, Phantasy Star Portable 1 & 2, Tekken 5 - Dark Resurrection, and Final Fantasy Reishiki.
Then there's other good stuff like Prinny, Tales of the World - Radiant Mythology, Ys 3 & 7, Tengai Makyou - Daiyon no Mokushiroku, Strike Witches - Hakugin no Tsubasa...
And let's not forget the huge selection of PSOne Classics. You could end up spending more time on those than actual PSP games. The Japanese store even has a solid number of PC Engine games. They've got some nasty input lag, though, but it's not unplayable. Accessing the Japanese store on a Vita/PSTV won't be possible, though, if you've already connected it to a western PSN account. I got a second PSTV myself just so I could get the Japan exclusive stuff.
One of the most unique platformers on the Nes. Quite a nice game. Beat it back in 2020 - with save states, of course. I'm not a masochist. I did make it to the final boss without save states, but that's where my patience ended.
Also really looking forward to Trip World, which is a sequel of sorts. Never played that one before. Hadn't even heard of it until recently.

Re: Octopath Traveler 0 (PS5) - Perfectly Fine JRPG Action
I hate to rain on anyone's parade, but I can barely stand looking at this "HD2D" stuff.
The fact that they're making RPGs that look like this instead of RPGs that look like El Dorado Gate, feels like a punch in the throat.
Re: Yakuza Kiwami 2 Has All-Important 60FPS Performance on PS5 Alongside Free Upgrade
Uh, I don't even like 60 fps...

Re: Expect to Pay $20 for Hollow Knight: Silksong on PS5, PS4
If it just crashes constantly, like the first one, can I get a refund?
Re: Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 8 Out Now on PS5, Full Patch Notes Are Utterly Gigantic
I still can't even begin to survive in this game.
Maybe after 20 years they'll release a version that's accessible to casuals, like they did with BG1&2.
Re: All PS5, PS4 Games with Mouse and Keyboard Support
The keyboard is great for typing. The mouse is great for wrist pain.
Re: Random: God of War Ragnarok PC Mod Removes Thousands of 'Helpful' Dialogue Lines
Is there a mod to remove player death? I never got far in the PS5 version.
Re: TimeSplitters 2 (PS2) – Classic FPS Has Tons of Content, But Hasn't Fully Stood the Test of Time
"aiming is atrocious"
This is how I feel about every FPS that isn't TimeSplitters, GoldenEye, or Perfect Dark. With a fixed crosshair, it feels like aiming a tank.

Re: The Legendary Mana Series Returns with Visions of Mana on PS5, PS4 in 2024
If it was 2D, I might actually get some enjoyment out of it. Oh, well.
